Arashi’s vision blurred a little as the nausea worsened and worsened. She’d never went to the second division before. Perhaps this was why? There was an obvious reason Arashi was not placed in the second division. She couldn’t handle it…
Her grip tightened on the door frame until her knuckles began to white from the lack of blood. Her whole body had paled, more than her usual paleness. The procedure was going well though. They were trained in this. They knew what they were doing, it was just an eye.
But the air grew cold and shivers went down her spine. Her eyes widened. Every fiber in her being told her to turn around but she didn’t. The captain started speaking… She shivered more. Now her body wanted to go over there and grab him, shake him, tell him not to give up. Tell him she can be saved. Force him to save the child. Her muscles tensed, aching to go and make them bring her back. But they knew what they were doing…
Her nose started to tingle and burn. It wasn’t the tingling and burning you get when you have allergies and need to sneeze it was the tingling and burning you get when holding tears back. She was a Fukutaichou, crying was not allowed…at least in front of people. Even alone, when she cried over her lover or Tsuru or her mother…even her father…she still felt weak.
As the captain finished speaking, Arashi reached up and ran a hand through her bangs, now realizing how sweaty she had become. She glanced down, even her stomach showed the shine of sweat. It took a while for Arashi to understand what the captain had just said so…she patiently waited for Mai Tanaka but she didn’t dare look back. Didn’t dare look at the dead child. She knew if she looked back …bad things would happen.
Right...right this way, Arashi-san
Arashi nodded and gave out a sigh…not a normal sigh but one where it sounds like the person is having a hard time breathing, which was no lie…Arashi was having a hard time breathing.
She gave into her body. She turned around, looking past Mai and at the child. The lifeless child with the life still on her. The color of life in her skin and hair. Life just…wasn’t in her.
A single drop. That’s all it took. A single drop of rain to warn a village of a down pour. It slowly slid down the pale skin of the red haired girl. It caressed the scar on her cheek, and as if playing with the girl it tickled her. She was too numb to reach up and swat it away. Tell it this was no time for games. Too numb to keep the storm from coming in.
”Tsuru…
