5.8, he might not be the most intimidating Shinigami, but he is no pushover, the athletic build of a soldier who tries his best to keep in shape clearly poking through. Not all muscle, but those which are there count. His long brown hair tied in a nice braid, going all the way down to his hips. When looking into his huge, bright green eyes, one can’t help but to feel a bit warmer inside, his hopeful optimistic gaze glancing around the world. And his pleasant, almost always smiling face helps that as well.

Being relatively younger, and member of the Medical Division, he has yet to garner himself any meaningful scars. He takes much care of his body, wanting to look neat and clean, though not overly worried about being dirty (unless the dirt is getting into wounds). Also, as a younger captain he has yet to make any big modification to his uniform, a standard Shihakushō with the Haori draped over his shoulders. He is still too excited to think of any changes to it yet.


Personality:

People and work
If you met him outside of his work environment, you could pretty much call him a bit of a man child without much protest. Always smiling, cheerful, out there to meet other people, listen, talk, and play games, anything really. A true people person, wanting to be friends with everyone, willing to give a hand when needed. Also slightly naive, being the first to believe in the goodness of people. Literally mister nice guy. And real gentleman, or at least someone who tries his best to be one, enjoying their company and looks quite a bit. He tries to be as charming as possible, though he refrains from being to forward …of course, being a younger male, he has his slip ups.

Being a member of the Gotei does impose a set of rules of conduct. Though he still is one of the more lighthearted captains. Always looking for a solution that fits everyone, trying to be the voice of calm and reason. Given his age, and relative naivety, this doesn’t always work well. While he learned of how cruel the wasteland could be, he deeply believes in what the Gotei, and his home of Seireitei' stand for, and dreams of a day the city would joining the Rukongai in an age of prosperity. Which off course leads to slight ridicule on both sides. While not having anything against Rukon folk, he sees their decision to splinter from the Shinigami as outright stupid. Back at home, it means that he is rather strict with upholding any rules which are placed among the Gotei and Seireitei', and also a very huge admiration for the people who took part in forming the city, especially the first generation Taichos like Malik and Kurisuna.

His work ethic also ties in with his natural need to help people. He takes his job as a healer seriously, and expects anyone in his division to the same. He is a strict leader, but not in the “work you worthless sack of meat” but more like “Come on people, we can do better, move”. He will appreciate hard work, and help if someone falls behind. But if someone makes light of his work, he will become irritated.

While generally a patient men, when he loses his temper, he tends to talk before he thinks, and say things that are not exactly polite. The main issues that annoy him being people who question the decision of the Gotei or anything related to the workings of Seireitei, and people who don’t let him do his job as a healer. In general more on the pacifist side, he sees exterminating Hollow as a sad duty, and fights between humanoids as a final resort. If it’s a spar for training, or he’s backed into a corner, he won’t hesitate to fight. It will always be a last resort for him though.


Hobbies and Likes
In his free time, as mentioned before, he is quite a pleasant person. A people person as well, doing his best to spend his time around people, meeting, and talking, helping if needed. When still an upcoming Shinigami, he was often the one to organize any time out for himself and his colleagues whenever they had the chance. While he realizes his higher status will cut away his free time, he still looks forward to organizing any sort of parties he can … maybe even a bit bigger then ever before with his new influences.

As a proper party person, he has quite a taste for any sort of beverages, including the stronger ones. While having a surprisingly strong head, he also can grow slightly more affectionate and friendly in his intoxicated state, as well as a bit more daring then he probably should. Though again, he takes his work seriously, and is never intoxicated at work … at least not to a point it would impair any of his abilities. Besides drinking, he also enjoys a good meal. All kinds of meats and greens, though he prefers his vegetables and fruit not cooked. Also, he does not enjoy really mushy foods much, especially tomatoes (though he likes products made of tomatoes strangely enough).

On a more creative note, he is not particularly skilled in such arts as painting and the like, though he is working on it. What he is good with though is his music. An expert flute player, as well as a very good singer, he enjoys displaying his talents when he has the chance, as well as learning new instruments to use and new songs to sing. He also is someone who in general likes to broaden his knowledge, being a big fan of books, of any kind really. Also a big fan of any small, fluffy animals, but especially cats.

