After his match with the Espada, the soon to be Soutaicho found himself wandering into a medical tent he deemed not so over crowded. And he was right, as of yet he couldn't see anyone in here. Well, this was a tad bit less crowded than he had been hoping, but soon, hopefully someone with medical training would come in and attend to him and whomever else followed him.
As such, Malik sat down on a makeshift bed with a gentle sigh. Wincing, he looked at his still bleeding wound. Fingering at it the wince turned into a sickening groan.
"Got me a bit more than I thought." He frowned and turned his legs up unto the bed to spread himself out and lie down. "What a day.."

As the events unfolded in the medic's tent, a group of Skeletons wandered in, holding up Derips as he entered the makeshift healing spot. Being sided and carried in by a group of silent henchmen...truly a entry fit of a king. If it weren't for the fact the one being carried in was almost cut in half through his torso, has a medium sized gash on his hand, several bruises, and the part of his face where his right eye should be was a rather gruesome pulp at the current time.
As the skeletons carried him in and put him down, without much ceremony in a empty spot in the tent, not really far away from anyone, he would simply lay there, his good eye closed, taking in deep breaths. While it would take long, he would sooner then later mend himself up to a fully healed state...if anyone would come interested in helping, he wouldn't do much against it, seeing how he had little strength to do anything. he just waited for the events to unfold, wondering just how long it would take till the last fight of this round would begin for them.

While it hadn't been long between the time it took for Derips to be carried, in Malik had semi-doozed off and was enjoying a bit of a nap. However the shuffle, scuffling of the skeletons carrying the wounded creature in, ended that. The Captain let out a defeated sigh, knowing he wouldn't be getting any kind of sleep here and started to rise, only to wince in pain. Defeated he laid back down and stared up at the top of the tent.
How long will they make me wait? He thought to himself as he stared to count the seams in tent's roof. How long had he been waiting? Judging from the the bleeding at his side, not long, though it was still long enough. Malik hated doctors, and hated waiting on them even worse. And by the looks of it he would be waiting for quite some time now, as for what he could make out, there was not a one in sight.
What he would give right now for one of his actual Doctors back in Soul Society to attend him, though he would never admit it. The thought of a stranger, a complete stranger, tending to him rather than someone he could trust unnerved him. He would need to keep himself from suffering many more injuries in future, if his team made it to the next round, so he would not be in this situation again.
Shouldn't be too difficult, right?
Where the devil is Katsu, I need to speak with him.. He looked at the tent's entrance, frowned at the lack of the younger Captain's form and then stared back at Derips. All things considered, I got lucky I suppose.
I could have ended up like him.

Katsu had been trying to make his way down to the medical tents, but with the crowds the way they were, it had taken him longer than he'd expected. He was concerned, of course, for Malik, but also for Kimiko. He'd not seen their comrade since they'd gotten off the boat, and it was worrisome to him. As he pushed aside the flap of the medical tent that Malik had been brought into, he grimaced slightly. Up close, the older captain's wounds looked a bit worse than they had from the stands. He moved quickly to Malik's side, glancing only momentarily at Derips. He'd brought along a small jug of water for Malik, figuring that if nothing else the old man would be thirsty. He sat down on the cot adjacent to Malik's, and offered him the jug. "An excellent fight, Malik. Seems you've still got it." He glanced at Derips again, and then lowered his voice. "I don't know when any healers will be in to see you. It would appear that there aren't any tourney sanctioned medics. All the healing I've seen has been done by third parties not associated with the people running this place." He chewed on his lip, thinking a bit and obviously nervous. "I'm worried about Kimiko. I haven't seen her since we left the boat."

