Profile Information
Name: Shikigami Kazuo
Gender: Male
Age: 1432
Faction: Shinigami
Rank: Dai-Kidocho
Reiatsu Color: Dark Purple
Reiatsu Aura: The sickening feeling of losing your grip on reality, wondering whether you’re awake or dreaming, if what you see is real.
Appearance: Kazuo is tall and lean, athletic despite his general hatred of physical activity. His hair is black and shoulder length, and often gets in his way when he is working, much to his irritation. At roughly six feet, he is able to look down at most of his subordinates, which certainly helps when giving orders. His eyes tend to be sharp and piercing, a dark blue in color. He generally appears to be looking through someone, his mind elsewhere, which unnerving for many.
Generally dressed in a typical Shinigami outfit, he despised the previous uniform of the Dai-Kidocho, and has instead replaced the purple coat with a hooded cloak, dark blue in color. It is generally draped around his shoulders, and has a number of pockets sewn in to it for the storage of small items. Clasped with a silver crescent moon, it is otherwise rather simple in design.
Personality: Kazuo has, over time, developed a rather twisted view of the universe. Curious by nature, his mastery over Kidō led him to further examine the energies that he was manipulating, and the fabric of the universe itself. His realizations were rather unsettling to him, and while he has not shared many of his discoveries, he is often withdrawn, retreating in to his own thoughts for extended periods of time. He seems to occasionally forget that people around him exist, his eyes staring off in to some unknown void. It can be rather unsettling for those attempting to converse with him.
His mood tends to swing, sometimes quite violently, between extremes. One moment he may be calm and composed, and the next ranting and hurling objects around a room. Nobody is quite sure what sets him off, and many people are seriously question his sanity at times. On rare occasions, he can be quite sociable, taking time to instruct other Shinigami in the arts of Kido, or lecture them about philosophy and the nature of the universe. One has to catch him in the correct mood to get anything useful out of him, however, and there is no guarantee that he won’t decide that his student is merely a collection of randomly vibrating particles and energy and cease to pay attention to them.
History: Kazuo show his aptitude for Kidō from a young age, constantly impressing his instructors with his natural talent and innovative approaches. He also tended to terrorize him for his reckless disregard for safety. Despite numerous counts of property destruction and injury (mostly to himself), Kazuo did eventually manage to graduate. He displayed a great interest in Kido, and was eager to learn more, improving his skills and growing his power. It was this, combined with a lack of enthusiasm for the strict militant organization of the other Divisions that led him to the Kidō Corps.
He found the Corps to be as enlightening as he had expected, learning new Kido, new ways to use it, ways to improve and adapt it. His power grew rapidly, and he studied obsessively, absorbing all of the information he could. In time, however, he grew curious about the nature of these powers. He spent increasing amounts of time studying the nature of Reiatsu, its behavior and properties, as well as the manipulation of it. He grew intrigued by the composition of energy, and how it formed the universe around them.
At that point, his studies were more curiosity than anything else, though the ‘extra-curricular’ studies certainly did seem to impress his peers. His continued work on Kidō allowed him to rise through the ranks, and over hundreds of years, he grew closer and closer to the top. Eventually, his old Captain died in the line of duty, and a new leader had to be chosen. Kazuo’s years of service, as well as his natural talent, skill at creating Kido, and his research in to the nature of Reiatsu left him as a prime candidate. The process was lengthy, but, he eventually was elected in to his new role.
His new duties brought new responsibilities, but never hindered his ability to work, improve, and research. His studies continued, but took a different turn. He delved further and further in to the nature of the universe, often isolating himself for long periods of time. Some said that it had adverse affects on his sanity. True or not, it certainly did affect him. He spent more and more time withdrawn in to his own thoughts, and often seemed unaware of people around him, occasionally launching incomprehensible talks about meta-physics, and how reality as everyone perceived it was a lie.
Despite being rather anti-social, often incomprehensible, and occasionally rather unstable, Kazuo has retained his position, and is even respected in his field. He continues to improve his Kido, and also continues his research in to other fields. As they say, however, when you stare in to the abyss…
