Appearance:
He stands at a height of 5'11", with an athletic build. His skin is oddly pale for the amount of time he spends outside. His hair which is tied back into a thick braid, hangs a foot and a half shy of the end of his tailbone and his bangs arc his face. It's a ghostly shade of white yet his eyebrows are black. His eyes are hazel in colour and seem like an bottomless ocean.
His uniform has a few tweaks, his Shihakushō is sleeveless and his haori appears to be a mid sleeved cloak with his Division symbol upon his back in royal purple. Instead of the standard white sash he wears a tan leather belt with six small pouches upon it. These pouches carry small items in which he uses to carry out his various hobbies. Around his neck he wears simple black beads which lay atop the claw shaped scar on his chest. The blades of his zanpakuto lay above his left hip. Recently Malik suffered severe burns, which lead to scarring upon hands up to his elbows. He has taken to covering these scars up by wearing black silk gloves. These not only cover up those ungodly scars, but also offer comforting padding for the arm guards he has taken to wearing as well.
His voice is deep and can be rather relaxing, unless he raises it for then it booms.
Personality:

The first thing you must know about Malik is that he sees all of his comrades, current and past, along with their offspring as family. Because of this he cares for everyone who fits into this field greatly, however just like in a real family there are bad apples in the bunch whom push one's buttons. As such, he can be quite warm, friendly and quite possibly the best guy you'll ever meet. But of course everyone is bound to blow up now and then, and he certainly has a temper.
For his actual family, he's much the same as he is with his comrades, only far more protective and affectionate. He's not about to go about hugging his fellow Council Members after a long day on the job, but with his offspring, most certainly. Though again, sometimes kids are the fuse that lit the bomb.
For Hollow in any shape or form, he pities. Yes he should hate them, they've done terrible things in the past and most likely will in the future. But one does not hate the rain for overflowing a river, and as such he pities the poor creatures whom have gone through the hideous and painful transformations they have. As such, he strikes them down when he can to put an end to what he deems as their suffering.

When it comes to matters of business he tends to take his emotions out of it, tough times call upon people to make tough choices and one cannot do that while clouded by emotion. Or at least that's how Malik sees it. His speech pattern always takes a slight twist, normally speaking in short direct sentences unless the situation calls for otherwise.
While he does not often go into the field, when in combat Malik is cool and collective and does not go overboard unless he sees no other option. He will generally test the waters with an opponent, see what they are capable of and then take advantage of an opening when he sees it. If outmatched, he will stall until help can arrive.