After speaking with Haru, he told me to go ahead and post not seeing a reason to until someone with healing knowledge came to see him or he was addressed directly. He heard him before he saw him. It was quiet around the medical tent, and his foot falls gave him away before anything else. As such, when the flap opened and Katsu entered Malik was already looking at him. The lighting in the tent wasn't the greatest, but he could tell right away he wasn't wearing a standard uniform, he found a change of clothes somewhere. He couldn't say he blamed him, Katsu's uniform was in tatters after the two beatings he had taken.
Young pup likes to get beaten up a lot, it would seem.
Not bothering to push himself up, Malik opted to roll onto his side to face the younger Captain. Nodding his thanks, he took the jug and popped the cork giving it a sniff before he took a sip of the water. He does like to speak formally, now doesn't he? Malik sighed slightly, re-corked the water and placed it upon the ground next to his cot."I was not aware I had lost it." He replied frankly to Katsu's comment about his fighting abilities. He normally would have pointed out that he would not have been offered a promotion if he had, experience and knowing how to command were not the only things required for a good Sōtaichō, at times a strong and skilled hand was needed to both thwart the enemy and to punish those under him if need be.
While rare, it wasn't unheard of a Captain getting out of line and the Sōtaichō needing to knock them down a peg or two.
As Katsu continued to speak, he simply listened not bothering to interrupt the young man until he finished informing Malik of what he knew, along with his fears. "I know, the one who tended to us before was a Shinigami, a deserter.. Or worse. If you can I would like you to keep an eye on both him and his comrade, I would not be surprised if he too was a deserter. "They might lead us to something far more important than this... Farce." He paused for a moment considering his next words carefully. He could see the worry in Katsu's eyes and did not wish to further fuel Katsu's concerns. "Kurugari Kimiko is a member of the Onmitsukido, if she did not want to be seen I doubt she would be. I would not worry about her she will pop up when she feels it will be necessary." He paused again for a moment, clicking his tongue as he did so. "Though I have to admit I would rather her not be so absent. I wish to have words with her."

Having taken the time to rest and look around the island, Shuichi couldn't help but feel that something bad was going to happen to him. Having had a small supper along with a bit of time to rest in order to recover his reiatsu, Shuichi decided that it was time for him to see if any other patients needed his care.
Making his way toward one of the medical tents, Shuichi would barely make any noise as he slowly approached the medical tent. Overhearing what Malik said about keeping an eye on him and their teammate he thought to himself, "Oh joy. Two captains and a member of the Onmitsukido. I'm definitely going to get killed." Shuichi thought to himself.
Entering the tent, Shuichi would glance at the two shinigami and say in his usual gloom filled tone of voice, "I would appreciate not having someone watch me all the time if it's all the same to you two." Giving a sigh, Shuichi knew that it was just his luck that the people who he ended up healing would now try to kill him.

Malik was his cranky self as usual, but Katsu ignored it. So much pomp and circumstance required just to talk to someone. "If you say so. I just don't want to hear she went off on her own, got lost, and got injured because of it." He sighed and scratched the back of his head, obviously not wanting to consider that scenario anymore. He'd hate to have to go back to the Soul Society missing one of their number. He switched the subject when Malik brought up the facade that was the tournament. "What do you think it's all about then? What's the point? We've seen what the people running this event are capable of. The Rukongai was still being reconstructed when we left. People were still missing and unaccounted for. I was nearly one of them." He remembered the feeling of his power withering away, and of how quickly he'd been robbed of his strength inside the gullet of the beast.
One of the strangers who had healed Katsu before entered the tent, and Katsu flashed the obviously scared individual a wicked smile. Katsu had a solution to the other man's dislike of being watched. "If you don't want to be observed and watched, then save us the trouble and tell us who you are." His smile softened a bit, becoming more friendly. "Besides, you've been very kind to help us. It would be rather rude to cut the head off of someone who's been providing us with such skilled medical care. You're honestly only hurting your cause by being so secretive..."

