Request
I hereby request that Aoyama Ryouichi's RP points be transferred over to Ephraim.
Firstly, I'd like to note that I am very well aware of the rule behind the RP transfer system, as it was done in order for people to not lose their progress with their characters. I understand that. I also understand that I had the choice to 'transfer' over my character. Unfortunately, I couldn't do that because it wouldn't do with the setting. Why? Because Aoyama was a SHINIGAMI. It's what I made him for. To make him into someone else would be disrespectful to my original concept I believe, hence why I created an entirely new character who I felt would fit the new setting much more.
Now of course, you will ask that 'if you knew that, why are you asking us to excempt you from the rule'? My answer to that is....well....I'm the only one who didn't transfer his character over! Me and Shandina to be precise but I'm pretty sure she has left. In this case, you can look at it from 2 points of view, both of which focus on the fact that I am only 1 person, and exempting me is hardly going to change anything - but does that mean that there is no reason for this to happen, or not to happen? You will be the ones to decide, as you already know my opinion on this matter.
Okay, so let's say you agree to give me the RP points - the question here is what will I do with them? A character is not interesting and fun solely because he/she is powerful. My own RPing skills will show how 'cool' or 'good' of a person he is, and how engaging his interactions will be. In this case however, I will call attention on his role within the site as well as his primary function; fighting.
He is a mercenary! He is not a barkeep who handles his shop. He is not a noble who has his own personal guard. He is not a war-hero who has retired. He is not a lord whose time is spent governing his lands. He is not a Gifted, living safely within a castle and fighting only on specific times. He is out there, fighting people, beasts and who knows what else. His job is to risk his life, his goal is to create cool fighting RP experiences, in which he has a handicap as he is not starting with any RP! I do not wish to stall his debut into action because I need to gather up a few points to fill in some gaps in his abilities.
The gold and the items are not necessary. If it is supposed to go along with the RP points, that's ok, but what concerns me are the points.
I am not 'expecting' anyone to do anything here. I am merely making a request. I apologize if I have offended anyone, if I seem rude or full of myself. But please, consider this. Thank you for taking the time to read thus far.
Suggestion
It has to do with recruitment and its rewards.
From what I know, initially the reward was 10 RP points and 20 Gold. Then it was raised to 25 RP points and 50 Gold. After Cain left and the reset took place however, it once again fell to 10 RP points and 20 Gold.
On one hand, I understand the reason. 25 RP points and 50 Gold sounds like a very big reward. It would be very easy for someone to stack up lots of RP points without even doing any RP, and that is not fair. I get it.
But seriously....do you have any idea how difficult recruiting is?!?! I have talked to over 50 people. Out of those, around half said they were interested. Out of that half, only one half said they could possibly find the time. Out of that, only 3-4 people actually got here to the site to check it out and actually talked with members. Out of those 3-4, only one person, Shandina, actually made a character. Then the reset took place, and it looks like she is gone! So....the total is a zero! And out of all the people Ume recruited as well, not many actually stayed.
My point is, it is true that the main motivator for recruitment should NOT be the pursuit of a reward, but the desire to bring new and interesting individuals who can create various exciting stories. But if you are going to have a reward....have an actual reward.
Still, someone could say "And what if someone is really good at recruiting? What if it is easy for us all, and you just suck donkey-spheres?"
And I have thought of that. There is always the possibility that someone is either really good at it, or has a lot of people that he can invite in reserve. How about we limit the amount of times that someone can cash in a recruitment reward then? What if someone can get RP points for being recruited or for recruiting....like, 3-4 times? As such, no matter how many people someone brings in, their reward can never exceed a certain point.
We could even do that, but also mix in the kind of reward. For being recruited, you can get 25 RP points and 50 Gold. For the next 3 recruitments that you do, you get 25 RP points each. After that point however, you only get a bit of Gold for each recruitment - 25-50 should be more than enough. Of course, those amounts here are merely an example, you can decide that for yourselves - I am only giving an example.
Or, for example, you can only have 3-4 recruitment rewards stuck to your characters, so after you hit the number one of your characters that has the bonus needs to die. After that, if you recruit again, you get a reward.
The reason for this is that if the reward is supposed to entice someone, it should be capable of doing so. And the 25 RP point reward by itself is a good enough motivator, at least in my opinion.
And besides, if someone were to argue that this way, no one would recruit past 3 members then....uh....what is so bad about that? If someone beings in 3 members solely for the rewards, and those 3 members each bring in 3 for the same reasons then....12 new members...yeah. Why not take advantage of greed?
Now, I am not expecting anyone to immediately go with this. We can talk about it for as much as you want, and you can ask as many questions as you want. I merely had an idea and decided to share it.
