Name: Daidouji Malik
Gender: Male
Age: 1703
Faction: Shinigami
Rank: Soutaicho in Waiting
Reiatsu Color: Crimson Red
Reiatsu Aura: Nobility; like standing in awe of someone of great importance.
Appearance:
As head as his house, Malik wears the traditional beaded necklace with the family crest carved into the center bead which can be seen hanging around his neck at all times. He stands at a height of 5'11", with an athletic build. His skin is oddly pale for the amount of time he spends outside. His hair which is tied back into a thick braid, hangs a foot and a half shy of the end of his tailbone. It's a ghostly shade of white yet his eyebrows are black. His eyes are hazel in colour and seem like an bottomless ocean when stared into which can trigger a trance like state if you state too long.
His uniform is fairly standard, the typical Shihakushō and a one armed Haori with his division logo upon it's back, its colouring a royal blue within. The sash around his waist is white with purple markings upon it, being the symbol of his house.
His voice is deep and has that wise sage sound to it. One could compare it to Patrick Stewart's.
Personality:
Cold. Malik is a little hard to get to know for he keeps himself distant from a majority of people, which gives him the appearance of being smug. He appears to have a keen and focused mind which he puts to use when it comes down to delivering sentence, by carefully going over all the facts and seeking things others may have missed. Skills his father insured to teach him before he took up the mantle of the Taichō of the Sixth Division. He doesn't say a lot, but he does speak, albeit small paragraphs cutting right to the point or a single word response. He demands perfection from himself and those who serve him, both in his division and at home.
However once you get past his defensive traits he can be quite warm and caring, though he still doesn't speak much, which can be a bit frustrating as you can imagine. Or he'll say too much and shock the hell out of just about anyone.
In combat he isn't much different. He'd rather not dilly dally about and cut right to the chase, using the necessary amount of power he deems fit to get the job done. Which again can come off as smug, which in all honesty it is.
He enjoys painting, sculpting, playing music, tending to his garden and trying new foods, and is terrified of going to see a doctor.
History:
Malik was born on a cool spring evening nearly two thousand years ago, his coming was a celebrated time for the Daidouji clan for he would be the only heir his parent's would produce, fortifying the next line of Nobility. As he grew the young white haired boy was constantly teased and picked on by other boys his age for having such an unusual hair colour, something neither of his parents understood as it was fairly common in their family.
At a young age it was deduced Malik was not to be taken lightly, always three steps ahead of other young Shinigami to be his age, proving beyond a doubt he would be filling his father's shoes completely when the time came.
Regardless, this did not stop the other children from having their fun with the pale boy. Pranks after pranks he suffered at their hands and only once did he ever lose his cool enough to unleash a small wave of Kidō which badly burned one of the boys, the rest later ratted him out for. It would be the first and last time his father disciplined him, telling him that as a Daidouji it was his place to be a shining example to other Shinigami, and not to let his emotions govern his actions.
He took it to heart.
The years went by fairly quickly from there, not letting things really bother him (not that those kids did so anymore) and like many of his kin he enrolled into the Shinigami academy. Rather than attending the full six years of the Academy, Malik graduated in five having already communed with his zanpakutō enough to gain it's sealed form, due to his father giving him private lessons for many years before he even attended the school.
During the few days in which he had to rest up before the graduation ceremony where he would be selected by a Taichō and placed into a Division, however ever the noble diplomat decided he should throw his son a celebration party. Not one who enjoyed parties, or people for that matter Malik did everything in his power to stay out of the public eye. He failed terribly as his mother led him into a sneaky trap.. Luring him with tasty food..
Oh the temptress she..
Once there he was met by his entire family at the time, along with a few other members of Nobility within the city. When the young Malik asked why so many people were here for such a small event such as a Shinigami's graduation Malik's father announced he was stepping down as head of the household. It was his father's wishes that Malik take the reigns of the house hold now, so he could begin to tutor him in the ways of governing a household. This would aid him to in becoming a better leader and person.
Many a year followed where Malik served in the Sixth Division under his father and was advised in the ways of governing his household. He would grow from a teenager to a man. As this went on he started to better understand his own abilities, much to Shinkukaze's disapproval as it was quite content with being left alone. However as time went on he eventually bested his zanpakutō in a series of struggling trials and mastered his zanpakutō to a degree where he was able to achieve her final form, Bankai. He was about to take his Captain's test, when he had to over see a wedding ceremony. This would be the first time he would meet his soon to be god daughter, and to many people's surprise lovely niece.
Upon the day in which Malik was going to take his test the unthinkable happened. A Vasto Lorde entered the living plain, one last push from the Hollow at the end of the war.
