Reiatsu Transcription - As members of the Third Division deal with collecting and preserving information through various means, they are trained to use their reiatsu in a manner similar to ink which allows them to mark any solid object with anything from doodles to blocks of text. The transcription has two forms; one that is only visible to the writer and one that anyone can see. However, if another person trained in the same art suspects that something is written in a location, they can mark over it to reveal if anything else was indeed written. The marks fade after a certain amount of time.

Photographic Memory - Simply put, Sumie is a visual learner. She learns much better by seeing something rather than listening to descriptions or instructions. So much so that Sumie can recall anything she has ever seen; the more she focused on a scene or image at the time, the more detail she can recall. The drawback is that, as a Shinigami, Sumie has seen her fair share of unpleasant things and often has nightmares. Though few, if any, know it, this is the cause of the tired lines around her eyes.

Sasori is a male zanpakutō spirit with a humanoid form that towers over Sumie at six feet and six inches in height though he shares many attributes akin to those of a scorpion such as a barbed tail and an exoskeleton, though it does not form across his entire body, but rather it forms a half mask over his head and the back of his neck as well as his shoulders and lower legs. Though the exoskeleton is deep indigo in color and glistens, Sasori's actual skin is tanned and almost leathery. Both his hair, which reaches his shoulders, and eyes are dark red. Sasori wears very little clothing in addition to his exoskeleton; it mostly consists of a black loincloth type garment. Personality wise, Sasori exhibits Sumie's more mature side and is calm to the point of being stoic.
Inner World:
Sumie's inner world consists of a network of dark caves and tunnels lit by fires which are positioned beneath portraits hung on the stone walls. These portraits represent significant events which Sumie has experienced, dreams that she has, and people who are important to her. If something happens to change the status of any of these to a negative light, the fire flares up and burns the portrait, charring the image, though it will always be visible to some extent due to the nature of Sumie's photographic memory. Since the incident where Sumie discovered Kurisuna's deceased children, a haunting melody of a flute is often heard echoing through the corridors.
Sealed:
The sealed form for Sasori is a standard katana with two personal reflections in the form. The first being that the silver guard is in the shape of a curved tear drop, much like the shape of a wet ink brush. The second is that the bindings around the hilt as well as the sheathe are indigo in shade.

Name:[/li][/ul]Sumie was raised as the middle child in a family of Shinigami within Seireitei along with her five sisters and brother. When she was one hundred and fifty, she joined the Shinigami ranks as expected. Though not a natural fighter, Sumie's innate talents such as her photographic memory allowed her take the position of Fukutaichō in the newly formed Third Division at the age of two hundred and ninety. Sumie is still the current Fukutaichō and is in charge of overseeing the processing of new information, the maintenance of old texts, personally illustrating important maps, charts, and books that require it, running the library, and in addition to all of that, Sumie also looks after her captain's physical and mental well being, given the taichou's past, which means also handling her workload. She has a long history with Shuchiku Kiba, but often denies the fact, even if she does his paperwork too.

Appearance:
Sumie is rather average in appearance though she often bears the markings of tired eyes. She stands at five feet and six inches while weighing approximately one hundred and forty pounds with well balanced proportions. Her hair and eyes share the same rich brown tones and her skin is neither overly pale or tanned. She tends to wear her hair in a series of buns and half buns, forming an upside down crescent shape on the back of her head while the loose strands drop down from the center and hang at the nape of her neck and her bangs, which are too short to reach back into the buns, are parted down the center to frame her face on both sides just past her ears; when left down, her hair reaches just to her shoulder blades with a slight wave to it.
Sumie often carries extra ink brushes tucked into her hair and the uniform which she wears when on duty is standard though instead of the typical white sash Sumie wears an indigo colored obi over a white cloth which she uses to wipe ink and paint off her fingers; they are secured with a simple white cord. Her zanpakutō is usually tucked into the modified belt behind her back so that the hilt extends over her left shoulder. Sumie's casual attire varies too much to be listed, though she prefers simple, comfortable, and colorful garments.

Easygoing and amiable, Sumie is a wisecrack or two away from being the typical girl next door. No one enjoys a good chat quite like Sumie (especially those who happen to be the subject of her newest piece of gossip, though she keeps her own personal affairs to herself), which is among the few things that can hold Sumie's attention for very long; work is not part of this exclusive set, though somehow Sumie manages to get it all done; including Kiba and Kurisuna's 'extra' paperwork, even if no one ever sees her actively doing it. Despite being so laid-back and having a good sense of humor, Sumie is prone to holding grudges over anything beyond friendly jokes or obvious accidents, but her relaxed nature lends itself to preventing direct confrontation outside of serious fights. Fortunately, spreading rumors doesn't qualify as direct.
When she isn't on duty, Sumie often spends her free time drawing, painting, or playing games like shogi though her hobbies also include less active things such as napping, reading, and cloud gazing. She rarely turns down invites to lunch, a night out on the town, or the like if she isn't busy as she enjoys the simple pleasures of spending time with friends; unless the invitation is from Kiba, whom she views much like a pesky younger brother despite the male being a year older than her as the two grew up as neighbors. In between work, her lazy days, and dealing with Kiba, Sumie somehow manages to look after her current taichou, Kurisuna; their relationship having changed and deepened since the day Sumie reported the death of Kurisuna's twins.
