Profile Information
Name: Inuma Akato
Alias: Akuta
Gender: Male
Age: 75
Faction: Shinigami
Rank: Unseated Combat and Defense Shinigami
Reiatsu Color: Dark Red
Reiatsu Aura: Fractured, like looking into a cracked mirror.
Appearance: While the two personalities carry themselves differently, and sometimes put more stress on certain muscles, they are still generally recognizable by a few key points. They are five foot seven inches, although the fact that their uniform is one size too big makes them seem to be shorter. They also have dark red hair, although they wear it differently, with Akato having it unkempt, and covering his eyes a bit, while one of Akuta's first actions upon waking up is to brush it back, so that it stands on ends. Finally, they have light blue eyes, with Akuta's always trapped in an angry glare.
Personality: The trauma Akato suffered as a child gave rise to a second personality that Akato simply refers to as "Akuta". While the two of them can talk to each other when they are both "active", and both know the same information, they still have distinct personalities.
Akato
Despite becoming a full-fledged shinigami, Akato is still the same shy, introverted boy that was constantly told to redeem the Inuma family. More often than not, he will move out of the way, or in extreme cases, downright hide from those of higher positions than him, including higher division seats and nobility. In his free time, he usually attempts to read, and keep Akuta from causing problems.
Akuta
As opposed to Akato, Akuta is frequently loud and rude, frequently breaking into long streams of obscenities. Akuta is a clear believer in the theory of "the best defense is a good offense", and will rush headfirst into danger with his zanpaktou above his head. Outside of a fight, he seems to always be trying to get into one, although if it is intentional or simply an effect of his quick temper is a mystery even to himself.
History: 1000 years ago, the Inuma family was a lower noble house in Soul Society. Although the exact details have been lost to history, what is known now is that the clan head, in a fit of jealousy, gathered all of the able-bodied fighters in the family, and attempted a coup. Despite their numbers, they were no match for the power of the other noble families in Soul Society, excluding the Gotei 13 itself. At their sentencing, the Central 46 ordered every member of the family who had took part in the coup to be immediately executed, and those that remained were to be cast out into Rukongai, and their noble titles revoked.
Long after the Inuma family fell into obscurity, to the point where even most nobles would forget it ever existed, Akato was born to the last remnants of the once mighty Inuma family. Since he was old enough to walk, he was trained to use a sword, the basics of reiatsu manipulation, and other shinigami arts. More importantly, he was taught that it was his duty to somehow atone for a crime commuted centuries his grandfather, his trainer, and a survivor who was simply too young to participate in the original battle, would beat him savagely if he ever questioned what was deemed his duty, while his mother simply watched drunkenly. Each time, he cowered, trying to convince himself that it wasn't his fault, and that it wasn't happening to him.
One night, during another beating, he eventually blacked out during the fight. When he woke up, he saw the horrifying image of his grandfather and his mother, beaten to death in their own home. Looking around, he quickly saw his own practice sword covered in their blood. Before the murderer could have him rest with his family, Akato quickly left the house, with only the clothes on his back. With no where else to go, he simply wandered around Rukongai, occasionally scrounging up some food for him to eat. Every once in a while, he would wake up somewhere different from where he fell asleep, but he payed it no mind.
One day, a large man found him, and started attacking him, blaming him for the injuries of his lieutenants, including one death. Rather than sit there and get hurt, Akato simply ran, before being finally caught, and held down. As he started to pass out, his body started moving on his own. As he watched himself take out each of the opponents, he finally manages to gain a degree of control over himself, pulling away from the half-dead boss, he attempts to communicate with whatever is controlling him, by drawing messages into the ground. Although it didn't last long, he eventually found out that the presence is the one that killed his family, yet also defended him from those who would kill him.
After realizing that the longer he stays in Rukongai, the more fights he'll get into, Akato decided to attempt to join the shinigami academy. Luckily, he still remembered his grandfather's lessons, and was admitted easily enough. While he was able to keep up with the classes, Hakuda aside, he spent most of his time trying to control the being that possessed him that day, which he started calling Akuta. It wasn't until his final year in the academy that his efforts finally bore fruit. After realizing that, rather than an outside force possessing him, that Akuta was actually another personality within him, he managed to learn how allow Akuta to take control of his body, and even hear Akuta's voice at all times. Akuta's berserker fighting style gave him enough of the edge over his fellow students, and let him graduate from the academy.
Despite a bad first impression with the fifth seat in the division, especially after an exhibition match involving the Omnitsukido, Akato was accepted into the division, before ever meeting the captain.