As for things he doesn’t like, there isn’t much else besides what was mentioned above in people who strongly oppose his point of view. In general he doesn’t like people who are unpleasant or just don’t seem to want to get along, though he does not see shyness as a bad thing, just something one needs help breaking free of. He is also slightly reluctant to try foods he doesn’t know, or which look unappealing in any sort of way. Also, he is not a big fan of prolonged physical activity (that’s more due to his not great stamina; he enjoys the concept of sports, but dislikes getting tired, and too much bad blood in competitiveness). What he really doesn’t enjoy is being isolated in any way, feeling left out, alone. Besides that, not much else.


History:
1326: n.w: Born to Hitoshi Kenta, Captain of the 2nd division and Akiyama Misa.
1332: Grows as a healthy, energetic child. Bit of a trouble maker, but mostly of his curious nature than anything else.
1381: Grows to be a young boy, mom helps him uncover his talent for singing and instrument play.
1437: Starts to learn more about the Gotei history, admiration for the organization and its Captains, though mostly the other ones than his father.
1470: Father begins some basic training. Relations with father fine, but Haru shows more interest in the history of the Gotei than actual practice. Showed little aptitude in combat activates, but had an unusually high amount of Spiritual Energy. Was disinterested in medical teachings.
1582: Joins the Gotei, the council deciding that his lack or martial prowess and significant Reiatsu potential make him best suited for the 2nd Division. Harupia gets himself known as a good buddy, but not the best worker. Thinks Medical work is not exciting enough. Gets in conflict with his father, wanting more freedom to shape his own career, while Hitoshi insisted he should continue his line of work
1625: Haru hits a slight rebellious streak, spends most of his available free time, and sometimes his working hours on trips to the Rukon frequently, and makes a few acquaintances, including a crush. Earns somewhat of a reputation with his usual friendly behavior, also having a hefty sum to spend in the local taverns of the Rukongai, but never actually states that he is from the city. Enjoys the simpler life in the Rukon (especially the 3rd district), though sees no point in the split between it and the Seireitei. More serious Shinigami look down on him for loitering and not doing his assigned job, but he manages to keep his friendly attitude around and keeps meeting new people
1627: After a heated argument with his father, Harupia in a fit of anger decides to leave his old life behind, and escapes from Soul Society, thus beginning a brief period of living in the Rukon alone. Enjoys new found freedom, but quickly begins to miss his family and the other friends he made
1634: Starts having more and more doubts, memories of his idolized Shinigami still in his head. He and his friends ambushed by Hollow, Kenta is knocked out quickly in the fight, last minute rescue by the Gotei, one friend dies, other wounded to varying degrees. All transported back to Seireitei
1634-36: Harupia takes an active part in assisting his friends in recovering, finds meaning and enjoyment in the line of work of a medic, seeing this as a better way to actually help people instead of defeating Hollow. Reconciles with his father.
1636:Rukongai friends return to their homes after treatment and getting back to health, do not accept Harupia as their friend having learned of his ties with the Gotei. Harupia enters a state of confusion and sadness, which correlates with the punishment council gives him for desertion, first a 6 month detention in prison, then 3 years of community service, working fulltime in the 4th Division, as well as being at the biding of every other Division whenever they wanted
1639: His sentence comes to an end, Harupia focuses solely on his work in the 2nd Division
1647: Harupia comes to terms with the situation with his Rukongai acquaintances, starts to question the logic of their split away even more. Realizing how much work he needs to do to clear his slate, he throws himself into even more work, though still finds enough time to hold up and make new acquaintances.
1850: After years of dedicated work, becomes the Fukutaicho of the 2nd Division, making sure he worked long enough so no one suspected he was riding his father coattails, and to wash of the bad name he made for himself in earlier years.
1951: Continues to serve as the Fukutaicho, finds the right balance between hard work and enjoying his own life (in his mind at least), meets Tanaka Mai.
1960: During a heated battle in the Wasteland, his father is struck down by an Adjucha, which Harupia manages to dispose of seconds later. Hitoshi Kenta survives, but his wounds force him to resign from active duty. After that Harupia is nominated as the new Captain of the 2nd Division.
1961-Present: Bears the Haori of a Captain proudly, making sure the people of the Seireitei are healed and ready for the hardships of days to come.

His childhood was as good as it could be when you were the son of one of the founding fathers of your city. He lived a pretty easy life, always a bundle of energy, sometimes a handful for his parents, but loving and loved in return. At first his mother took care of him, since the work of the 2nd Division Captain took up a lot of time. His days were spent learning various arts, in which he found to be best in singing and playing instruments, and playing with other children and making his first of many friends. Also learning the history of the Gotei, which crated his fascination with the organization and his home, as well as the Captains. "
Later on his father begins to train him, but he showed much more interest in other divisions. Sadly for him, he is not the best physical combatant, but has an unusually high Spiritual Aptitude.


