Past - 1969 n.w. Traversing the grassy land with a forest landscape and overall traits of a true wilderness was the proverbial hunter: a woman clad in her version of the Shinigami uniform, sans the haori that would limit her ability to stay stealthily within the shadows of the night. However, being that it was a summer night, the occasional but widespread glows of the many fireflies lit the second district, in addition to the celestial light from the silvery moon above; which the canopy overhead allowed little holes and crevices to create spotlights against the cushiony ground. Despite the bugs chirping, the other animals following their respective role, the area almost looked untouched, unsoiled by humanity; with, of course, the exception of the scattered houses that belonged to the workers of this 'magical' scenery. Even the heat wasn't so bad; a calm, cool breeze often rolling through the area.
Although a divinely appealing place, there was a slight issue; an issue that usually littered the place. More often than not, hollow trekked into this plentiful area to grab meals of people, animals, and other hollow alike; which made it a crucial must to protect this district, so that 'humanity' could flourish and thrive with these resources. That is why the Captain of the fifth division, the section in charge of protecting the Rukongai, had made her way into the scene. While it certainly was strange for her, of all people, to answer the call, she rather devote her time to the people than be shit-deep into paperwork; something that she had loaded upon her fukutaichou.
For now, she lightly scampered through the forest, looking for any signs and clues of a hollow nearby; her eyes and ears trying to pick up any unusual behavior, as she was alert to defend, if need be.
If she only found the creature, that is...

The hollow looked down at her reflection in the water, her stomach growling fiercely. Her tail flicked back and forth behind her in slight irritation. So far, she had been unsuccessful at trying to catch the silvery fish that lazily swam in the creeks depths.
"Aww, this is a lot harder than Kurai imagined. Here fishy fishy. Come live in Kurai's tummy." She raised one of her clawed paws ready to strike at a fish that made its way to her, striking as water splashed into the air. When she opened her eyes she frowned, seeing that she only managed to get herself wet. Smoke started to trail from her nostrils, her temper getting the best of her.
"Why you fishy!" Kurai jumped up from her seated position, diving into the water after the fish, snapping her jaws in an attempt to catch it. Unable to still get the fish, Kurai stood in the water, her tail drooping sadly. The hollow would let out a sigh as she looked around herself, hoping that no one could hear her this deep in the woods.

Almost silently, she panted whilst walking along the forest floor, making the cloth and fabric concealing the lower half of her face rather hot with the flow of air. In this sense, it kind of irritated her face and lungs, respectively; but she still pressed onward! Ume had this eerie, gut feeling that there was something sinister lurking in the darkness...
Then, as she aimlessly wandered the forest, the echoes of a restless, child-like being reverberated off the trunks of the trees; giving off the implication that Ume, in fact, was not alone. Since she wasn't a tracker by nature, or at least lacked the ability to sense those nearby, Ume instinctively moved toward a direction she thought would best lead her to the frustrated 'soul'. Well, she didn't quite know if this plan would pull through, but at least she tried, right?!
Good thing no other Shinigami was with her... otherwise they probably wouldn't let this down!
Still, maybe she was getting closer? The sounds of splashing indicated the 'being' was near a body of water, the steady flow of a river, perhaps... so if she looked for some form of water source, maybe she'd come across the hollow! Yes... that was a perfect plan!
Musing to herself, Ume resumed stalking through the forest; pumpkin-hued eyes and attentive ears honed and scanning for any nearby threat. [/color]

The hollow would let out another sigh as she climbed out of the refreshingly cool stream, her tail dragging behind her sadly. She moved her way towards a nearby tree, its leaves dancing softly in the breeze.
"Why did Neene have to leave Kurai." The dragon plopped down next to the tree, wrapping her tail around her body as she wallowed in self pity. "Neene always kept Kurai safe."
Her stomach rumbled again, making the hollow whine sadly."If only Kurai was strong like Neene, then Kurai wouldn't be hungry all the time. Then again, it'd be nice if Kurai wasn't so lonely either..." Kurai suddenly jumped up, letting out a gasp, "Kurai can find another Neene, that way Kurai isn't sad!"

