Reiatsu Aura: The feeling that whatever you do, you wont be able to stop Kenta.
Appearance:
Personality:
At first glance Kenta is not a person one would be glad to have as a friend. Grumpy, untactful, just plain rude. The usual expression on his face is a scowl, the only variety being how annoyed it is. He cares little for what other people have to say about him, but doesn’t appreciate anyone butting into his business either way…
However, it not his true personality…well, at least not entirely. Because of his rather… unpleasant past, he uses such behavior as a safety buffer, in order for people to stay away from him. One would find it really hard to get through the shell he puts himself in. If someone would, he would find a rather normal person, and a loyal friend behind it, if only a bit easy to angry at times.
There are also other quirks in his personality. For example, he has a strong sense of justice. Whenever he sees something he views as unfair or bad, he feels compelled to take up action. Combined with his stubbornness, it can lead him to getting into some unnecessary trouble…but he usually thinks after he acts
Also, he has a massive need for freedom… He wants to live his life on his own accord, by his own rules, and will resist any sort of attempts to force him into anything… if he fails, he will simply wait till he recovers, and try again, with more ferocity then before.
Strength, fighting… these is the main principles in his life. However, he see’s them not as means to achieve political power or fame, but as a goal in at itself. In his free time, he is usually seen training, in whatever manner is possible for him. While he has no ill feelings with using weapons, he believes his own body is the greatest weapon, and focuses on perfecting his skills in hand to hand combat. He really enjoys sparring with others, and it is during a fight when he feel’s happy and in peace… Also, he doesn’t enjoy killing much, especially after a fight with a worthy opponent. However, he gets the job done when needed…and won’t hesitate to kill those who scorn him. The only exception are Hollows, which he will destroy with no remorse, seeing them as mere animals. Also, if someone strikes him as a bad or even “evil” person, he will try his best to hunt him down, and dispose of him.
One other thing he enjoys is the outdoors. Spending most of his life locked away from civilization, he appreciates the open spaces, whatever the surroundings might be.
History:
At first, Kenta’s life was one typical for someone of his status at those times. He was born in a peasant family, living in the outskirts of Kyoto on the lands of the local lord. In spite of their rather poor status, they were a happy family supporting each other through the hardships of life. Kenta tried his best to help, doing helping with his mother’s, and once he was big enough, fathers work on their piece of land. He was a hard worker from the start…but it would only get worse from now.
Due to the ever present power struggle, the owner of the lands they were on changed when Kenta was at the age of 10. For much worse, alas. He was the typical evil landlord, forcing those under him to work over their own abilities, rising taxes to abnormal levels…and confiscating any goods if the families could not pay. And so it happened that Kenta was the most precious good in his household, and was swiftly taken away from his home, in spite of his families cries.
The next few days, maybe weeks blurred away from Kenta memory…all he remembered was being hungry and exhausted… and then appearing before his new home. An iron mine, somewhere god knows’s how far from his home. He alter learned it was selling its stock in exchange for a lot of different things… including labor force. With lots of very shoddy looking people. He remembered the fear he felt, as the men started to gather around him…until someone told them to step away. An even bigger man, a giant in his eyes, higher then most of them by his torso. Without saying anything more, he cradled the exhausted child in his arms, and head away without a word.
During his years in the mine, Kenta never really learned the men’s name. He only knew he was big, came here a distant land somewhere across the sea’s as a merchants helper, and ended up being here because of a bandit raid on said merchants caravan… not much, but Kenta didn’t really mind. All he knew is that he was the only one he could consider a friend in the dark depths of the mines. He showed him the ropes of the trade, helped him out when he needed it, kept the other thuggish workers of his back. He also offered him a spot in his shack (he worked had enough time to build one… he couldn’t even remember how long was he imprisoned in that mine), and taught him what he knew about self defense…and he managed to learn a few tricks during his stay, and back home in his younger years…
For the most part, his life wasn’t all the different… only there was a lot more work. And a lot harsher… and in the sounds of sick, weakened slaves, thugs who wanted to release their frustrations on anyone on their way, and guards making sure they work harder then they should. Of course, It cased the young boy to grow more and more infuriated as well…but he decided to burn out the rage working in the mines, and while training with his mentor…it had quite a profound effect, as he grew to have a physique matching his… both of them seemed stronger then he rest, could work longer harder…something weird was in the pair. After busting some of the thugs heads, weather it be in self defense, or defending some other miner, he was soon left alone…though the guars did keep a closer eye on him, and “urged” him to work a bit harsher then the other’s… Still, it bought him the gratitude of the other unfortunate miners. In the little free time they had, they managed to teach him some more subtle talents, such as reading and writing. He managed to get by in this life that he had to lead.
