Okay, I'll tell you what's on my mind.

To be honest, I've been lurking here for a while now, while I worked on Amaterasu and now that I finished her profile up.. and, really, what is wrong with some of you people? Things are just a big bundle of complaints, spread over the entire site.

And now, this?

Really? To encourage RP, you get rewards for quality posts.. and you should get more, depending on how much you write? Stop right there, that's shooting yourself in the foot. Quality is not quantity, so.. why even bring up lengths to begin with? And this is where I fully realize what's happening to this place.

Most of you are treating this as an MMORPG.
Hooyes, you are. Don't even deny it. "Power is everything! Grind points! We need strong characters!"

Look, I know that in a universe like this, strength is important. But, shit, this is just sucking the fun out of everything. And for you new people? This is a toned-down stat system. How can something so toned-down and easy cause so much problem? It shouldn't even be an issue! Powers are TOOLS for RP. Not a flashy badge you'll shove in peoples face. "I'm stronger than your character!" "Yeah, well, I have Bankai."

If you're so concerned about points, I'd suggest entering more threads, writing a lot more, getting people who actually put effort into their writing, and just.. enjoy things! Because that's what this place is for! Enjoying RP! Experimenting with others! Clashing personalities of characters! Setting up a story involving what everybody wants to convey! Not enjoying game threads! Yeah, I said that! You people seem more focused on threads like werewolf, word association, this or that and just.. well, I don't feel I have to say more about it other than; Look at your post count. Count the RP. And then count the Game Threads. Really. Hell, there should be a system that makes the game threads not count as actual posts. Make this a suggestion for the box!

But your "rewards" for writing so well? It shouldn't be points. It shouldn't be powers. It shouldn't be items. I already know what my reward is. Self-satisfaction. Being able to put out an amazing post for others to read, praise, and say; "Shit, Ammy, that's a good job." <—— THAT is my reward. Knowing I did a good job and feeling good about what I just wrote? That's all I need.

Now as for the time-skip? Do it. I'm the one who voted for 3 years. Yeah.

Give people a fresh start after the horrible wreck that was the zombie event. Let people add something to their history? That could give you growth. And if you're so concerned about acting out certain aspects.. well, like Ki said, what's stopping you? And having the time-skip is also healthy for the staff too. They can work out a plot, work out who runs it, work out how it will play.. and so forth. If you want change, why not put a suggestion thread for "Hey, we want to work out characters into changing things for X, can we work that in after the time-skip?" "Sure! As long as it makes sense!"

If they do decide to make a time-skip, and you people don't like that either? Then I really suggest getting a new hobby, because you're clearly not enjoying this one. If this place is so bad you have to complain about everything.. well, don't be here.

TL;DR - Enjoy writing, feel good about your post, and YES to Time-skip.

More points aren't necessary. I enjoy having a strong character as much as the next guy, maybe more than the next guy since Combat RP is my bread and butter, my origins. But honestly, you can get as strong as you want to be with enough effort. I'll admit, I have thought plenty about how Yuigon is now weaker than every brand new registered character, but that's fine by me. You know why? Because I haven't been that active. It is entirely my fault. So if I decide to get myself into a fight, and looking at the 4th District is plain evidence that I have, I'll need to rely on my skills as a writer to try and even the field as much as I can, rather than relying on stats.

Isn't that how Roleplaying should be?

As for the skip, I will reiterate. A skip of over a year is fine, so long as there is a set date with enough time for people to wrap up what they find most essential. The rest can be done in past threads.

With a time frame set from the point its actually decided how long the time-skip would be, then I’d say it wouldn’t be that bad. Though I can’t say I really like the idea a lot. I mean, as far as I understood, the main point of the skip is to have everyone tie up loose ends, and make a fresh start? If so...why? Do we need to rush to the next plot related event? Can’t we rp our way towards it, perhaps maybe have a chance to investigate the matter in a series of smaller events, or something like that? I’d be far to call any of the event's "wrecks" I enjoyed them all immensely. My biggest issue would be not having enough time in between them to sort out how my character reacted to them. Which is also my fault. My point is, the site wide plot is important, but the plots made by the people are important as well. And a time skip feels like rushing one over the other. I know there are past threads, so the loss might me negligible...but I’d rather rp out Haru's and Yoshiya's meeting in real time, rather than discuss the aftermath with Jeff, and then role-play it out to fill in the mold we thought of at the time.

As for the other issues risen here, no offense to anyone, but discussing the way threads are graded is clearly NOT the topic of this thread. If you feel unsatisfied, or want to offer a suggestion, there is a thread for it. And really, I know discussion can get heated, but can we keep it merithoric, rather than calling people names?

It's cool, Harupia. I'd rather take the attacks directly than watch my friend burn. I'm going to wait for a computer before I properly reply to anyone, but I would like my post count to be kept out of things. It's irrelevant.

Yeah, I'm agreeing with Haru... I think maybe everyone should calm down, and take a more respectful approach; or maybe lock the thread. Spitting insults back and forth isn't going to get us anywhere, and it's only making a bigger issue out of something that can be calmly approached in the proper setting and thread. The main point here is to have fun and role play, not trash anyone's ideas or opinions and the like, so maybe everyone can take the time to cool down, apologize and make amends, and aim to discuss things that don't pertain to a time skip in the member involvement thread. Let's all act like civilized adults, yes? We know how to behave better, why burn one another? Seriously, don't let things get ridiculous, please.

As per my absence post, I am still dealing with adjusting to my psych medicine and a ton of IRL stress, but as this thread has been brought up so many times on skype, I can't let it sit here unaddressed, even if locked. I do appreciate the participation, but there will be no more discussion over this particular issue or any similar threads like it made for awhile since the open floor policy was abused even after my initial post warned people to behave in a respectful manner. The Member Involvement thread will of course remain open and I will exclusively handle suggestions there with the exception of the point system which was also brought up here, so I will consolidate the verdict on that in this post rather than both places.

I don't have the patience or civil attitude at my disposal in my current state of being to deal with counter-arguing the crap talked about the current system, so here's how that's going to work. We are not adding anymore additional points to be gained via RP because, again, there is a system that already allows for quality posts to receive extra rewards. Moderators will now also have the option to withhold points for particularly low quality posts. There will be a guideline established and posted for the masses for what qualifies for BOTH posts that earn an extra point and posts that do not receive points.

Regarding the initial point of this thread, there will not be a time skip, but after the activity sweep, we will be reinstating the three day post rule. In addition to the absence thread which has been abused to extend time, there will be a deadline request thread where you can post for an extra 24 hours if necessary. It will be separate from the absence thread.

Recap:

• No additional extra points rewarded for quality posts
• Very poor quality posts will receive no points
• A guide for what defines quality and poor quality posts will be made
  

This stuff will be taken care of in the next couple of weeks, again, because I am currently not in a position to handle working on stuff right now. This goes for profiles as well, though those will be my first concern when I am capable of focusing on site work, then the updates, and then the backlog of work from when I was not the one in charge.