As she unknowingly became closer to the creature lurking by the stream, Ume's heart began to pound louder and louder, like the beating of a drum she utterly adored. Perhaps her short frame released a shot of adrenaline, which spiked her body and mind up for what was to be expected: an inevitable fight between two enemies, clashing in ideals, and ways of life; like the typical good versus evil. It was any routinely day in the name of justice!
As she neared the water, Ume crouched low behind a bush, being careful not to stir it around and create any noise; any attention of her presence. Slowly with both hands, her fingers pried enough of the bush apart to create a peeping hole, where she would peek out and into the landscape, trying to locate the probable creature within the very dim lighting.
Minutes passed, in what seemed like an eternity, and Ume hadn't found the slightest clue to a hollow nearby! She simply wanted to slink off in defeat! Until, of course, she heard the gasping and optimistic voice in the distance, near the shadow of a tree.
The shading made it hard to distinguish what it was, but Ume would retract herself from the bush and slowly creep out toward the water's edge, where the moonlight shone upon the ripples and moving 'reflection'.
Ume was prepared to lunge, if necessary, but any loud sounds would cause the creature to flee rather quickly! Unless the hollow saw her by the water...

The hollow giggled to herself, delighted by her new idea. She then moved back towards the stream of cool water to quench her thirst, oblivious of any other presences. She lapped at the cool water, licking her muzzle as she let out a satisfied sigh. "Yummy, that water is good. Now if only Kurai can catch some yummy fish."
With that Kurai waded back into the water, her tail flicking back and forth as she searched for the silvery scales of her prey to be. She raises a clawed hand, swiping out at one of the fish. Did she get it this time? Kurai opened her crimson eyes, her claws empty save the water dripping from her claws.
"Kurai will get you fishy, even if Kurai has to stay the rest of the day in the place of humans!"

Ume had finally reached the point and distance to converse 'safely' with the hollow; seeing as the creature was almost as oblivious as Ume! Well, she would assert herself with a low cough, right hand clenching into a fist to cover her maw, which was quite frankly already covered with the black fabric. She stood upright with a slight slouch, almost appearing lazy as her left hand rested within her pocket. Maybe she didn't appear to be a threat, but Ume would be driven into action if the hollow became hostile.
"Hello... Having fun fishing?" She asked, her gaze directly pinned at the dragon-esque creature within the water, whom was obviously troubled with finding food; which usually was an excuse for a hollow to roam into the Rukongai district.
Still, if justice could be served without killing, then perhaps it was the morally right thing to do... And Ume was that type of person. Perhaps the hollow would be friendly, and... easy to manipulate in order to clean the Rukongai of hollow threats once again!

The dragon hollow would let out a startled yelp at Ume's voice, clearly not expecting anyone to be out this far in the forest. Kurai turns to face the voice, instantly cowering when she recognized the uniform of a shinigami.
"Please, Shinigami, please don't hurt Kurai. Kurai was just looking for food and just that, no trouble." The young hollow's crimson eyes darted from left to right as she searched for an escape route, hoping to avoid a fight. Kurai started to creep slowly away from the shinigami, her head lowered in hopes that it looked like she was harmless. "In fact, Kurai could just go back from where Kurai is from and find food there. Does that sound good, Shinigami?"

