Tranquility; A feeling of complete serenity
Appearance:
Height - 5'11
Weight - 146
Personality:
Born and raised in poverty he has experienced much of life's cruelty from a young age. He has seen how human nature often repeats itself, despite the many repercussions their actions can bring about. While his parents were still alive he was taught proper etiquette befitting that of actual nobility, making him very capable of putting a facade of of ignorance or any other emotion he requires in order to string together a lie. Due to his complicated upbringing it is very difficult for him to place any actual trust into any one single individual, much less any type of actual affection.
He can be described as a rather....peculiar person. Possessing the ability to remain calm and collected even in the most dire of circumstances. Though his persona in battle is rather different. While his preference is to toy with his opponents rather than go for a straight in kill, that is not to say he can't become serious. Possessing a hidden sadistic side, he might make a random attempt at breaking someone mentally, friend or foe alike. When around people his personality is usually collected.
He is gifted in the vernacular, and can convey meanings with just the simplest of words. As evidenced by his name, and heritage, he is affluent in both English and German, as well as knowing some Latin. Oddly enough, Aureolus houses a deep rooted hatred for his kin, even going as far as to dress in the color of the Shinigami. Black. He also has a habit of talking to his Quincy cross, as if it were an actual person. Though he is fully capable of fighting like that of a Quincy he prefers not to use those powers in battle.
History:
Unlike many other of brethren, Aureolus was born, as well as raised on the continent of Europe. Within the Quincy homeland of Germany, along with his parents. His father German, his mother English, they clung to what little material possessions they had, living a life isolated from the Richter clan. As such, you could believe that he led a poor life, but that wasn't the case. He was quite happy, even at the age of 5, when his understanding of the world was still white. While his parents failed to deliver to him the leisure that most people enjoy, while they sometimes failed to feed him, he was still happy. Happy just to have his parents.
Around the age of 7, he was taught the ways of the Quincy, in secret that is. In a ratio of the human population, the Quincy were vastly outnumbered by ordinary people; ordinary people who would easily damn them as heretics who worshiped the devil. Aureolus knew this of course, but he was still a child, a child unable to understand the cruelty known as reality. So his continued his lessons in secret, from the only Quincy that were around that area, his parents.
One day, while playing in the streets with the other kids, the well kept secret of his parents would be blown wide open. The fault wasn't his, but his parents. Be suspicions of a citizen, or a passerby, or the act of some kind of divine force, their Quincy abilities were exposed. It wouldn't be hard to label them as unholy, even if ordinary people couldn't see what they did, it was still foreign, bizarre, and scary to them. And that was all that was needed.
If they stayed, they would be persecuted, hunted, possibly even executed. Leaving was their only choice, and was astonishingly easy for Aureolus, but not his mother. The thought of leaving had led them to live this poor life, you could imagine what the act of leaving would have done to her mind. And now they were in an even worse predicament, one that could lead to starvation, and eventually death of them all.
But fate was kind, exhaustion had taken a toll on them, controlling their reiatsu was no longer an option for them. It would only be a matter of time before the sweet scent of food attracted a Hollow. His parents fought the beast, but found themselves burdened by the lack of energy. The best thing they could do for Aureolus now was act as shields, allowing him to escape the Hollow, and death; even if if that was just a minute longer.
The presence of a Hollow would have attracted attention, be it Quincy from around the area, or even that of the Shinigami. But none of that mattered, the Hollow didn't appear to give chase, leaving the boy of just 9 years all alone, with the ever constant threat of starvation just around the corner.
And be it through sheer luck, he would find a town resting by the sea. Much grander in scale than the poor village he hailed from, and full of people that had money. And through a series of pick-pocketing efforts, Aureolus would survive, but just barely at that. His abilities developed, but his control of said abilities did not. Without a teacher to teach him, it was only possible to work on the very basics.
And one day, while he searched for his next pick-pocket victim, he would find a rich looking man dressed in clean white clothes. Common sense would say this was a Quincy, but Aureolus's contact with them was limited. His own parent's clothes were white as well, but they were far too filthy to be recognized as Quincy.
As the child, now 10 years in age, moved in the for the strike. He would be shocked to see his effort not only fail, but fail miserably. Stealing was greeted only by harsh punishment... He was screwed.
But instead of the reprehension that he expected, all he heard was a single statement.
"So, you were a Quincy"
What happened after that isn't very important. The man who discovered Aureolus was a Quincy. A resident of Japan, the land where the majority of the Quincy now reside. He took on Aureolus on as his apprentice after finding out his parents were dead, and that he was living on the streets as a pick-pocket.
With Europe now behind him, he now resided in the Quincy settlement, where everything was supposed to be "better". But the "better" never happened. His smile had long since disappeared, and he didn't get along with the other kids. He was ostracized even more than ever before, and this was how it would continue.
Friends were something he never had here, nor did he show the talent to be an amazingly gifted Quincy to make up for it. And so, on his 16th birthday, Aureolus had hatched up a plan to escape from the confines of this hellish bore. It was simple enough, he joined the research division to vastly increase his knowledge. After feeling he had learned enough, he simply pretended to go on a research trip for field gathering and analyzing, and escaped.