He is very fond of the arts, and can be often seen working on a either a painting or a piece of music in his office when he has the time for it. Additionally he fancies himself a amateur botanist, carpenter and chef. He takes pride in what he's done, even when he shouldn't, which is the majority of the time when it comes to his cooking and even more so when he tries his hand at sculpting. He is also a lover of tea and keeps a small garden of his own tea leaves to keep his pride and joy going. Though from time to time when he's over his head he calls upon the help of those whom know how to fix his blunder.
He is not a big fan of alcoholic beverages, however from time to time he will have a stiff drink when the occasion, or his mood, calls for it. He has a strong dislike fish, he simply can't take the smell of it, as it causes him to nearly gag and make several faces showing his dislike whenever he catches a whiff.
While not necessary in his field of work, another hobby Malik has picked up over the years is investigating. He can often be seen using his keen eye and mind to solve puzzles and other mysteries that he stumbles across or that is brought his way. This can and may lead him into getting a few stern looks/words from his fellow Captains if he shows up to assist in solving a crime, or to question a criminal being held. At which point, he takes the back seat and offers what he sees as sound advice, though from time to time this falls upon deaf ears and hard looks.
Other than that, he does have one bad habit which a few, find quite bothersome and disgusting. That being his smoking of a pipe.
History:
994 ow * Born within a stone throw of the Wastelands.
990 - 950 ow * Watched his parents struggle with their illnesses and Hollows until their deaths. Headed as far way from 'home' as he could carry himself.
949 ow * Along with a few others, starts to make plans for a Society where all the children of the People may live safely and in peace.
932 ow * The few turned to hundreds, construction begins.
932 ow - 1 nw * Defends those working beside him, using whatever was at hand. Earns the scars across his body ten times over. It is during this time that he meets and befriends Kurisuna.
1 nw * The city is completed, the children of the People dub it Seireitei and they name themselves, Shinigami. Given his defense of the construction and his involvement from the start, he is made Taicho of the Gotei, albeit with hesitation on his part.
1 nw* Knowing he can't do all the work himself, gets his long time friend and ally Kurisuna to be his right hand man/woman. Gives her the rank of Fukutaicho.
1 - 499 nw * Malik and Shinigami both live in peace with one another, though rumors of trouble begins to reach his ears. Achieves both his zanpakuto and Shikai.
500 - 506 nw * Many 'kin' decide to leave the city to live on their own terms. They call themselves Rukon Citizens and cut ties with the Gotei. Hits Malik hard.
506 - 975 nw * Sees that the Shinigami could be much more for both themselves and their brothers and sisters beyond the wall, if they unified under several banners. Begins to work toward that goal. During this time meets and befriend, Ume.
975 - 1000 nw * Through the 25 year span works hard and proves his worth time and time again. With Kurisuna, Ume and a few others forms a Council of Five. They give themselves the role of Taicho and form the Gotei 5. Malik is given the title of Soutaicho, Kurisuna named Sanbantai Taicho and Ume, Gobantai Taicho.
1000 - 1005 nw * Goes into the Rukongai and negotiates with the Rukon Citizens and settles terms for both trade and protection. Though still not satisfied with the results.
1006 nw* Meets Chiyoko.
1007 - 1090 nw * While working diligently as Soutaicho, courts Chiyoko and eventually marries her. During this time she turns him into a lover of both music and painting.
1100- 1105 nw * First Daughter, Chie is born named for her mother. Worries a great deal over her health.
1110 - 1200 nw * Is often found taking Chie along with him to his office where he teaches her to read, write and eventually paint. Is embarrassed she picks it up faster than he did.
1350 nw * Chie joins the Gotei in the spring, as a Third Division member, much to Chiyoko's displeasure. Malik, while worrying about her health is quite proud.
1400-1405 nw * Chie moves into her own home, while her mother is far more against it than Malik, he didn't like it at first, but eventually came around. When he got a chance to, dusts off his building skills and constructs Chie a library for her books.
1800 nw * Second daughter, Mai was born, named for her father. Chiyoko taken ill shortly after.
1800 nw* Welcomes Kiba to the Council of Five, as the Fourth Division Taicho.
1806 nw * After six long years of fighting, Chiyoko finally passes. Malik grief stricken dives headlong into his work and tries to bury the pain.
1806 - 1945 nw * Spends as much time with his girls as possible when not working, but wounds are opened and some scars do not heal.
1945 nw * Encourages Mai to find something more productive to work out some issues. She declined.
1950 nw * After threatening to run away and never come back, took Mai out into the Rukongai's outer districts to show her where she could run to to be "safe".
1951 nw * Mai joins the Gotei, as a member of the Second Division, much to his relief. Becomes less defiant, much to his mutual surprise and delight.
1960 nw* Welcomes Harupia to the Council of Five, as the Second Division Taicho.
1960 - present * Continues the good fight, serving as Soutaicho, trying to better relations with the Rukongai and keeping the Hollows at bay along with the rest of the Council.

Born on the edge of what used to be civilization, carried himself to the center of what is now the peak of civilization. Helped organize and build the grand city the Shinigami call home. He's made and lost many friends, many comrades and had a wife and two children. From his current seat Malik oversees the cities continuing progress. He has done and seen things he is both proud of and haunted by, but still he pushes on to help protect the Society he's helped build along with those whom decided to leave it, all the while keeping the Hollow a constant threat at bay.[/smear:ffffff]

Sakebi-Ken is a female with large black wings jutting from her shoulder blades. She is roughly 5'5", long cascading auburn hair, she has a thin build and has a Caucasian complexion. She wears a simple, yet elegant black gown.
Sakebi-Ken name gives away her personality, she's loud and more often than not obnoxious. Stern and ruthless, she deems weakness an absolute failure.
Inner World:
A seemingly endless valley of mountains with a twisting stone path throughout it. The terrain appears dry and dead.
Sealed:
A twin sword Zanpakuto, the Katana is 37" long with a blade of 27 1/2" in length. The Wakizashi is 28" long with a blade length of 18". They're both done in the Shirasaya style and as such, lack a guard. Both hilt and scabbards are jet black in colour.
Shikai: [smear:660000]Chinmoku, Sakebi-Ken.[/smear:ffffff]
The Katana itself turns black, aside from the edge which remains silver. The Wakizashi transforms into a sickle the blade twisting yet remaining the same length as it's sealed form. Like the Katana the blade of the sickle also turns black, except for the inner edge.

From the katana he can release high density blasts which generally take the form of an arcing wave. When charged with energy the black edge of the blade begins to glow white.
The blade needs to be at least half charged before it can fire off a blast. If half charged can only fire once per post, if fully twice.
From the sickle he cannot release anything, however if this blade slices into reiastu based abilities it leeches them, sucking them into it's core. The black edge of the black will turn completely white and will need to be siphoned into the katana before it can store energy again. This is done by sliding the sickles bladed edge against the blackened side of the katana.
Absorption Rate/Max
He can absorb 50% of a reiatsu based attack if the attack is by a person with equal or lesser reiatsu, but only 25% of an attack by someone with more reiatsu. Additionally he can only leech an attack if the sickle isn't already glowing white, otherwise he can leech once a post. It takes another additional post for him to transfer the energy to the katana.