His attention was stolen away from Katsu as the healer whom had tended to both himself and Katsu before spoke, apparently overhearing their conversation. "Ease dropping is highly rude in any society." He paused as he rolled back onto his back with a slight wince. "Though so is spying on others, no offense meant. Please, do not trouble yourself with worry. I was simply curious."
Malik couldn't help but snigger a bit at Katsu's remark about beheading and waved a hand back and forth as he did so, a gesture disregarding the remark as nothing more than humor. Malik's eyes studied the frame of the man before him. The tone of his voice suggested much what he gauged by the man's voice. He was hiding something, and was worried that anything he may do or say might put his neck on a butcher's block. He couldn't blame him, he was after all a deserter speaking with two high ranking officials in the sect of military he no doubt fled from.
Sad existence this one's must be.
"Fret not, if you do not wish to speak about who you are or where you are from, I will not force you to, nor will my prone to violence comrade, here. If you would be so kind as to heal my wound I will happily turn the other cheek and forget that I saw you." With that said, his attention turned back to Katsu, and went to the other subject at hand, the one in which Katsu had questions.
"I am uncertain as to why we have been brought here, but if I were to guess. We are being studied. All of us. And I can see only one logical reason for it.
"Invasion."

Raising an eyebrow at Katsu's statement and Malik's response, Shuichi sighed. Not only was he dealing with a captain who was notorious for killing vizards but the other captain was prone to violence. "Why do I have a feeling that they'll just stab me to death instead of beheading me?" Shuichi thought to himself.
Hoping (although he still didn't trust Malik) that he might just keep his word Shuichi said to the captain, "Hold still. And please try not to get cut again." Beginning to heal Malik it would only take a few minutes before he was ready to go get cut by his next foe.

Katsu chuckled as Malik tried to reassure the man of their good intentions. From the looks of it, Shuichi was more afraid of Malik than he was of Katsu. He focused on Malik, his brow furrowing at the man's suggestion. "An Invasion? You think they could gather enough data on the Soul Society just by watching you, me, and Kimiko fight?" Katsu was skeptical. An Invasion of the Soul Society just didn't seem plausible. Of course, Malik could have meant an invasion of the world of the living, or of Hueco Mundo. "Where would they even be invading from? They've gathered us, humans, hollows, what I assume are bounts, quincies, and another group that I don't recognize..." He jerked a thumb at Shuichi. "This one's group. One of them was fighting earlier in the arena."

"Sadly, that is a promise I am unable to make." He stated, removing the upper portion of his uniform to give the deserter a good look at the gash below his right ribs, an inch deep, still bleeding from his constant movement and followed the length of his ribs completely. It was a bad cut, though he was lucky, it could have been worse. "Nor can any of us to be sure."
His attention turned back to Katsu. "You are wrong, they can learn plenty from our small party, same goes for any other peoples that may or may not be here." He gestured to Katsu's zanpakuto, along to his own. "Already, two Captain level Shinigami have demonstrated a shinigami zanpakuto, zanjutsu. Both of us have also demonstrated Hoho skills, via our shunpo. I have demonstrated, in more detail than I should have, kido. Three of the basic forms of combat we as Shinigami use, more than enough to get some idea as to what we as a core are capable of. Yes our Zanpakuto abilities may differ, but that is not something one would concern themselves over.
"The same can be said for the Hollow, thus far they have had a chance to study two Espada level releases, their own form of our Shunpo and cero. If they did not already know of these abilities, they do now and in great detail depending on how observant they are."
He paused for a moment, allowing his words to sink in a bit. Already their enemy had shown the ability to be able to get inside their realm, their city.. Their home. And now that they had a chance to test their abilities they would now have knowledge. If Malik's theory was correct, it was well thought out of his enemy. So well so, that Malik could not help but laugh aloud at it.
"And thanks to our good friend here," he gestured to Shuichi. "They even know our method of healing. No Getsuei Taicho, they now know more than enough to prepare themselves for what we might throw at them. And the same goes for the others competing here by now, I am sure."

