Profile Information
Name: Chikaru Nagisa
Gender: Female
Age: 270
Faction: Shinigami
Rank: Medical and Maintenance Fukutaichō
Reiatsu Color: Light Azure
Reiatsu Aura: An intense fear suddenly comes across one's mind.
Appearance:
Personality: A fun, outgoing style of life hides her true persona. While she is almost never seen without a smile on her face, she is rather feisty. Switching at the drop of a dime, her naturally destructive nature can easily take center stage and, at times, cause more trouble than it's actually worth. The trait that lends to her hand is undoubtedly her fearlessness. Even with all this, there still remains one thing that she avoids at all cost..
Anything even remotely resembling paperwork.
History: Always looking for her next thrill, Chikaru found it enjoyable living in the 62nd district of the Rukongai. She quickly earned a reputation for reeking havoc and causing chaos. Though no one could ever actually prove she did anything that she was accused of. Generally choosing to 'work' during the evening or night, she was rarely seen during the day. When she was though, she could been seen sitting or kneeling atop the many rooftops, staring into the distance.
On a rather dull day, as she wandered through the district, she stopped and peered into a rather known bar after hearing a bit of commotion. It was obvious to her, and anyone else, that another fight had broken out. Just as she was prepared to walk away, something she hadn't seen before caught her eye. A shinigami. As the shinigami left the bar, having broken up the fight, she locked eyes with him. Not a look of intimidation, but one of wonder crossed her face. "Who the hell is he?"
Jetting from corner to corner, rooftop to rooftop, she followed he oddly dressed man. Though she hadn't the slightest idea that he knew. With the man finally stopped, she now knew what he was as he approached the walls of the Seireitei. Instantly, she became determined to see with her own eyes exactly what lied beyond the mysterious walls.
Just hours later, in the dead of night, Chikaru was once again vaulting through the night, one destination in mind. Over rooftops, through alleys, and around corners she went, believing she could find an unguarded entrance. As she took a final leap from a roof, she landed squarely, about ten feet from the door she saw moments ago. As she brushed her hair back from her face and looked up, her eyes widened and jaw dropped. A look of disbelief appeared on her face.
"About time. What took you so long?" Without uttering so much as a word, she once again locked eyes with the shinigami she had seen leaving the bar. "Unless you're using that mouth as a fly trap, I suggest you shut it. Now follow me." As he turned, sauntered beyond the doors, still speechless, she followed. All she could do was wonder what was next as she took her first steps beyond the forbidden walls..
During her years at the Shinigami Academy, Chikaru was not what you'd call a 'model student'. She didn't have the highest marks, nor was she considered to have the greatest potential. The one thing she excelled in was her speed, both physically and mentally. Whether she lost her footing during sparring, or misfired during Kidō practice, she was always quick enough to cover her own mistakes. At times, she was even able to turn such mistakes and use them to create new openings. A hot tempered spirit and ability to think on her feet under any circumstances set her apart from the others. While still incredibly young, she graduated, allowing her entry into he Gotei 13.
Loving nothing more than to be in the heat of things, she dreamed of nothing more than being assigned to the 2nd Division. With her natural talent for quick yet quiet movements, there is no where else she'd possibly fit in, or so she believed. Upon graduating from the Academy, she was quickly assigned to the 4th Division, the Medical Corps, much to her dismay. Chikaru began sitting out assignments, believing that she would be re-assigned if her actions spoke loud enough. Through several disciplinary actions handed down to her, she learned that she was not going to get her way, at least not this time. Regardless of her distaste for her placement, she was assigned to the 4th Division, and she was stuck there.
Chikaru began standing out amongst others in her division. While many were intensely focused on being able to treat others, her focus on her combat separated her. This separation enabled her to quickly, and rather easily gain higher rankings. For someone so young, and one whose abilities were still so immature, she became one of the 4th Division's premier fighters. After a while, her promotions began to come fewer and far between. While her abilities in combat were noted and appreciated, she still veered off when it came to her primary duty; providing support and treatment to those who are injured.
Having reached 5th Seat, she noticed one primary difference between her and others of similar rankings; A sealed zanpakutou. Even to this point, she had been using a basic blade, handed to her after being given her first assignment. Each night she would fall asleep, cursing the world over as she longed to hold power within her hands. Little did she know, she was to obtain it sooner than she realized.