Deciding it would be a worthy test and that three skilled Shinigami Captains would be more than enough anyways, Malik along with three other Taichō left Soul Society to engage this beast. And using their combined skills they bested the Hollow, purifying it before it had time to devour a single innocent soul.
Afterward it was deemed he was indeed ready to take over his father's mantle of Taicho, whom soon stepped down and became a member of the governing body, formerly being a Noble head. It was at the Captain's meeting where his rank was officially announced to the other Captains.
A few years went by when Daidouji Kuniko, mother of Makato went into labor and much to his dismay Malik had to deliver it. Why? The Fourth Division couldn't make it in time and the house doctors were away in the Rukongai helping the sick. Things weren't going well, not at all. She was losing a lot of blood and by the looks of it the child was stillborn and then.. “OH MY GAWD WHAT IS THAT DID THAT THING COME OUT OF YOUR STOMACH OKAASAN?!” Malik turned holding the already dead child, her mother slipping into darkness to see Makoto pointing at the bloody mess that was Malik. “IT’S DISGUSTING!!”
Calmly, Malik handed the tiny body to one of the house staff and walked up to the young Makoto, took her in his arms and with a use of shunpo whisked her back to her room, where he told her to not only to stay put but to change into something not covered in blood. A few days later Malik took Makato aside, sat her down and told her everything. Wiping away the tears on her tear stained face that he told her he would take care of her, and raise her as he would a child of his own. Her only blood in the world was gone now, so he would fill that void.
The years stretched on and things were looking pretty good for the latest Daidouji Taicho, yes he did have the odd hindrance in the shape of Makoto but all in all things were good. However, that's when strange disappearances started to occur. He along with his division searched in vain for the missing Shinigami, and the R&D Founder Rikou.
One long year passed before any clues were found, when Rikou himself reappeared. He claimed daring and treasonous things and created monsters in his own image, Vizard. It was soon after he fled escaping his punishment, which caused Malik to get a little tiffed, to add fuel to the fire, word in secret came to Malik, telling him that Rikou claimed to be the very Vasto Lorde which Malik had fought to prove his worth as a Taichō candidate. It would be the first time in many, many years he had to fight to keep control of his temper.
Killing his 'offspring' however did make things a bit easier. And for many a year that is exactly what he did, slaying every Vizard he came across within Soul Society in the last two hundred years. He has made it his personal vow to eradicate the enemy of the state Gakushiki Rikou, and to kill any of his monsters along the way.
Over time, things in Soul Society started to return to normal. Things were being rebuilt, positions within the different rankings being filled but there was still something amiss. Over the last few years Malik had noticed his God daughter and glorified niece, Makoto was missing. Worried for her well being, he sent his Fukutaichō Masato to look for her. Sadly, he found no trace of her.
A type of Hollow Malik had never seen before were spotted in the human realm. He along with Katsu and the Fourth Division Captain at the time, went to investigate. It was there he met and discovered what they were, Arrancar what more, Espada. While questioning one, he was forced to attack another, defending the life of a Quincy girl. Afterward a long and tedious chase took flight. Eventually he pinned down the Espada he engaged, only to be disrupted by two other Arrancar. He slew the one, while Katsu took care of the other. However, to his annoyance the Espada was able to flee, albeit with severe injuries.
It wasn't long after that, that Soul Society was invaded by some monster. It seemed immune to Malik's attacks and only due to pure luck was a weakness discovered, but to little to late, for it fled shortly afterward spewing the Captain it swallowed out before hand.
It was then decided for Malik that he needed a wife, and thus became engaged to Daidouji Chiyoko, head of his family security. While preparing for the wedding, Soul Society was attacked once again by another large beast, this time attacking the heart of Soul Society, The Central Forty-six.
He went to engage the beast, only to be invited to a Tournament. To his disbelieve once the invite was given to him and two others, the beast left, but not without making a terrible threat. If he did not attend, he and everyone he loved would be slain.
Using the time between then and the Tournament to keep himself busy, with a mission. A Vizard sighting was reported and he wishing to take vengeance on Rikou, led the team personally. However it was folly. One mishap after another took place, leaving him to losing the entire trail. There was a silver lining however, Makoto, his god daughter stumbled upon them. What she was doing in the Human realm he could not say, but he did no hesitate.
He captured her and instructed her to be taken back to Soul Society, it was a long shot, but the only way he could understand how she was able to stay out of the eyes of Soul Society was that she was with the Vizard. It made knots in his stomach just thinking about, but it was the only thing that made any sense.
Before returning home, he was greeted with a message. The Sōtaichō had died. He went back through the Senkai as soon as possible to be greeted with another message informing him to go to the First Division compound. There, he met with the gathered Central Forty-six and was informed upon his return from the Tournament, he would be made Sōtaichō of the Gotei.
He accepted.
