The Combat and Defense Division Primary Headquarters is located at the site of the former 8th Division, which expanded its grounds and buildings after the merging of Divisions to accommodate its sudden growth. The HQ is surrounded by a high stone wall, with four gates at each of the cardinal directions. The grounds themselves are spacious, with trees and shrubbery up front. The center of operations is two story square building containing three small meeting rooms, a large assembly hall, the offices of each of the seated officers (Captain included), and a room containing the mission reports and patrol logs of the division. The building's first floor has walls made of stone, and floors of wood, while the second story is almost entirely wooden. The roof has clay tiles covering it to keep rain out.
The east wing is also two stories, with a basement beneath it. This wing contains the barracks, and every unseated officer has a small, single room apartment here. The basement contains a pair of bath houses, one for men and one for women. This wing is nearly twice the length of the main hall, but only three quarters as wide.
The west wing is nearly identical in layout to the east wing, but instead of barracks contains the mess halls and kitchens where members of the division can get food and drink when they can't or do not wish to go out to the markets.
The northern wing is a single story, low to the ground with wooden floors and paper walls. It is the main training room of the division, and while the grounds directly outside of it have been cleared and contain padded mats and fenced in areas, as well as weight lifting equipment and practice weapons.
The Captain's office is on the second floor of the headquarters's main building, and consists of two modest rooms separated by a sliding paper door. The office portion contains a large, hardwood desk and a high backed chair, as well as a cabinet and a bookcase, both of which contain records, spare paper and writing supplies, and other sundry items. The second room is very empty, consisting of a single window set into the eastern wall, and a well padded mattress. There is a single cabinet in this room, and it is full of liquors of numerous varieties, some unique to the Rukongai, and others exotic, from the world of the Living.