As Kurai flinched and cowered, Ume would jump in unison; motioning her arms and hands gently as if signaling that she wouldn't hurt her. Heck, perhaps Ume became slightly nervous at the hollow's speedy or frantic reaction. It probably looked as if the woman was persuading a gunman to cease and desist peacefully. While her maw was agape, it was hardly noticeable under the fabric, but her eyes, slightly widened in anxiety, conveyed their indiscreet message. Those pumpkin-orange orbs warily observed the creature, as her body lowered into a bent position - akin to someone trying to reason or react in time, in case the scenario turned hostile.
"Relax... I'm not going to hurt anyone or anything, so long as you do the same right now. That might not sound assuring, considering the different paths of life we walk upon, but I will only act if you strike first." She hesitantly crept closer, making sure the distance remained the same between the two. She had to keep the creature here somehow... And her eyes quickly averted to the multiple fish swimming in the body of water.
An idea was struck!
"You're hungry, right? I'm sure one fish wouldn't hurt, yeah? I could catch you one if you'd like...?" She inquired, her cautious gaze rolling back to the creature and her crimson eyes.
"I'm comfortable talking..." She lied, the adrenaline likely to kick in if the scene turned awry. However, there could be a peaceful interaction. She had only hoped her people were safe...

At the mention of getting a free meal, Kurai's nervous demeanor instantly flipped to pure happiness, her body wiggling like an excited puppy. "You'd do that for Kurai?" Kurai hops around, splashing water everywhere.
"Kurai can finally have something to fill her tummy! Thank you shinigami!" The hollow finally calms down and plops herself down on the ground, curling her tail around her body. "What would shinigami like to talk about?"

Success!
The desperately-hungry hollow was willing to stay, so long as Ume provided her with a fish! Her plan had prevailed in trying to keep the creature here, in this woodland area. Sadly, she herself didn't really catch fish in her spare time, but perhaps Ume would find a smart way to handle things? It could be like a game of mouse trap!
Judging by the behavior of the hollow, it was distinct that the creature acted like a pet more than anything else, so was it possible the hollow hadn't committed any serious crimes, despite 'trespassing'? The Shinigami crossed her arms and lazily leaned against a large stone, whilst she watched the crazily-happy antics of the hollow. This couldn't be a facade, could it?
Ume responded after deliberation. "Kurai is your name? Lovely, and yes, I'll help Kurai out. Maybe Kurai should stop splashing the water so the fish doesn't get scared." She mimicked how Kurai spoke in third person about herself, but not in any disrespectful manner. When she calmed, Ume would wait a bit so the water could settle back into its own 'rhythm', kneeling gently by the waterside. "Don't thank me yet! There is no fish in my hand, nor are you eating one right now." She chuckled, smiling to the creature; although she would probably see her eyes close in a rather pleasant gesture.
To get answers, Ume would have to probably word her questions carefully, so that Kurai could understand. "Well, how did you come to find this place, Kurai? Didn't encounter any people on your travels?" She inquired, glancing at the creature as she tested the water's temperature with the back of her left hand.
She was hoping she didn't need to slay this hollow... Who was cooperating very well!

Kurai would hum in thought before tapping her her snout with a clawed digit. "Kurai found this place by following her nose. This place smells a lot nicer than where Kurai lives. No easy food there either." The hollow then lays her head on her fore paws, her tail flicking ever once and a while as she watched the shinigami with red eyes.
"As to shinigami's other question, Kurai did see humans, but... Kurai was scared of them and hid." Her wings would shuffle as is if in embarrassment as she told Ume about seeing humans. "Neene always told Kurai that Kurai was a horrible excuse of a hollow. Maybe Kurai is..."

Ume glanced back at the hollow as she answered, laughing quietly while watching Kurai tap her nose. She didn't quite mind hollows, that much, but the general dislike came from the resistance and hostility that most hollows put up. It was her duty to extinguish hollows, but the gotei or anyone else wouldn't or couldn't find out, right? Not like anyone could see them this deep in the second district woods, yeah?
It was rather impressive that the dragon-esque creature found her way through her sense of smell! Ume figured that she lived in the wastelands like the majority of hollow, but she asked just to make sure. "Found your way with your nose, eh? Nice feat... But I take it that you live in the wasteland?" Ume questioned, removing the lower articles of clothing, such as her shoes, socks; as well as folding her pants-garments up. She didn't want to get her apparel completely wet at the bottom!
Once she folded the removed clothing, Ume began to slowly creep into the stream; bending her knees so that she was relatively low to the water and able to snatch a fish with perfect timing! Her toes wiggled as they adaptive to the new feel and temperature, the water likely cold at first!
"You are afraid of humans...? Why are you a horrible excuse for a hollow, Kurai?" Ume tilted her head a bit, concentration focused on the fish within the stream; although her ears honed in and awaited some sort of answer.
The more questions answered, the better!