Taking a look at Malik's wound, before giving a glance at Derips, Shuichi was impressed by the level of difference. "Must have been a nasty fight for him." Shuichi thought to himself. Working on the wound, Shuichi would ask, "What exactly is a bount?"
Continuing to work on healing Malik's wound, Shuichi heard him mention how Shuichi had given away their method of healing. "You're welcome. Now hold still and I'll be done in a few minutes.. Shuichi retorted as he continued to heal Malik.

Katsu flinched a bit when he was reminded of the idiotic move he'd made, releasing his zanpakutō so early on in the tournament. So not only had he shown his powers to the enemies in the tournament, but now he had ALSO shown them to whoever was running this place. "Well, what do you propose we do then? It would seem that they have some way to seal our powers outside this arena, which would imply that the only reason we can use them at all is because they will it." He glanced at one of the Skeletal Minions as it walked by and shuddered a bit. The things were damn creepy. "Whether we like it or not, we're pretty much at their mercy. And I think there might be more to it than a simple invasion tactic. Remember when I got eaten by that monster in the Rukongai? I came out completely drained of Reiatsu." He glanced at the healer, then back to Malik. "Whoever is running this tournament can siphon spiritual energy, possibly even store it. What if they're using us like living generators, and sucking up our power as we stay on the island? And if they are, then to what end?"

As the trio conversed while Malik was being healed up, Derips kept laying there, his good eye simply staring into the ceiling, letting his own body do the work. While slowly, his body was slowly remaking itself, the gaping opening in his chest being filled with its proper contents. Hopefully he would be ready to go by the next round...assuming there would be one for them. While he was weak and tired, he did not really feel like sleeping. So he listened to the conversation the three men were making. About the final Shinigami being of one of the Division outside of the actual numbered one...he knew little about them since he mostly fought normal Shinigami. She was missing...gave him more time to recover. Then theories came about the goal of this whole ordeal, talks of a possible invasion of the creatures which made this thing happened... Interesting theory. Though as far as he saw, these creatures didn't need any additional info. One of them was enough to deal with some of the strongest Hollows he knew... And as far as he understood another beast appeared in the Shinigami realm, causing trouble as well...so it was surprising they just didn't all out attack whatever they wanted to. Interesting... he laid there still, not saying a word, interested just what would come out of their conversation. Derips wont be really participting in the conversation much unless he is directly spoken to, so feel free to post without waiting for me. If there are any problems with me hearing youre covnersation's, let me know so I can adjust acordingly

He did as the 'doctor' ordered, and remained still as he continued to mend his wounds. He could feel his energies being restored, the first step of Chiyudo. The light grey glow of the deserter's reiastu coating Malik and pouring into his wound.
"Bount?" He answered the question with a question, a deserter did not need to know classified information and as such, he would play stupid. "Creatures in children's stories, nothing more. Do not concern yourself with stories intended to frighten children." Katsu, Katsu, Katsu.. He would need to learn to keep his lips more sealed. One of his position should know how to keep information not intended for all ears, unsaid. Hopefully his other Captains knew better.
As for his theories.. He had to admit, he had a point. "An interesting theory, which raises more questions which we cannot answer at this time. So, we investigate.
"Our first round of matches are over, once we speak with Kimiko and give her our best wishes and blessing we put this island and it's inhabitants under the scope. I want you to see if you can learn from the other people brought here, discover what they know. Find out what they are. It is more than likely they know less than we do about the situation, but if you ask the right questions you may stumble across information you might not expect, like who 'asked' them to come here, if they have encountered beasts like we have, etc..
"I in the mean time, am going to try to speak to the one in charge. We have played our parts as we have been told. I wish to see who is pulling our strings and figure out why he or she, is doing it."

Rolling his eyes at Malik's response, Shuichi decided not the press the issue. Maybe Rikou or one of the other vizards would know more about it. Focusing more on healing Malik, Shuichi could see that he was nearly done.
Listening to Katsu's theory on the hosts of the tournament, Shuichi also began to wonder why they were hosting this tournament. "Well if he gets himself killed I won't have to heal him again." Shuichi, ever the optimist, thought to himself upon hearing Malik's plan. "Don't worry, you can go and try to find him soon. I'm nearly finished healing you." Shuichi said to Malik.

