[About]
These threads are dedicated to giving general descriptions of established and repeatedly used areas in RP to prevent confusion and disputes in threads. Information of importance includes the size of the structure (note whether it is one story/two and the like as well), main entrances that are used and would be accessible/visible to an onlooker, the general layout, perhaps materials used, that kind of thing. If your location is not listed here and you wish for it to be, please PM me. I will actively collect information from those I know to have such areas in use.[Area List]
Sitting low and squat in the Westernmost quadrant of the Seireitei, the Fourth Division is known for being the least thrilling of the bunch. The grounds surrounding the Division - and the conjoined jailhouse - are at least well-maintained, though this is because said grounds are comprised only of grass and the odd flower or tree an individual has taken as 'their own'. The outside of the Fourth Division, as well, is nothing extremely special; put simply, very little differentiates this broad, low building from any other in the area, save for the Fourth Division insignia emblazoned over each entrance.
The inside of the main Division quarters, as well, could be best described as 'sparse'; upon immediate entry through the 'main' door, entrants are greeted by a lone desk with a lone worker - occasionally, though not often, there are chairs as well, to allow visitors to sit. This desk is where the primary of the paperwork is handled, as well as where messages are taken - basically, this is the Division focal point, responsible for all tasks both menial and lower-management. From here, the building is comprised only of rooms - no hallways, only rooms, each room being quite large and, two of three times, empty of anything but it's occupants. The other third, the room will be either interspersed with training dummies, or have several great bins of moderately-maintained bokken in each corner.
There are three exemptions to this: the first is the room dedicated to the Taicho and Fukutaicho - fittingly, it is equipped with two large desks and a suite of writing tools, as well as a ledger handled by the Taicho- a list of those currently held by the Fourth Division's jailhouse. A copy of this ledger is maintained both in the jailhouse and at the front desk of the Division, though the Taicho's ledger is considered to be the keystone. Though the former Taicho is well known for abandoning most of his duties at a moment's notice, the upkeep of this ledger is one of few duties he placed above all others.
The other two exceptions are the two rooms to either side of the Taicho and Fukutaicho's office - these two rooms being full from floor to ceiling and wall to wall with cots. These are kept for the odd chance that the Division members might need to stay within Division walls rather than go to their homes - an idea brought up to the Taicho by the former Third Division Fukutaicho, and one he was quick to claim as his own.
The Fourth Division Jailhouse is only accessible from the room directly before and south of the office of the Fukutaicho and Taicho - this being the only entrance or exit requires that any attempted escapes be made by going through the Fourth Division itself, a hurdle few could dare attempt leaping. The jailhouse is dominated by two great cells, as most of those taken in are able to be housed alongside one another, most offenses being minimal in Seireitei. There are four smaller cells otherwise, each capable of housing two but are generally only used to house single prisoners, should they prove to be too violent to handle being with the general public. There have been occasions were, rather than being placed in the individual cells, prisoners have been instead tied to cell bars; it has since been proven that this threat is adequate deterrent to most trouble.
