This is late, but it will still run the full week or so. The last day of posting will be December 4th.
This month's topic is a special one. Rather than a general topic, this one is fairly specific, yet relevant to all site members. For New Years, I want to do an OOC AK award 'show' of sort, similar to the Oscars or Grammy awards. What I need from you guys is your general opinions on it, ideas for categories, ways to run the event, prize ideas, that kinda of stuff. You can also offer other ideas for OOC events for upcoming holidays, but I more-so need the opinions on the awards event.

Player of the Year, Most Detailed Post, Best Overall Performance...
Maybe turn Player of the Year into, like, Lead Male Role, Lead Female Role...
Thread of the Year... Most Active Personality...

Given that, as I understand it, you guys have been together for several years, how about a "Most missed and we wish they would come back" award?

Personally I really like this idea. Sounds like something that would be really fun.
For prizes the only ideas I can come up with are changing the colors on the display name, RP points and possibly a small custom idea.
For some categories there can be "Funniest Moment", "Most Dramatic Moment", "Most Creative Use of Powers", "Most Creative Thread Title", "Funniest Character" and "Scariest Character"
Thats all I have for now.

Award for person who proposed an award they believed they are most likely to win, maybe It is likely that people will be winning multiple awards though...

Gives the other two factions a chance of winning something, doesn't it?
Can also do a best supporting m/f role like the oscars o: But that does limit the non-shini a bit so it too needs work

YAY COMPETITION Hmm, since this is an OOC reward thing, should we consider having some Bawks rewards as well? Though not sure how well that would work. Best Quote would be one thing which we can do with the thread thingy. Maybe we could also span it out and included something like the best responses in games (like corrupt a wish and whatnot). Though that would be a lot of categories...whatever we choose, I think it would be best not to go overboard with the number to not make it clunky...then again the Oscar's have a pretty hefty amount of categories... All in all, I approve of the idea 105% xP

Two other ideas I came up with were "Best Conflict" and "Best Fight"

Maybe include the most unlucky character as well. Have to have something that's less serious.

. Maybe we could also span it out and included something like the best responses in games (like corrupt a wish and whatnot). ^ I really like that idea. Looking at OOC, it’d probably be best to linger around “member” based awards such as “Most Comical Member”, “Sweetest Member”, “Cutest Member” or ones like “Bubble Buster” for members who tend to ruin peoples’ dreams, or “Loud Mouth” for the most opinionated members. Also “Most Active Member” Or such. Although with this said, Oscars/Grammys are usually given out for the accomplishment of a person in a certain event. So, could be the “Most Grammatically Correct Member”, “Longest Posts Award”, “Most detailed Award”. Also, something else to point out, Oscars/Grammys really don’t say they are awarding the “Best”, they are just recognizing someone who is good at something. So it’d be more of like “Grammatically Correct”, “Long Posts” and “Detailed” Also when the awards are given like “Oscar-winning actor” Here you have what (contest so to speak) they are winning along with what they are. For Forum it’d probably be easiest to say “____-winning member” Insert Something Creative there. “Oscar-winning actor Christopher Plummer, winner for Performance by an Actor” Here you have the name of the winner and the reason they are winning something. “____-winning member _____, winner for Grammatically Correct member” “Oscar-winning actor Christopher Plummer, winner for Performance by an Actor, in a supporting role in his “Beginners” Here we have an example of why they are winning. So when presenting any award to someone it could be presented like “NewYears-winning member Umbrella, winner for Grammatically Correct member, in character in “I Love English” Something like that. Also, an award could be something like RP points ALONG with something kind of cheesy like a cool little icon that someone on the site (who is preferably good at making cool designs) makes and it says their name, that they are a “NewYears” (or anything more creative)-winner and what they are getting the award for. Anywho! If not noticeable for the lengthiness of this post, I really like this idea! I'll hopefully have some more ideas later.

I've never watched the Grammys or Oscars, so this information is very helpful, thanks!

Yeah, I had intended to have some boxling related awards, which is why I need ideas for prizes because I don't necessarily want to give prizes like RP and stuff for things not necessarily related to a character.

I like the custom filter idea. Though you might have to stipulate that they can't filter another member's name. For obvious reasons.

Dunno if anyone mentioned this but Best Recruiter, Most Money/Cheap Bastard, Most Player Kills [which really wouldn't work but would be cool in the future], Best Chef/Rukongai Tavern Owner/Place-thing, Best Captain, Best LT, Best Unseated, Best Hollow, Best Arrancar, or favorite, dunno.
Best Performing Artist, lol... Maybe if some character plays an instrument/sings. Most Abilities/RP Points Spent.
Most Posts?
Uh, Hm... I dunno. Just spewing random ideas.

Also, for those who may not feel as though they could win an award, what about something to the effect of: Best (written/funny/serious) post by charname? That way he wont feel left out or anything

Favourites by region? Favourite European, North American, etc. You probably could get away with splitting up USA and Canada though, and maybe even splitting up the USA?

Came up with what I want to do for the Christmas/Holiday stuff.
Similar to the apple bobbing, I'll have a picture of numbered presents, and everyone can pick a number. Then I'll host a livestream (provided my computer cooperates), where each present is assigned a second number that represents what present is inside. Then at the end of assigning these secondary numbers, I'll give everyone who is participating in the livestream another number, and we'll use the random number generator to pick a person who has to swap their number with someone else at the stream or otherwise, like a Chinese gift swap. After a few rounds of that, I'll reveal what's in the presents.
In addition to that, there will be a picture of one large present, representing something that all active members will be receiving if they picked a number of one of the smaller presents.
Questions, comments, concerns? :B

Truest to archetype, the character of each faction to best represent the true function of that class.
Least liked character. Someones gotta take all the hate, right?
Cutest character.
Tweets! Funniest tweets!
Some additional ideas for rewards: random item from the store, small custom item, pet from the store, piece of furniture, etc. Free meal at the notched axe.... collow rides....

For those of us who can't get to the livestream; what then? Do we miss out on the gift because we aren't able to pick a second number?

No, like with the apple bobbing thread, results would be posted in the thread. You would miss out on the Chinese gift swap though, but your number would still available for swapping by those present.
