Profile Information
Name: Kagami
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Faction: Spiritually Aware Human
Rank: Companion/Pet of Taiko
Reiatsu Color: Grey
Reiatsu Aura: The feeling of standing in an empty, white room all alone.
Appearance:
With her rather small body, blue/purple eyes and pink hair, Kagami draws attention wherever she goes. Her blue eyes and pink hair being the cause. She wears two red ribbons to each side of her face, keeping her hair in place when she moves. If her clothes are removed, her upper back would show a rather large seal. A red circle, riddled with various symbols written on lines that follow the circle all the way around. The symbols themselves are incomprehensible for those not of her clan.
Personality:
Kagami's personality could be described as odd at best. She's a quiet person and will only speak if spoken to or if it seems appropriate. She will always take the current mood into consideration and always attempts to pick her words carefully.
Kagami is unable to make decisions with the sole exception being the use her abilities. She is therefore dependent on others to help her stay alive: buy her food, find her shelter and make sure she stays healthy.
The girl will find a person that requires her abilities and then stay with that person as long as that individual provides for her. If that person is defeated or killed by someone else, her "owner" will change as long as the victor wishes to keep her. If she is rejected, she might stay with the one who was beaten, or find another person.
For her, there is no right or wrong, only what is necessary and unnecessary. She considers Hollows eating humans for food to be the same as a hunter killing a deer for food. For both it is required for survival. Survival is for Kagami, the most important thing of all. The only thing she truly fears is death, the concept of what happens after her body ceases to function is to her incomprehensible, she fears what she doesn't understand.. Her fear of death combined with her inability to think for herself are the causes for her to wander from master to master, seeking the strongest person to care for her. Although many may call her disloyal, she is simply doing it to survive, the book she received from her parents being her guide in doing so.
History:
Sixteen years have now passed since Kagami was born into a family of spiritually aware humans. Sixteen long years. Kagami was born as the third child, the second daughter. A boy and a girl had already been born into the family, so Kagami was simply an extra. Even though she wasn't needed for anything, she still had the same right to live as everyone else. As such, she too received what her family called training. Kagami "Learned" to speak at the age of three, now capable to make herself understood, and to understand others, her "training" would commence, she was confined to a room, never allowed to leave it.
The first part of her so called training, was painful to say the least. Every single month her her parents would use tiny needles to form and reform the seal on her back. The repetition was necessary because as her body grew, the lines on the seal would break if nothing was done. She began to learn how to read the symbols that were etched on her back, their true meaning and how to create them.
Her parents taught her about how they saw the world. That there was no right or wrong. A twisted version of the world formed in her head; humans were not superior to anything. She was told tales about strange monsters that were called hollows, human like beings such as death gods. The Hollows ate humans, and the Shinigami killed them for it. Humans killed animals for food, but the Shinigami did not harm humans. For both humans and hollows it was necessary to devour the species below them, the Shinigami killed hollows that were just trying to survive. These tales were used to enforce the lessons about how no being was more righteous than another and that therefore, righteousness did not exist. The only thing that mattered was survival in the end.
Once these teachings had taken root, the next part of her training began. At the age of 8, Kagami preformed her first soul connection. To her, it was frightening. The sensation of losing ones senses, seeing the world through the eyes of another, yet being unable to decide where to look, what direction to face, what to do. She became used to it more and more as time went by, and half a year later she learned her first technique, bind of shielding.
Now that she was capable of being useful, she was moved to another location to continue her training. An underground fighting arena controlled by her parents to earn money. She told to use her powers in order to assist certain people. Manipulating the results of the matches to a certain degree. At this point, her powers weren't very strong, so although she did her best, the one who owned her would sometimes die, and she would be tasked with keeping the victor alive. The one she was to protect was let in on the whole deal, and for the assistance of this young girl, was tasked with taking care of her.
Kagami saw her parents less often at this point, being taught two new techniques, and practicing them for real, she grew in strength. To her it didn't matter now who her current master was, she didn't know anything about the outside world, how to do simple things like cook or buy food. She was never allowed to think for herself. She did what she was told to do, in order to live, to obtain food.
At the age of twelve, she had ensured the survival of her current master for half a year, fighting against opponents strengthened by her siblings that she never knew existed, and would never meet. Suspicions grew among those who frequented the arena. Her parents decided that she had gained enough worth to go without their protection. She was given a large book, containing several techniques she had not yet learned, and was sent into the world with her master.
Four years have passed since then. Her ownership has changed many times. She is unable to learn how to think for herself, always depending on her current master for even the most basic things. Her different masters would treat her differently. Sometimes the battles between her master and a challenger would result in neither dying. In her book it was written that such a thing could happen in the world, and that therefore she should go to the victor. She had a larger chance of surviving that way. Her book became what she lived by, her personal bible.
She has been treated in many different ways, some would treat her as a slave, others like a daughter, some like a pet. A few times her master would die and the victor would refuse to care for her. At first she knew not what to do, but such a scenario was mentioned in the book, she simply had to seek another warrior. She did as such, and began the cycle once again.
Now, as she's turned 16, a peculiar event has happened, both her master and his opponent died as a result of the battle, both stabbed each other through the heart at the same time, a fatal wound beyond the help of kagami. She must now search for a new master, someone to care for her. She must do so to ensure her survival. Now, who might this next warrior be?
Having been left behind in Kyoto, Kagami stood for several days, waiting in the alleyways of the city, hoping to find someone that could become her master. Six days after she had started to look, she found a potential candidate, with another one showing up moments later. Fighting commenced between the two of them and as one fled, the other, the hollowfied Llyr, stood alone with kagami, gravely wounded. Fearing for her safety, kagami fled the area, and started to look for someone else yet again. Not too much time passed until she met Lyra, whom took kagami under her wing as a friend for a rather short period of time, as they set off to search for her new master. Lyra wasn't truly informed of what it was kagami was going to do, but only knew that she was looking for someone strong. Having been acquainted with people who fit her description, she led Kagami on the path to Edo.
As luck would have it however, Lyra and kagami, having departed at a rather bad time (the road was covered in mud as a result of heavy rainfall), ran into all of those Lyra wished to introduce Kagami to at the same time. There, she singled out her next master, Mutabara Taiko. It was there decided that they head back to Kyoto, to visit a tea shop. The situation changed for the worse however, ( Kagami was vaguely aware of Lyra's obession of Taiko through previous conversations) as Lyra was very keen on keeping Taiko in her sights at all times, and regularly glared at kagami, whom had announced her interest in Taiko in a rather subtle way. As luck would have it, Lyra was distracted by a man Kagami knew only as Mihamaru, as he complained about not getting any food.
Seizing the opportunity that presented itself, Kagami took Taiko with her for a private conversation. Having walked for a bit into a rather dense forest near the river they had stopped by, she offered to serve him in return for her own protection. As she used her words rather craftily, she was easily able to persuade him, and as such, he became her new master. The agreement was finalized as she also took the opportunity to draw her blood seal on his shoulder. They then rejoined the group, going to Kyoto.
The arrival at Kyoto was a rather unusual one, as a loud voice had invited several people to a tournament, warning that those who didn't participate would have their loved ones suffer for it. After that, the small gang found an abandoned (temporarily) tea shop, where they sat down for a chat about what they should do next. And given the lack of a decisive alignment of it's makeshift leader Taiko, it was decided that they should simply wait and see what happened next, rejecting Lyra's ideas of turning it into a brothel of sorts for Hiroshin.
