Profile Information
[/color]Name: Akiyama Reina
Gender: Female
Age: 382; appears to be mid-twenties
Faction: Shinigami
Rank: Command Division, 3rd Seat
Reiatsu Color: A lovely deep blue
Reiatsu Aura: A unique sort of fear, the way prey must feel when it is being pursued by the predator.
Appearance:
One may describe Reina as beautiful. She has a fair face, adorned with sweeping tattoos of a steel blue. Her eyes are of a most startling blue, nearly turquoise in color. Her hair is dark and kept short, several small braids woven in. She stands at about 5'7", body toned without being overly muscular.
Personality: Reina is a firecracker, to put it lightly. She's bold, outgoing, determined, and confident. A friendly sort with the gift of gab, and maybe a bit of a silver tongue; one might say she could sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves on a hot summer's day. Not that she utilizes this skill much; she'd much rather have people do something because they want to, rather than because she coerced them. At her core, she is a kind and loyal spirit, with a playful streak. A bit naive, she tends to trust easily. Friends she will assist within a moment's notice, and in fact considers it an honor to be relied upon. She's also in possession of a rather persistent curious streak.
With her opinions, she is a bit outspoken, but she does have respect for authority. She has a good sense of right and wrong, and is most always keen on seeing justice be done. That said, she does tend to regard situations on a case-by-case basis, and may lean more towards what is right rather than what is the law. She of course does her best to uphold the law, as is her duty, but she is far more likely to speak up or protest when these two ideas clash. She's a bit quick to anger, a character flaw she isn't pleased with, and as such she'd prefer to avoid argument if at all possible.
History:
Reina's story begins, as most often do, in Rukongai. Twentieth district to be exact. She entered the world on a bright summer's day and into the waiting arms of a pair of excited parents. Her childhood was relatively normal, though there is one thing that always stood out; her father had always regaled her with tales of the Shinigami, stories of their strength and their victories over hollows, the stuff of nightmares. She grew up in awe of shinigami, an awe that would eventually evolve into determination. Why could she not become one of these mythic defenders? Thus began her campaign to become a shinigami.
And truth be told, she didn't do too badly. She managed to pass the test to gain admission into the Academy, and was incredibly pleased to find she actually possessed some measure of spiritual power. It was a start, if a small one, and she wasn't about to be deterred.
Her journey through the academy was an eventful one, to say the least. Curiosity drove her to absorb as much as she could, even push her limits. The young shinigami-in-training turned out to be rather skilled when it came to swordplay; she was quick to attend group spars, and always got a kick out of just watching and cheering for her fellow classmates. Even if cheering wasn't particularly encouraged.
It wasn't without it's bumps, however. Reina found out the hard way that she wasn't too good with Kidō. One could only blow themselves up so many times before they couldn't take it any more. And there was that one time the instructor had actually sent her away from that day's lesson...she hadn't known one little teensy prank would label her a miscreant.
Despite this, she did manage to make it through the Academy intact. And the first thing she did was rush home to tell her parents. They were proud, of course, but the news was taken with just a hint of anxiety. Many of those stories she'd heard as a child had ended with noble deaths, y'know. Not that this dampened her spirits. She'd been chosen to join the Command division, and she couldn't have been more ecstatic. The fact that this particular division tended to draw nobles, which she obviously was not, didn't seem to phase her.
The young shinigami took to her assignments with gusto, and rose through the ranks at a more than reasonable pace. Whether it was her own ability outright or her confidence in it was anyone's guess. She trusted the judgement of her Taichō and fukutaicho, so that was enough for her. It was a pleasant surprise and quite an honor when she found herself third seat. Frustratingly, she has yet commune with her zanpakutō. Not for lack of trying, certainly.