Katsu brushed off Malik's chastisement. What was the point of hiding the truth? The Bounts were just one of many skeletons in the Shinigami's closet. Still, if the old man wanted to cling to foolish lies and secrets, Katsu would let him. "Fraternize with the enemy...got it." He flashed a small smile at Malik, knowing full and well that this meant maybe indulging in one of his favorite vices: the consumption of alcohol. "If I find Kimiko, I'll stick with her and bring her to the Arena." He rose from the cot, scratching at his chin a bit and headed for the Tent Flap. "Heal up Malik, and try not to piss off the King or Queen or whoever the hell runs this place." He brushed passed the healer and left the tent, headed out to perform his task.

"Try not to enjoy your task, too much." He chimed in as Katsu rose and departed. Of course, he knew what Katsu would do, he'd find a bar sit himself down and get so shit faced he would be barely able to talk let alone stand. Fate was a cruel mistress to give Malik such trying subordinates. He truly hoped one day that film over Katsu would wear away and a real star would shine.
A stretch we all know, but a man can dream.
With Katsu gone and only the deserter to talk to, Malik turned his attention back to him. Truth be told, Malik didn't like talking, but with his new position he would need to talk far more than he did in his former. He needed the practice.
"So, you have you been away from Seireitei long, .. I am sorry I do not believe I caught your name. Terribly rude on your part, I must say. You know who I am after all, you could have at least given me a fake name."

Watching Katsu leave out of the corner of his eye, Shuichi knew that he should have felt as if the odds of him being brutally stabbed to death in his immediate future were lowered. Sadly Shuichi didn't have that feeling and instead felt that the odds of him being impaled were about the same even though there was one less trained killer in the room.
"Yes I suppose it was a bit rude of me. I was busy focusing on healing the various wounds that people were giving to each other." Shuichi glumly said. "But if you must know my name is Kano. And your wounds are now healed." Shuichi continued as he finished healing Malik's wound.

"Wounds we are giving one another, unwillingly for the most part." Malik chimed in, sitting up and examining the 'good doctor's' work. Yes, he did indeed seemed to be all patched up, though were he back in Soul Society he did not doubt he would be wrapped up to hold himself together. He was grateful this did not occur, doctor's got a sick joy out of making their patients look and at times, move and sound like Mummies. Malik for one, hated it.
Pulling on his bloodied uniform the Captain let slip a gentle sigh as he gave his braid a flip over his shoulder. "You should not complain about being able to help the injured, it is a noble gift and one you should be proud of. Many only have the power to ruin, destroy. You my boy, have the power to heal, restore.
"Nor should you be hard on those fighting. We are all here against our will, one way or another and while I am unable to speak for everyone here, I personally would much rather speak as a community than be forced to nearly hack one another in half." His eyes drifted to Derips, if only for a moment before returning their stone gaze to 'Kano', an obvious lie if he had ever heard one. "Mind you, there are exceptions.
"Regardless, thank you for your assistance. I shall not forget it."

Pondering a bit about what Malik had said, Shuichi knew that he would have to disagree. However he was not in the mood to get into a debate about what is and isn't a person's choice so he would let the matter drop.
Taken a bit off guard by Malik's statement about being able to heal, Shuichi nodded. He knew that it was a valuable skill that he had and he had every intention of using it on the people who needed it. "Thanks for the compliment." Shuichi said.
Having a sinking feeling that he would fall under the category of "Exception" if Malik did know what he was, Shuichi just hoped that if the time came he would not forget the assistance. "No problem. Try to be careful though." Shuichi said to Malik.