Kurai raises her head from her paws, watching Ume's movements, hoping to learn how to catch the fish in the future. She nodded to the shinigami's question about where the hollow lived, "Kurai was born there too."
The hollow's stomach growled, making her frown. She hoped that the shinigami didn't hear it too! "Kurai is terrified of humans. Kurai heard that they are mean." Kurai stood from the ground, her tail flicking back and forth slowly. She shook her head, the fur around her head becoming even more disheveled as she let out a snort.
"Kurai is a horrible hollow because Neene said Kurai runs away at the first sign of trouble and refuses to eat humans. Does it make Kurai a bad hollow?" The dragon hollow looked up towards Ume's face, a sad puppy dog look on her face.

Holding a list of herbs in one hand and a small basket in the other, the young female medical shinigami made her way into the forest. She wore the standard black Shinigami outfit, and her katana hung from her waist by her left side, the bright colored blue butterfly charm swinging lightly from the hilt's guard as Nabi walked. The cool, refreshing breeze lightly ruffled the young woman's black wavy hair as she searched through the forest, looking for various herbs. As her bangs fell into her eyes, Nabi lightly swiped it to the side, pinning her bangs up with her rose pin.
What was this little lady doing in the forest? Well, she had decided to explore the forest to find medicinal herbs to bring back to her division, after noticing that the herbal stock was running a little low. So there she was, wandering through the forest. She lightly murmured softly, reciting the items off her list like a song,
"Chamomile, blessed thistle, elderberry~where are you~~"
As she wandered deeper into the forest, she noticed fireflies fluttering around her and smiled,
"Ooh. Looks so pretty! Like floating little lanterns."
She continued on, collecting various herbs along her way, filling the basket with plants and leaves. As she ventured even further into the forest, her sharp ears picked up the faint sound of a stream trickling and muffled voices nearby. She blinked, and wondered out loud,
"Who could that be, eh?"
She then looked down the list of her items and checked her basket, seeing that she had gathered all the necessary herbs. She then decided to move closer to the source of voices, wondering as to who was there, trying not to make any noises...

To the best of her ability, Ume attempted to slowly drift within the stream toward the fish; careful not to make any sudden movements as she moved each foot to and fro within the constantly-flowing stream. While goose-bumps formed upon her legs as they succumbed to the water's touch, Ume's loose hair fell slightly in her face; to which she gently pushed those strands of purple behind her ear. She bit on her lip anxiously, as if waiting for the right moment to strike against the fish, which grew nearer with each passing minute.
Though she hardly multi-tasked, the result of inexperience would likely show; as having a conversation whilst focusing on another subject would hardly be perfected, right? Maybe in the present-future… maybe. "Not all humans are mean, Kurai. In fact, most are protecting themselves, like some of you hollow do. It's a complex circle of life…" As she retorted, a bead of sweat trickled down her forehead. How annoying!
She couldn't seem to get it, since she was relatively close to the swimming fish! With the likely chance of scaring it away, she couldn't move now! Not while being so close! As her head lowered to face the water's clear reflection, almost parallel, Ume watched as the sweat began to dislodge itself from her forehead, but still linger like a water drop. She gritted her teeth, speaking rather hoarsely as she did so. "No, you're only playing it safe… what defines good and bad is entirely up to you, Kurai. What do you think you are?" Her arms extended outward, within the fish's reach… yet the water divided her flesh from the aquatic creature.
She had to be nimble… accurate… precise.
Her digits twitched and wiggled against the air, until the all too fateful drop of sweat hit the body of water, causing the fish to swim up to the shallow surface, and within reach! Gasping, gulping and lunging, Ume pounced on the fish like it was her last supper; fingers and hands respectively clasping together to attempt to catch the fish. However, given the slippery properties of the fish, it slipped right out of her hands! Even worse, the woman splashed loudly and took an ungraceful dive into the water, tumbling and completely soaking herself!
It was a catastrophe!