Drafted into the 2nd Division by Council Decision, focuses more on being friendly then hardworking. Has a time of rebelling and fascination with the Rukon, which infuriates his father, leading toward a argument after which Harupia ran away from Soul Society. In his life in the Rukon, he enjoys the typical pleasures of the 3rd district, but still remembers the tales of the Shinigami, the defenders of the land, and starts regretting his leave, though still doesn’t see the appeal of his fathers Division. Until the Hollow attack, and he is unable to defend his friends. But he is able to help them heal, due to his spiritual energy, and the guidance and lessons of his father. As his friends healed, they left him, shunning him for his heritage. Now reconciled with his father, but he was still guilt stricken because of his decisions, and depressed by the fact the people he saw as friends abandoned him. He had a lot of time to think, as he spent 6 months imprisoned in solitary confinement, as part of the punishment for his actions. The isolation had made him appreciate the company of people even more, and the fact he could only sit and do nothing made his urge to help others even bigger. The time in isolation was though, but he endured The next part of his sentence, 3 years of community work, being at the bidding of every Divison, was something he coped with a lot more. He had almost no time to himself, only the bear minimum to sleep and eat, the other members of the Gotei making him work to the bone. But he liked the work. He liked being reliable, being needed. And he got a taste of the work in other Division’s, where he could see he was not that good of a fighter to really fit in them. And thus, after three years, he gladly focused on working in the 4th division solely, working even harder to regain his good name

And so life went on, him doing his best to heal the soldiers of the Gotei, while enjoying life as best he could, honing his musical skills, acquainting himself with even more people. He became a respected and liked member of Seireitei, his earlier act now more of a joke then a serious offense, at least to most. But his final step was yet to come, in rather dire circumstances. A group of Shinigami was stranded on the outskirts of the wasteland, along with a huge group of Rukon and Soul Society citizens, which were seemingly kidnapped and stored away by some Hollow forces. The issue was big enough that his father and he went along with his relief team. Once there, the situation got rather intense, a huge group of Hollow coming against them. They managed to fend them of well, the 2nd division doing his best to heal the Shinigami and assist them. Still, Harupia’s father got heavily injured in a battle with an Adjucha, though the critter itself was injured to the point in which Harupia himself could finish him off. While they sustained heavy losses, the managed to defeat the Hollow. Kenta Hitoshi survived as well, though with his left forearm and right leg severed from his body. With such injuries, he could not continue his work as Taicho. And thus in the normal chain of command, and with the approval of the Council, he was named the Taicho of the 2nd division, and thus the youngest Taicho to date. And he was ready to prove he was worth the mantle.

Free Skill: People Person: Being a medic, and in general liking the company of others, Harupia obviously spends a lot of time with people. And thus, he became quite good in understand them, or “reading” as one might call it. Whether it’s something physical, like someone limping, or suddenly gaining a kind of nervous tick, or something more personality wise, someone acting out of character, he is usually the first one to know. While not fool proof, it is considerably tougher to deceive him by acting in some sort of way, and he is usually very quick you notice some kind of injury in a person, whether the person is trying to hide it or not.

Zanpakutō

Zanpakutō Name: Awai Ki-pa

Spirit:



The epitome of an old, wise sage, Awai Ki-pa has the form of an elderly man in white and blue robes, matching the color of the Zanpakuto, usually mounted on a fine white steed.

Awai Ki-pa is what an amplification of Harupia’s drive to improve himself and help other’s, being there to always drive him to learn more, improve himself, press on to be the best he can. Still, he is not all that serious, and enjoys the company of people just as much as Harupia often commenting on the events around him with a light-hearted sense of humor. He is also quite the admirer of women, even if they will never be able to learn of his existence. But when the situation is dire, all jokes are set aside, a serious, determined spirit to overcome any obstacles.

Inner World:



A mysterious ruin in the middle of a small valley. Within the building there are several doors, leading either to various vast chambers, or door’s, allowing the insides of the ruin expand almost indefinably. The weather around the world is based on Harupia’s current mood.

Sealed:



A traditional Katana, its hilt and guard having a combined 12 inches of length, its blade reaching up to 2 feet in its length. Its coloring is a bit more unusual, its hilt and scabbard colored blue and covered in white, ornament patterns, a wing like shape protruding from the middle of the scabbard.