Still, there were times where he just was tired of all this… his imprisonment, the hard work, everything… he just wanted to a spot to rest in peace… and he found one at the age of 15. While chipping away the ore from a more secure part of the mine, placed a few feet above the ground (he was sent there due to being strong enough to climb there on his own), he found a shallow part of the wall… a brilliant green light shining through it…. Chipping away further, he discovered a cavern filled with some sort of green crystals… he had no idea what they could be…surely not any mineral he ever heard of...he only knew he was mesmerized by them. There was dozens of them of several size, focused around a centre one, a pillar reaching to the caves upper part, as if it were there for god knows how long. The beautiful shapes, green shine, the warmth they gave out… he spent god know how long there, until the guards started calling him back. He would often return to this place, sometimes at night, sometimes during his shifts (though only when he was sent into the upper parts of the mine, as he didn’t want to risk it being found by his ventures into it)… for some reason, he just felt attracted to this spot… as if it was awakening something deep inside of him... and it seemed to react to his presence, the green crystals shining out even brighter.
It was like that for several years… and then it happened. He freshly turned 18, and was sitting in his favorite cavern at night…until he started hearing screams coming from the outside of the mine. Before he could go and cheeked what it what it was, it crashed through the cave’s wall… a black monstrosity, with a white, horrible face… he didn’t have time to react before it attacked. The fight, if one could really call it that was for the most part one sided. At first, Kenta stood little chance against the beats, being thrown like a ragdoll amongst the crystals, the sharps structures cutting through his skin, bits of the mineral getting into his blood without him seeing…he only knew he wasn’t getting tired, nor did he feel the pain. But still, his body gave away soon, and before he lost his consciousness, he could only see the beast stalking towards him...
and a men in black robes approaching it with a drawn blade
He awoke in a shack, but one he didn’t know, with his companion from the mines over him, tending to his wounds. He felt numb all over his body, so couldn’t do much but lie down as he listened to the men speak. He explained the bits of information he knew about what happened in the cave, that the beast was called a Hollow, and how it was lured there by a power stored within the crystal, and as it turned out, in Kenta as well…Reiatsu. The Mentor reminiscent on his past, when he found the cavern himself, which also awakened the inner power within him. And just like now, a Hollow was lured there, and just like then, Kenta owed his life to a being called a Shinigami… his mentor found him unconscious in the cavern, with the crystal shattered this time… guess this shinigami was not as trusting in humans as the one who saved the mentor, and even took the time to explain what the crature was, and what atracted it to this place. Guess the shinigami trusted the spiritually awear human would make sure the cavern would be safe if he knew more about the situation. It was then the meontor learned of Reiatsu, And the Hollows. He of course knew no one would belive him, so he kept the knowladge to himslef, till now. After the shinigami went away, the mentor seall the cavern away… something he could do better, seeing Kenta found it. After the battle with the monster, his friend found him, and using the commotion caused by the beasts attack, quickly fled, amongst all the other salves that managed to do so. He also noted that now the crystal’s were gone for the cave…and as the men pointed to Kenta’s arm, he turned to see it covered with the same mineral.
The men could only hues that somehow Kenta had to “bond” with the crystal, thanks to them being attracted to his Reaitsu. Still, it didn’t seem to render his limb useless, as he could move it to some margin. The rest of his body recovered well, only the claws scars on his back marking his battle with the beast. As for the crystal, for the first few days it kept spreading through his arm, but Kenta noticed that the spread slowed down if he really focused on it. Once again guessing it might had something to do with his awakened Reiatsu, the mentor tried his best to tech Kenta all he knew about this energy, and how to control it. As it turned out after a few days of rest, Kenta could control the minerals within him to a certain degree, as he removed it from one hand, only to make it cover the other. It took him a few more days, and some urging yet soothing words from his friend, but he managed to. But it was something he should have learned on his own. Once Kenta fully recovered, the two companions decided it was time to split ways. While his protector went on his own accord, hoping to try and return to his home land, Kenta decided to return to his own home… what would happen after, who could know?
The first two years of his freedom went a rather slow pace, as he wanderd around the lands, doing od jobs to sustain himslef, and potentialy not return home empty handed. He also had a few chance encounters with these "Hollow' creatures, but neither ws truly eventufull...the truly interesting encounters were with thw monsters difrent then the black creatures, one of which seemed nigh unstopable, while the other seemed to only care about inviting people to some sout of tournament...speaking of normal people, he also had a few chances to encounter an unusal bunch of humans... almost as if some force above wanted them to stick together...