Kurai nodded her masked head, her tail flicking happily. It felt good to know that not all thought of the dragon hollow as a failure. The hollow took a deep breath of forest air, liking how it smelled compared to the wasteland of where she was born. Kurai then turned her head back towards the shinigami.
"Kurai thinks she is a misunderstood hollow. Kurai doesn't like how shinigami's attack without questioning. Minus you of course, umm... What's shinigami's name?" Kurai felt embarrassed. She was talking with a complete stranger and didn't know their name... And they knew Kurai's name! Sometimes Kurai's speaking habits were a nuisance.
Kurai could tell that the shinigami was close to getting the fish. Oh, how she would savor the taste of the fish. A real meal since who knows when! Her hopes were then drowned in the splash Ume made as she fell into the water. The hollow yelped in shock at the cool water, quickly shaking it off.

As the young medical shinigami approached closer to the stream, Nabi heard the splashing of water and saw the female Shinigami flail around in the water. She appeared to have failed in her attempt to catch a fish. Nabi blinked, wondering as to what the shinigami was doing, catching fish and speaking so familiarly with a hollow, who was standing by. The sight was quite amusing, and Nabi couldn't help but let out a giggle as she stepped out from behind a tree, observing the Shinigami and the hollow. Wonder why is that hollow here, and not attacking, Nabi thought to herself wonderingly. Hollows usually attacked people and were not so friendly to people either.
"I never thought I'd see a shinigami go fishing like this before. It looks quite fun though," she softly called out as she stepped forward, lightly holding her basket of herbs in her hands in front of her.
Nabi could tell that the shinigami was of a higher-rank, even without the haori. Something about the woman just seemed so wise, much more experienced. Then Nabi realized that the woman was the Captain of the 5th Division, whom she had not been in contact before as she usually worked in the 2nd Division, doing errands. Nabi had heard of the captain and seen glimpses of her before, but did not really talk to her before. She was wondering what this woman was like in person, as she politely bowed her head to the higher-ranking woman. She also turned her head to the Hollow, giving a kind smile.

Renkai had, for reasons unknown even to himself, always enjoyed wandering the forest outside the walls of Seireitei at night. Perhaps it was because the area reminded him so much of his inner world? It set his mind at ease, at least. He could always just come out here to relax, watching the fireflies as they drifted around.
Tonight, however, he felt like taking a stroll, casually making his way toward a nearby stream. His mind seemed to be rather full this evening. As he wandered, he trailed his hands along the bark of trees as he passed them. It wasn't long before he found himself at the edge of the stream. Something grabbed his attention immediately, though. "Hm?" He shifted his focus down stream. Though it was a bit of a distance, he thought he could make out the figure of other people, specifically other shinigami, judging by their uniforms.
"What could they be doing out here...? It's late.." he asked himself, deciding to head their direction. The distance closed quickly, soon revealing a very disturbing sight. A hollow amongst shinigami? What was going on? He placed his hand on the handle of his sword, quickening his pace toward the group.
Within a matter of minutes, he had covered the ground between where he first met the water's edge and his fellow shinigami. The only one he seemed to recognize was the Taichou of Division Five. He ignored the fact that she was half-way submerged in the stream. Seeing her as the authority figure, he decided to address her, not taking his eyes off the hollow, "Tachibana-sama... I apologize if I am out of line for asking, but, what is going on here? This is a hollow, correct?" he raised a finger to point at the hollow resting on the bank as he asked, awaiting a response.

