Profile Information
Name: Shigeo
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Faction: Human
Rank: Con Artist
Reiatsu Color: Navy blue
Reiatsu Aura: A warm, almost relaxing feeling, as though seeing a good friend.
Appearance:
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 155 lbs.
Note: given to wearing a multitude of disguises and identities to prevent recognition from disgruntled "clients."
Personality: A jovial, friendly sort of man in most circumstances, Shigeo is generally seen as all smiles and salutations, treating one as his best friend even as he cleans out their wallet. Possessed of a taste for the theatrical when working, he can easily draw a sizeable crowd (provided there are enough people around, of course), attracting many who feel Lady Luck's embrace to his gaudily designed area... only to send them away with empty spirits and emptier coinpurses, calling glib taunts after them and cajoling others to succeed where they have failed. Not that many would, of course, given Shigeo's skill with illusions and general trickery, but they try nonetheless.
When not leeching off the stupidity of the working class, Shigeo drops his cheerful facade, becoming curt and business-like in speech and action and treating most people he encounters with suspicion. However, there is an exception in his behavior when it comes to women; a healthy sexual appetite has resulted in him chasing after scores of the fairer sex and bedding somewhat less, sometimes resorting to illusory tricks to improve himself in their eyes. Despite using such trickery from time to time, he still can be quite charming without his unique skills, skillfully plying weak-willed individuals to get what he wishes from them.
History: Born to a whore and an unknown father in the poorer parts of Kyoto, growing up was understandably tough for Shigeo. Money and subsequently food were in short supply; few people wanted to bed an ugly whore, let alone one with a brat underfoot. For much of his childhood, Shigeo was resented by his mother for his existence and often ignored, leaving the boy to his own devices. Thankfully, he had a fairly active imagination and could find entertainment in a variety of things: those weren't broken brooms, they were swords of shining steel; not a grimy, discarded rag but a flowing cape; not a pile of ruined crates but a fortress. And for the lonely child, after a time, they became just that.
At the age of ten, a turning point came for Shigeo and his mother; as he returned home one night, still with one foot firmly placed in the happier realm of his imagination, he brandished a "sword" at his mother, letting out what was probably an adorable battle cry as he did so. The woman was unamused, however, as she saw two feet of pointed steel aimed at her by her own son. After a short time (which involved much beating and shouting), she learned that it was not but a branch from a tree; somehow, her son had ensorcelled the stick to have the appearance of a weapon.
It was a shock for the homely whore to learn her son had such an ability, but not terribly so; rumours about people with strange powers were common in Kyoto. Living on the verge of poverty had made a shrewd woman of Shigeo's mother; if a branch could be given the appearance of a weapon...why not an ugly woman the appearance of an attractive one?
Urged on by his mother, Shigeo reluctantly began to practice projecting his illusions onto other things, including her. Word spread after a time of the whore's "beauty," and customers began to flock back to her once more, giving the pair of peasants a great deal of coin. Greedy and ungrateful whore that she was, Shigeo's mother shared little of the income with her son, sparing only meager amounts to allow him to eat. After some time of enduring such unappreciative treatment, Shigeo eventually grew fed up with the situation and fled under cover of night, taking a good portion of his mother's money with him.
Over the next decade, Shigeo would hone his illusory skills, as well as becoming a fairly proficient prestidigitator; a necessity, considering his chosen occupation as a conman, tricking and lying his way towards wealth (with a few near-arrests along the way). His greatest success to date, in his eyes, was winning his beautifully-made staff from a idiotically determined man of great wealth, whom bet the object while attempting to win back all else he had lost in a game of chance.
Now he travels from city to city, changing his appearance every now and again to keep from being recognized by guards and/or formerly swindled citizens with long memories, looking for the next sucker.[/size]
