Rank: 4th Division Taichō

Reiatsu Aura: Like you just realized you forgot an important item.
Appearance:
Ryo is a simple 6' tall man, weighing in at about 180 lbs with blonde hair and purple eyes.
Personality: Ryo is quite the nerdy person, a far cry from his life of adventure as a human, after coming to soul society he toned down his personality, wanted to write history rather then make it. He's quiet but not the reserved quiet, he will speak up if he feels something is wrong or right or just to chime in.
History: Takudo Ryosei was born to a farmer and his wife in a small village near the ocean. He has always shown an aptitude for learning at a young age, but even then, his aspiring ideas about how to improve his fathers land and efficiency for farming amazed most people in the area. His parents absolutely doted on Ryo, ignoring his sister for him for the most part in family affairs. However, when Ryo was 15 his sister was found to be dead, going into town and not returning. All they found was that she had bruises all over her body and a stab wound in her chest. This hurt Ryo both mentally and physically as he became rather withdrawn, his aspirations seemingly dulling as the family death hit him hard.
Unfortunately, the worse was yet to come, as a few years later when he was 16, fire was found near the village, and as the small militia of the village looked at it, bandits surprised them and killed them, taking over the village as their own. Ryo's parents kept him hidden, enduring the torture and humiliation of the bandits until they gathered the villagers in the main house of the area, and burned it to the ground, leaving after the deed was done. Ryo came out of his hiding place under his parents his and touched the ground in front of the main house, crying for almost 3 days before working up the resolve to do things on his own. He took a katana he liked in the blacksmiths workshop and a knife, as well as some clothes and what food remained and set out into the woods to help who he could, in hopes that no one would feel what pain he felt in losing the ones he loved.
Donning a cape and a mask, he became a savior to the poor, raiding the bandits camp at night he snuck his way around, slitting the guards throats as he entered the tent he thought was full of treasure. Alas, it held the bandit king and his daughter, the former of which kicked Ryo out of the tent and into the main area, the bandits all gathering around in a circle in preparation for a fight. Ryo drew his sword, the bandit leader drawing his own as they clashed, sparks flying from the metal as clash after clash was heard, the jeers and cheers of the audience audible for miles in every direction. Ryo looked into the bandits eyes, sword clashing once more as he feigned losing his balance, the bandit taking a high hard swing down as Ryo dodged left, swinging upwards as he slashed across the bandits chest, him falling to the ground. Ryo took his money and departed, the bandits in shock, but a figure grabbed the leaders sword and ran after Ryo.
In the forest Ryo counted the money in the small pouch as a rock flew at him, hitting him in the head. He looked over to see a beautiful girl in a flowing dress, looking familiar as the bandit leaders daughter he just saw. She pulled out the sword and charged at him, Ryo taking out his own sword and slashed at her clothing. Surprisingly, the lady does as well, shedding Ryo's shirt as she pulled off the bottom of her dress, it becoming a skirt of sorts now. Ryo took his mask off as he assumed an aggressive stance, the woman assuming a neutral one as Ryo lunged forward, she doing the same. The swords clashed and slid. the blades slashing off each others clothes until they stood face to face, their bodies touching being the only thing keeping their clothes in place as they kissed, encoiled in passion now from the fight.
Ryo woke up the next morning with the hot barista next to him, she looking into his eyes and he into hers. He started to get up but was stopped as a sword came across his neck, a trio of bandits behind him. He looked over to the lady as she donned some clothes and ordered them back to the camp, tying Ryo to a post in the ground. Looking up at her, he stared in disbelief as she came at him and slowly slid her sword into his chest, tears coming into his eyes as she kissed him one last time. Ryo's last breath then escaped him and she left to go back into the main tent, assuming her role as the new bandit leader.
Ryo woke up, much to his surprise, with his body still on the post. The camp had been long abandoned and a figure clad in black robes stood before him, writing something in a book. He got to his knees and realized a weird chain was on his chest, which startled Ryo considerably as he had no idea what was going on. The man, who we know as a shinigami, said he had been following him since he performed konso on his parents, thinking he would suffer a similar fate, but was surprised and had started writing a story of his adventures. He was sad it had to end, but all good things must come to an end, and the shinigami pulled out his zanpakutō and performed konso, Ryo being sent to Rukongai.
Rukongai, as Ryo found out, was an interesting community, the inner places being well kept and nice, but the outer being full of ruffians and sly people. Ryo stayed in the middle areas, working as a construction worker and keeping the building from becoming run out, repairing a roof or a window when it was needed. He was loved by the community, but like all communities, it had its bad apples. A business man was known by the people to be a corrupt individual, but no one could do anything. However, enough people reported it so the Gotei 13 had to take action, and a shinigami was sent to take care of him.