Profuse flailing, along with a fumbling to stay upright, finally yielded Ume some positive results. While she did sustain cuts and bruises from the likely rock-bed below, the woman finally managed to prevent anymore drifting down along the stream as she slowly recovered physically in position and in 'mental composure'. However, the short woman was unfortunately submerged in water at the time Kurai asked her question, leading to an unclear and inaudible inquiry; at least, to the Fifth Division Taichou. She had registered that the creature made a sound, but going in and out of the liquid as she took her tumble had created a barrier of sorts. As she 'bounced' up from the water and resurfaced, Ume exclaimed loudly with a gasp, "I'm fine, I'm fine!" Then, she'd slowly retreat from the body of water, aiming to return to Kurai's side as if to catch a break.
"I'm sorry, did you ask something Kurai?" Ume inquired, wiping the thick, drenched and loose strands of hair that slapped her against the face as she ascended from water to air. She felt rather at ease with the creature than probably some shinigami… which was rather odd, to say at the very least. Up until this slight set-back, things were going relatively smooth… of course until the faint echo of laughter could be heard over the constantly-flowing noise produced by the stream.
Then, a shinigami woman with wavy-raven hair and chocolate-brown eyes approached the Taichou and hollow from the shade of a tree, quite amused by this strange occurrence. "Well, I figured I'd try fishing as a new hobby of mine… but it obviously isn't my thing." She admittedly retorted, glancing back and forth between the female that obviously wasn't in her division, and the creature who would no doubtfully be frightened… come to think of it, would the creature see this as an ambush? Ume certainly hoped she wouldn't, considering there was still more information to be gained… so she scanned their reactions back and forth, as if analyzing any movement that would determine the outcome. She dipped her head in a bow to return Nabi's gesture, making sure to hold the hair back from her face to prevent even more whiplash.
To make matters worse, another fellow had been 'frolicking around', with his sword cautiously near his hand. Muttering something underneath her breath, Ume slightly inched over to Kurai, hands held high and on level with her head, causing the dry earth to be soiled with the dripping water of her clothes. "Yes, this is what it looks like; me, engaging in casual conversation with a hollow. You seem to have discovered my secret lifestyle!" She wailed, obviously lying, but she'd warily observe the male shinigami.
"You are to state your division, and perhaps explain your reasoning for being out so late, at this hour… in the Rukongai." She turned the tables on them, expecting a response to this matter-of-fact order. She even spoke in a rather cold tone, even if it wasn't to be taken that way!

Kurai watched in shock and awe as the shinigami flailed in the water. Was this some secret technique to get fish? Then the shinigami leaped up from her flailing to yell she was fine. What was going on!? Kurai was about to ask a question when she heard a stranger giggle.
The hollow would spin around quickly, her eyes opened wide in fright at the new shinigami. Was her life in danger now, or could she get out of this alive? A thought suddenly occurred to the girl. Did the first shinigami bring back up and lied to the pathetic hollow about not hurting her!?! What was Kurai to do?
Then to make matters worse, another shinigami appeared! This one really fuzzy in the face and keeping a hand on his weapon! The horror! "Shinigami, don't let shinigami's kill Kurai! Kurai did nothing wrong!" Before Kurai could continue blubbering, Ume strategically defended Kurai by firing a well placed question as to why those shini's were there in the first place! Well that killed the hollow's thought of Ume bringing back up.
She continued to watch the other two shinigami's warily, hoping she could get out of this alive and a full tummy.