"I shall try, as should you." And with that seemingly dark message said, Malik rolled off his cot and ventured out into the world. Yes, he had indeed left the tent and now his search for the person who was behind all of this. The head haunco, the big boss, the top kahuna. You know who I mean.
Let's hope Malik did too.[exit] Crap post posted, sorry for the delays between my posting o.ob

It's fine. Sorry about my bad post. Nodding at Malik as he was wished well, Shuichi really hoped that was more of a polite warning instead of a hidden threat. Watching as Malik left, Shuichi the turned to face Derips and said to him, "So what do we do with you now?"Wondering if he should let Derips just lay there or try to heal him, Shuichi began to weigh the pros and cons of each decision. On one hand Derips would owe him a favor which might come in handy later. But on the other hand under any other possible scenario they would be enemies. Plus he was pretty sure the rather violent captain might stab him once or twice in the gut if he healed Derips or found out that he had healed Ulquioza.

After the first part the conversation didn't bring much more insight, just some more general musings, though the mention of these Bount things was kind of interesting, not something he ever encountered as far as he knew...at least sooner then later the two shinigami left the building in a sense. As he laid there in the bed, his body slowly mending himself still, by now the wound not looking so gruesomely open but still rather wide. As he was addressed by the healer, he kept his eyes closed for the time being as he spoke "Whatever you wish...though trying to deal the finishing blow might turn out badly... but if you are willing to heal a creature from a different race, then by all means, I cant really stop you..."(A question to Crazy, will derips have anything that might lead him to recongize you from the meeting in the Zoo, or are you looking difrently then than?)

Derips isn't talking to Shirio. He's talking to Shuichi so this would be there first meeting. Raising an eyebrow at Derips comment, Shuichi had a feeling that if he did try to finish Derips off it wouldn't end well for Shuichi. Deciding to see if Derips could give him a good reason to heal him, Shuichi said, "Well I'm willing to heal creatures of other races. But if you want me to heal your going to have to give me a good reason about why I would want to heal a hollow." Doing his best to put his prejudices against hollows aside for the moment, Shuichi would then pay attention to Derips to see if he could even give a reason for Shuichi to aid him in his injuries.

Listening him speak while he laid down, Derips took in a few deeper breaths, the process of regenerating the tissue still continuing, as he said "Hmm...willing to heal creatures of other species...that isn't a trait I would expect from anyone...especially with dealing with such a race as mine...Is it because of curiosity? Or maybe you are expecting some kind of repayment once you do the deed?" half musing to himself half talking to the healer before him. He guessed his tone might be slightly off putting, but he was genuinely surprised why would someone Non-Hollow be willing to assist him...humans could be strange creatures sometimes

Raising an eyebrow as Derips spoke, Shuichi considered what Derips had said. He had heard enough about what Derips was so he couldn't really say that he was curious. Shuichi couldn't really think of much to ask about the Arrancar given that he already has the essential facts. As for some type of repayment, Shuichi honestly couldn't even say what Derips could offer him. "Yeah I'm expecting repayment. Or I can just leave you alone if you want." Shuichi gloomily replied.

Still laying there, breathing steadily, he asked" Why would you be willing to help em in the first place? Its not a usual thing for the Shinigami to try and help their enemies... I can only guess you are tied with the Soul Reapers with how you can see me,and with the healing techniques you posses...What makes you willing to consider helping me in the first place?"

Rolling his eyes at Derips questions, Shuichi was a bit baffled by the hollow. He was offering help, and the hollow was asking about his motivations. Although to be fair, Shuichi couldn't completely blame him for being suspicious of his help. "No, I'm not really involved with them. And as I said I would expect repayment for helping you. You don't need to accept my help if you don't want it." Shuichi retorted to the hollow.

"Heh,I see...still kind of hard to believe you'd go through with it, but fair enough...just what kind of payment would you expect from me? I have a bit of the current human currency... as for favors, I will be kind of busy assuming I stay in this god damn competition, but I could squeez in some time...though not sure why you would need the help of someone like me..." As depressingly as his talk might have sounded, Derips was just talking what came to his mind to pass the time. Someone human like trying to help him was a completely foreign situation for him, so he just wanted to see where it would go...helped him pass the time as his wound mended himself.