Several hours after falling sleep, she seemingly awakened, but not to the barracks she had grown accustomed to. As she rose to he feet, her eyes widened as she took in all that surrounded her. Seemingly endless mountains sprawled out in every which way, and a pouring rain that drenched the world about her. All the young woman could do was ask herself where she was, although she was more than aware that she wouldn't be able to answer her own question. With the constant rain, Chikaru decided it was better to find shelter before figuring out where she was and how to get back. Just as she prepared to step off, a roar of epic proportions came from behind her, nearly knocking her off balance. Her eyes grew larger as she slowly turned to see what had made such a noise. She instantly froze as her eyes fell upon the largest creature she had ever seen. For the first time in her life, she wasn't just scared, she was terrified.
Unable to think of a way out of this, Chikaru began running for her life. Scaling up and down mountain sides as she moved, her mind wouldn't allow her to look back, only to wonder what it was that she saw. Finally, after what seemed like hours of running she stopped to catch her breath, only to be caught off guard by three lightning bolts striking the ground behind her. Realizing that no matter where she ran to, all she could see was more mountains, rain, and hear the heaving breath of the large beast behind her; so she decided to make her final stand. What had she to fear? If this was where she was going to die, how in the hell could running change that? With a deep breath and her eyes tightly shut, she pivoted to face her opponent. Her body stood still, shaking halted, as she listened to the enormous beast close in on her. Just as she could feel its breath on her face, it was seemingly gone. Unsure of what had happened, she opened her eyes, only to find that the beast was nowhere in sight. She could only blink as she looked down, noticing a strange guard-less blade stuck into the ground before her. Suddenly, a voice echoed throughout her head, delivering a message it seemed. "Fear is a weakness. In order to defeat one's opponent, one must have the strength to first face it." As the message echoed in her head repeatedly, she reached out, taking hold of the hilt of the blade. As she did, she awoke, panting heavily, and a new blade leaning against the wall beside her. A grin sprawled across her face as she laid eyes on her zanpakutou.
While she had acquired her zanpakutou, Chikaru was aware that there was still power she had yet to obtained. Believing that her zanpakutou would reveal itself to her within time, she became more reckless. Seemingly leaving behind anything that resembled a logical attack, Chikaru constantly charged in battle, believing that this 'fearlessness' was what the voice she had heard told her to be. Little did she know what it truly meant..
Chikaru had been sent to help assist a number of Shinigami in the world of the living that had been pinned down by a number of hollow. Several others from the 11th and 3rd Division were to be dispatched upon their return to the Soul Society. A grin sprawled across her face as she arrived at the site. It was a gross number of hollow that had caused the issue, and injured several Shinigami in the process. Simply seeing this as fun to be had, she leaped at the opposition. Her only goal was to bring down the Hollow, and not to save the others. As she dueled with the monstrous beings, she came to a rather disturbing realization; no matter what she did, the numbers were too great for her. Chikaru now found herself pinned down with the others, facing down a number of Hollow that seemingly had not decreased. Without warning, the Hollow began to swarm down toward Chikaru and the group of injured Shinigami.
She closed her eyes, anticipating what was surely the end. As soon as her eyes shut, she began to feel wet, as if she was being doused in some type of liquid. As she reopened her eyes, she found herself in a familiar place. She was once again surrounded by unending, unforgiving peaks, and a rain that never came to a halt. A voice then slipped into her ears, similar to the one from before, yet this voice sounded almost....human. "Are you still afraid? What the hell do you have to fear? Death? If you die, then so do I. I'm not going down that easily. If you want to lay down and quit, do it on your own."
She lifted her head, eyes toward the black skies above her. Her lips slowly began to curl into a smile. "Who said anything about dying?"
"Then quit shaking! Open your eyes! And let them hear my name!"
As she reopened her eyes, her lips in a twisted grin and a new spark in her eye, she raised her zanpakutou, pointing it towards the sky. "Byakuei!" She yelled the name with a new fire and determination in her voice. Suddenly, the incoming Hollow were stopped, almost repelled. Chikaru continued to grin, able to hold the barrier until necessary reinforcements arrived. She had discovered something she hadn't known before; power comes in more than one form.
While she had not planned to actually prevent anyone from dying, but rather to to find a way to increase her own strength, she had decided to keep that to herself. Chikaru was rewarded for her efforts, and for saving her fellow Shinigami. The position of Fukutaichō within the 4th Division was open, and offered to her. She hadn't truly desired such a position within the 4th Division. But with more rank came more pay, and that was something she simply wasn't passing up. Chikaru gladly accepted her new assignment as Fukutaichō of the 4th Division.