Nabi blinked as she looked to the side, hearing the male shinigami approach. She noticed that the man had his hand on the hilt of his sword, and instantly, she was worried that an unnecessary intervention would happen. Then she heard Kurai cry out, pleading not to be killed by the Shinigami. She thought to herself, Oh dear...I think we've frightened the poor hollow..I better keep things calm, or something terrible could happen.
The young medical shinigami kept a calm facade the whole time, though, and kept a light smile on her face as she listened to the higher-ranked woman ordering for them to state their divisions and reasons for their being here.
She calmly replied, "Ah, I am Nabi Paran, of the 2nd Division, unseated. I thought I'd scavenge the forest this evening to gather some herbs. Our herbal stock has been running a little bit low, so I decided to visit the forest..And well, it is a cool night- so I thought I'd finish that errand while taking a stroll." As if to support her statement, she lightly raised her basket up in the air, showing the herbs that were in it.
Nabi's bangs lightly fell into her face, and she lightly swiped them out of her eyes, pinning them up again with her rose pin. She then turned to Kurai, giving her a gentle smile, speaking softly.
"I am sorry to have frightened you. I won't harm you. I particularly do not like engaging in fights or killing creatures. I'm a medic, to be exact.."
With that said, Nabi stood there calmly, observing everyone, awaiting for their responses.

Renkai stood at attention as he was addressed. His mind was full of questions, however he knew it wasn't his place to state them. Instead, he complied, responding to the question, "I am Motoyoshi, Renkai. Division Four, third seat. I am simply out here enjoying the evening. I come out here often when not on duty."
The presence of the hollow made him uneasy, though the Taichou seemed to be protecting it. Why? So many questions adding to the many thoughts already on his mind. However, there were three shinigami to the one hollow. He relaxed a bit, re-sheathing his blade and taking his hand from the hilt. His gaze shifted momentarily to the young shinigami whom he was not familiar with, though he did not engage her.
What was most perplexing, he now realized, was that the hollow seemed to be rather frightened. A hollow scared of shinigami? Most hollows he had encountered would jump at the opportunity to devour a shinigami. Perhaps it was all a ruse? He remained attentive, awaiting further action from the Taichou.

Ume now had three beings to strategically analyze! She surveyed the anxiety and fear coming from Kurai, alternatively switching to notice Nabi's calm approach, and Renkai's indiscreet uneasiness, which Ume was likely to be oblivious to. Instead, she crossed her arms against her chest and stood juxtaposition to Kurai, gazing at the two shinigami with a hardened-look. "Well, I'm not going to hurt you, Kurai; just stay, and everything will be all right." She tried to persuade her to remain in the vicinity, so she could draw more information out of the dragon-esque hollow. For the other two, she had a little reprimanding to do. Still, if it were another, less compassionate shinigami, Kurai could have been falling into a sinister act, and it could have gone awry. Luckily, that wasn't the case.
"I'm fully aware and understand the reasoning behind each answer you two have provided, but I also hope you comprehend that the forests can be dangerous, especially at night. Between the Rukongai citizens who might dislike the shinigami, and the frequent hollow break-ins, this place can be bad at times… but, I suppose this night is a pleasant one… after all." She reverted her oculars to Kurai, obviously talking about her in a rather kind manner.
"I don't particularly enjoy ending the life of an innocent creature mainly because of trespassing on grounds claimed, nor the false accusation that they have hurt someone to get here. We all walk on a different path, but there are exceptions of kindness and those who treat other kinds with respect. I believe that this hollow pertains to this rule… so, rather than seeking destruction, I seek knowledge. So, if there's anything you'd like to ask, feel free… in regards to me, or perhaps the hollow, here." She paused to breathe, her mouth still concealed by the now-damp mask. "Otherwise, when this is all said and done, I'll safely escort you both back to the Seireitei." She seemingly ordered, given her stern tone.

The hollow sat back on her haunches, her wings positioned so they made her slim frame look bigger than it actually was. Her crimson eyes watched the new shinigami's with slight suspicion, the smaller female less threatening Kurai thought, but the fuzzy faced one... Now that one was definitely a scary character. Just what was that thing on his face?
The dragon was about to question the strange shinigami when her stomach growled obnoxiously. If her mask hadn't been covering her face and it would have been lighter, the three could have noticed a rosy tinge creeping on her cheeks. Kurai would turn to Ume and tug lightly on her pants leg. "Shinigami, did you by chance get one of those yummy looking fishies for Kurai's tummy? Kurai's tummy is still yelling at her."

