I've played VIII, the first hour of VII, X, X-2, XII, and some of XIII. The latter is pretty, but I'm having concentration issues with finishing it. VIII is my second favorite of the group.

I've just had other games on my to play list. And Chrono Trigger was good. Pretty good story, awesome soundtrack and I really like the combat system. Borderlands was pretty good. It's more of a FPS but it has some RPG elements in it.

I wanted to like VIII, but Ultimecia kept getting under my skin for some reason. She was pretty cool in Dissidia, though, but I guess I mostly stood her because she got paired with Kefka a lot.

I played a little bit of Borderlands when Cain got it to play with you, but I don't really like shooting combat. The two biggest exceptions of course being Mass Effect and Fallout.

Never played a lot of FF. Just part of the first one and FF Tactics Advanced 1&2.

My last disc of VIII is scratched, so I never finished it. However, Cain has it on the PS3, so I have no excuse now. xD I keep trying to force myself to play VII all the way, but I really just can't get into it. I think the hype ruined it for me.
Does hype ruin games for anyone else? Or do you pay attention to it at all?

I really would recommend FFVI. I feel as if you'd like the characters a lot. Difficult to play these games without VisualBoyAdvance, though.
I try to ignore hype. Occasionally, though, my friends rope me into buying a popular game, and the experience ends up falling short of enjoyable.

In general I'm not exposed to that much hype. Usually I buy a lot of my games because I knew a lot about them beforehand or because a friend recommended one of them to me.

I have it for Emerald. :B
Hype drives me away from most everything initially. Eventually I'll play or watch the thing, and don't like it. Mass Effect is actually another exception that too. I started playing when Cain got ME3.

When I want a game, I usually just wait for hype to die down so the price lowers considerably. If it's around 30~ and I feel adventurous, I sometimes buy games I've heard of without playing them beforehand.

How are you liking it so far? I remember loving the series as a whole (not counting the ending to ME3)

I actually bought a game that had terrible reviews once (Romancing Saga) and ended up loving it, so aside from hype driving me away from a series, I usually don't pay attention to typical reviews.
I love the ME series. xD It has sexy aliens. Aliens... sounds like asians... I see now. <_< It all comes back to Sounga.

S'an RPG where you can pick like, 8 different character stories to play, that all cross over somehow. I haven't played enough of it yet to give a good story description though, but I like what I've played.

FFVI, I cannot remember which one that is. Perhaps it is on the PSP?
I tend to stick to games I feel I would enjoy over and over again and would be worth my while. Not to mention that seem to have a decent hype, but also good reviews and previews.

For some reason I never get good replay value out of any games that I get. As soon as I beat it I lose nearly all of my interest unless theres multiplayer of some sort.

All this talk of replay is now making me think of the new Super Mario Bros. 2 for the 3DS.

Oh how I wish, but damn if it doesn't look freaking awesome. I've been waiting for the Super Leaf in 3D and I mean the true super-leaf.

My problem isn't replay value. I have a tendency to restart every game I get at least five times before I play it all the way through, if I manage to do it at all. XD I don't even know where the habit comes from. There are actually very few games I've beaten because of it.
That being said, I've replayed FFX a ton of times. I never get bored of it.

I can't stand FFX's sphere grid. I really just can't. It's like stabbing sporks into my eyes.

It's basically how you level up in FFX.
The AK Tier System for the restart almost ended up like it. XD Be glad we had a stroke of genius and tossed it out. It's massive and interlocking.