The shinigami turned out to be the same one that konsoed Ryo. They talked for a bit, the shinigami handing Ryo his book that detailed hsi adventures, saying he should have it as a reminder of what he did. Ryo accompanied the man to the residence, letting Ryo take his zanpakutō so he would look more like a peacekeeper. Unfortunately Ryo heard a scuffle erupting and entered the house, finding two men on the ground, seemingly paralyzed while the shinigami was on the ground, bleeding with a sword through his chest, the owner of which was still holding the blade, the pompous business man, Ryo was infuriated and unsheathed the zanpakuto, slicing off the mans head before he could react.
Ryo was found not guilty of murder, finding it to be in self defense and in the defense of the shinigami, who tragically died before the 4th division could reach him. Sitting in an alley, he read the book of his adventures, smiling and crying during certain parts, and finished it late at night. He closed the book and looked down, not knowing what to do. He knew something had to be done, so he applied for the shinigami academy, not wanting to waste his life any longer, and wanted to protect others.
His life at the academy was rather normal, finding out that he really sucked at hand to hand combat. Probably something to do with his average physique, but scored high marks in Kidō and hoho, with normal marks in swordsmanship. He acquired his shikai a few years after leaving the academy, gaining a seat in the 9th division shortly thereafter in the 20th position. He also found out the Gotei 13 was rather organized and had an extensive history in the library, something he took his time to read whenever he could.
It wasn't until a few hundred years later when he encountered his first big hurdle, proving himself for the Taichō position of the 9th division. He knew it required Banaki, but even being a fukutaicho, he hasn't been able to achieve it yet, something that infuriated him. He went back into his room to find a Hell Butterfly there, instructing him to follow a few other shinigami, to update the maps of the outer areas of the Rukongai. He donned his zanpakutō and headed out, not realizing how bad this mission was going to turn out for him.
Heading to the human realm, the battle had already begun, shinigami fighting off a myriad of hollows, one of the biggest gatherings Ryo had ever seen in his tenure as a shinigami. He activated his shikai and went forth, slicing hollow mask, using Kidō to bind them, but it was an uphill battle, with the slope steeping fast. The shinigami just couldn't handle the constant stream of hollows, and the hundreds turned into fewer by each minute. Ryo himself had taken a few hits, and was being surrounded by them, a few other shinigami still fighting. Ryo fell on his knees as he struggled to stay awake, a wound in his chest becoming more of a pain as the battle went on.
Suddenly, he found himself in his spirit world, where Raitei Shourai was sitting on his throne, lightning striking all around him, a visual of Ryo's current injured state. The zanpakutō spirit looked down at Ryo, the shinigami looking up at the same time as he was panting heavily. A sense of dignity coming over Ryo as he struggled to stand, and the spirit conjured his staff of lightning. With a strike to the ground with it the staff transformed, losing its staff like shape for a sword, the spirit throwing it at the ground in front of Ryo, the sword sticking into the ground.
Ryo picked it up and looked, at what appeared to be his shikai. He looked back at the spirit, puzzled, before he stood up, something he never did as long as Ryo knew him. The spirit then conjured a lightning strike onto Ryo, the sword forcing Ryo to extend his hand upwards, the back half entering into the sky and creating lightning that stroke the sword. The spirit sat back down, motioning Ryo to go forward, and the shinigami understood what he meant, opening his eyes and exiting the spirit world, seeing just a few shinigami left fighting next to him.
Ryo stood up, and activated his bankai, the sword recreating what happened in the spirit world as its back half flew into the sky and it darkened, clouds forming and lightning striking down at where ever Ryo hit, the hollows becoming easy to kill as he kept moving, ignoring his wound for as long as possible as the hollows retreated, the shinigami seemingly winning the battle somehow. Ryo's sword fell back to its sealed state as he fell down, blood coming from his wound as he passed out.
Awakening in the 4th division hospital, he recounted to himself what happened as he looked around and saw a few get well wishes from members of his division. After a few weeks he was allowed to resume his duties as the Fukutaichō of the 9th division, but that didn't last long as he got a message from the Captain Commander to appear before him and a few other captains, being recommended for the open 9th divisio Taichō position. Ryo nodded and bowed, showing off his bankai to prove he had achieved it and passed the test, the other captains in attendance signing off on his promotion and he donned his haori, becoming the 9th division taicho, where he remains today in this position.