She glanced over to the male shinigami, listening to him address himself as the 3rd Seat of the 4th Division. As she was still somewhat new to the Gotei, she still did not know the names of other shinigamis in other divisions, so it was a good chance for her to learn the names of other shinigami.
The young medical shinigami patiently listened to Tachibana-sama's words, hearing the stern tone in her voice. Nabi knew that once they headed back to Seiritei, they'd get lectured. But she would not mind it, as she knew the higher-ups needed to make sure things were in order. After all, it was part of their job.
She lightly smiled, nodding, "Yes, I understand...I do not wish to disturb this hollow any further." She then heard Kurai's stomach growl quite loudly and lightly giggled.
Then Nabi gently murmured to the hollow, "If you're hungry, I have some snacks.." She holds her basket of herbs in her left hand and her other hand reaches into her right pocket, pulling out some wrapped candies. "Well..it's not much, but it's very good! You can take them if you like." She holds it out to Kurai.
Nabi then turns to Tachibana-sama, bowing her head politely, "Well, I suppose I should be getting back to my division to quickly add these herbs to the supply stock."

An escort back? He didn't show it, but the idea of an escort seemed preposterous. He was fully capable of making his own way back. This put him in an awkward position. He couldn't just leave; that would be rude and possibly get him into trouble. However, neither did he want to have to head back whenever the captain decided it necessary. After all, he was out here to clear his mind.
So what should he do? He was also quite conscious of the fact that he did not know the other female shinigami at all. Would it be appropriate to introduce himself? She had mentioned that she was going to head back to her division, and he didn't want to keep her from her duty. Sometimes he wished he could just keep to himself. If he weren't so inquisitive, he wouldn't have even encountered the three, and would still be able to wander the area, contemplating things.
He turned his attention to the medic, figuring it would be polite to introduce himself, at least. "Before you go, I just wanted to say that it was a pleasure making your acquaintance this evening, though we have not spoken. Perhaps we will meet formally some day, and hopefully not because I am in need of medical attention." He politely bowed to her before turning his attention back to Ume, "Does this mean I cannot return to what I was doing previously?"

There was a realization for Ume, that despite having turned the tables on the other Shinigami with her verbal demands and demeanor to smooth over the issue with her fraternizing with a hollow, that Nabi and Renkai were two fully trained Shinigami. They did not need babied nor escorted as such, plus, Ume had a more important obligation of patrolling the rest of the area. A quick motion later, and Ume added a fish to the offering for Kurai from Nabi. The situation here was calm, so Ume politely bowed herself out with work given as a reason and consent for the two other Shinigami to carry on their way as well as telling Kurai to stay out of trouble.
As it's been three days, Ume has been exited per the activity rules, which can be found here. [ link] As such, her points will be halved upon thread completion.

The hollow would look up at Nabi shyly, "Nabi would do that for a hollow like Kurai? Will Nabi also protect Kurai from that scary looking Shinigami too?" Kurai pointed a clawed digit toward Renkai to clarify just who she was talking about.
Kurai had a bad feeling that the man didn't believe how pathetic she really was, she couldn't even catch a dumb old fish!

Nabi bowed her head to Ume as she departed. Then she turned back to Kurai, giggling for a bit before replying with a gentle smile,
"Of course, I do not mind at all! I can tell you are a good hollow, Kurai. And as for that scary-looking shinigami," she glanced over at Renkai, giving him a soft smile before continuing, "Don't worry. I have a feeling that he may not harm you. And, please, take some of the candy and eat it for a bit. I can help you find a fish before heading back to my division."
She gently placed the wrapped candy before Kurai, and then turned to Renkai with a gentle smile.
"It is a pleasure meeting you as well, Motoyoshi-san. Do you think you could also help find a fish for Kurai?"
