Name: Saikokui Kurisuna
Gender: Female
Age: 3000
Reiatsu Color: A deep, sanguine red, like that of a rose
Reiatsu Aura: Dementia; an impaired connection to reality
Faction: Shinigami
Rank: 3rd Division Taichō{Spoiler}Appearance
Kurisuna has retained the figure of a ravishing young woman in her mid-20s throughout millennia, possessing hair of a vivid red reaching down to the base of her neck, save for two foremost strands gone beyond her breasts, and blanched, pale skin, distinct to the ill. Auburn-eyed, she stands at 6'4'' and weighs 175lbs. A pair of roses embellish her locks, and their barbed stems creep down the lengths.
Personality: A woman, whose impeccable conduct as a Shinigami has since deteriorated to little more than a thin veneer of professionalism. Her gentle, compassionate character has since given way to the far more sinister nature she had refused to acknowledge. No longer reputed as the warm, motherly figure that had been leading alongside other council members as Captain of the 3rd, Kurisuna is a cruel woman governed primarily by raw, unfettered emotions, the likes of which she every now and again manages to keep in check (if somewhat poorly) in order to retain her position.
Her psyche’s steady degeneration has rendered her incapable of focusing for prolonged periods of time on dreary tasks such as paperwork. Due to this, she is accustomed to yielding the bulk of her duties to her Lieutenant, who fulfills the majority of her obligations as Captain of the Gotei in her stead, although very few are aware of it. Kurisuna confides a lot to her Fukutaichou, Sumie, the sole individual she still regards in a positive light, recognizing the time and effort she has allotted to her well-being. She resents all other attempts at succoring her.
Notwithstanding her aversion for all things pertaining to office work, Kurisuna is, in spite of her apparent insanity, a keen detective, as well as an avid reader of historical documents and horror novels. She is an accomplished gardener, and has a fondness for spars, which she exploits as opportunities to harm her peers.
Alas, though there are things she certainly does enjoy, among Kurisuna’s predominant traits is a deep-seated hatred of the self; as she no longer bears a shred of memory concerning her children, she is possessed with a nameless guilt, ineffable regret over an event she cannot possibly hope to recall. This self-loathing is the source of her self-destructive behavior, for she is highly prone to injuring herself, and would seldom hesitate to leap into life-risking situations; deep down, Kurisuna longs to die a meaningful end, though she is convinced she deserves no more than a pointless death.
Fond of: Reading, plants (specifically roses), koi fish, zen gardens, bumblebees, pain, the sight of blood
Dislikes: Children (uncomfortable), co-workers, brash and disorderly behavior, dogs, council meetings, the color blue, loud noises, fire, Hollow (intense hatred)
History:Born among those of the first generation, Kurisuna’s birth brought along the death of her mother. For a whole century, she partook in farm work with her father, but left as he regressed to more violent habits. In company of Tanaka Malik and countless others, she helped construct Seireitei and conceived twins out of wedlock with one of their nameless compatriots, and then went on to live within its blanched walls accompanied by the both of them as Malik's Lieutenant. In due time, as the Gotei branched to include five individual divisions, Kurisuna earned the rank of Taichou to the 3rd and met many of her colleages, maintaining a tender and amicable disposition throughout the assembly.

Shortly thereafter, her health began to deteriorate, both physically and psychologically; her descent into madness was characterized by a thorough shift in personality and an inability to carry out certain tasks, although she nonetheless manages to uphold her position via Sumie's indispensable support.

Zanpakutō
Zanpakutō Name: Kurushimi
Spirit: A red-haired child of short stature and dark-rimmed, aquamarine eyes, dressed in clothes fit for decidedly warmer climates. Kurushimi likens his wielder to the bloom of a rose, and fancies himself the thorn. As his name might suggest, he is a bit of a sadist, and pain is his eminent motivator, no matter who it is inflicted upon; as such, he has a tendency to advocate whichever course of action derives the most suffering, be it in a social entourage, or outside of bed.
Although Kurushimi savors his Captain’s throes whenever they should manifest, and places his peculiar brand of enjoyment above her well-being, he does not necessarily hate her; though his core personality is nothing short of an extravagant, bloodthirsty maniac, he may occasionally act his age and behave as any son would, notwithstanding how short-lived these lapses may turn out to be.
Inner World: A network of broad, labyrinthine corridors, their walls composed entirely of barbed vines and black roses. A sky that shifts between countless shades of red hangs heavenward, and a thin mist pervades the realm. Cries of anguish and pleading voices call out incessantly, though the tormented are never seen.
Sealed: Sheathed in a scabbard of a glossy carmine color, Kurushimi is a katana whose blade stretches a full 73cm, with a floral guard and a hilt swathed in darker shades of red that make out the semblance of a rose. It is secured at her left.
Shikai: "Blossom, Kurushimi!" From the earth it has come, and to the earth it will go. Kurushimi's cutting edge, a veined, chlorophyllous blade mounted on a 6'5'' celadon shaft, curves a half-foot down its 20'' span in the form of a traditional naginata. At the neck of the pole, where rod clutches whetted steel, the stygian petals of an ill-boding rose wax in full bloom, scatter and disintegrate: eternally self-destructive and infinitely self-sustaining, the black rose is never depleted as long as Kurushimi maintains Shikai, purely aesthetic.
Attack: From its shaft, Kurushimi is capable of spawning up to two vines per level of reiatsu skill. These may grow to lengths of up to eighteen feet, and conduct the most rudimentary parries; however, at this stage, they are ultimately incapable of inflicting any harm, and retain mobility (per deliberate thought - no independent movements) for up to four posts beyond their birth, after which point they will wilt over the course of two.
Kurushimi's appendages function not unlike ivy (the broad leaves they may form, too, closely resemble those of hedera helix), prone to ensnaring whatever item or body part should come within its reach. Assisted by a poweful adhesive mucilage the feelers are capable of secreting, each vine may detach from the naginata's shaft and propagate up to an extra meter (presuming, of course, that they still do not exceed their limit), before locking up with enough force to impede the opponent's circulation.
Three posts mark the delay before any given tentacle may be replaced, and only once it has fully withered.
