[bgcolor=000000][bgcolor=COLOR]Alright, so Sunday night Frox suggested I take a page out of Dect's book and assign members of the AK community a role in the DCU. Now I've given this a little bit of thought and have weighed a few cons and pros of each member/choice. However, before I start posting anything of the sort I would like you, the AK community to pm me with your own thoughts on the subject.

For example, I would like those who'd rather not be summed up in such a way (keep in mind this would be my opinion although I would back it with some reasoning as to the why) to pm me ahead of time and simply say something like.. "Mal, I'd rather you not include me in this." Or something around those lines. Additionally if you'd like to give me a suggestion and a reason for why you think you should be a particular DC character, let me know and know that I'll be considering it.

I'll be adding more posts to this subject in.. Oh let's say roughly 48 hours, giving you all a bit of time to see this particular topic/post and time to shoot me a pm about your feelings either way. For those I don't hear from, I'll assume you won't have feelings either way and I'll include you as I see fit =o

Mr. Chill/Taisho

Nightwing (older costume cuz I like da blue)

Now, my reasoning for this is quite simple. My brother to me is my oldest and to a degree most faithful, real life sidekick. This is also true when it comes to Dick Grayson/Nightwing to Batman. Yes, its true Alfred is technically Bruce's oldest and most trusted ally, but to the eyes of the criminals whom they fight, Nightwing is that guy and as such, is decreed the first.

Regardless of any of that though, my brother is my wing man more than I would like to admit, and although we disagree (a lot) we do tend to put our own squabbles aside and do what we need to do, when it needs to be done. And for that, Taisho is my choice for Nightwing.


Crazy

Alfred Pennyworth

Now, for those on box you will note that I often refer to Crazy as my butler and I won't lie, that did weigh heavily on my choice for Crazy in those role, that and his love of shotguns. However, the most crucial reason for this choice is quite simple. Crazy is attentive. Take that how you will, it's true. He's generally the most active and is by far the most considerate/loyal member on the entire forum, and for that he gets dubbed the role as the most attentive and loyal man in the ENTIRE DC universe as far as I am concerned. Nuff said.


Aki-san

Big Barda

Now, I know what some of you might be thinking. "Really Mal? Why not Poison Ivy? She makes plants, controls them.. Has red hair. Tentacles.." Too simple, and as I recall Aki-san does not like the character much at all, so I decided not to go the obvious route. So, why the former leader of the Furies? Well one, because she is very tall. Not a lot of characters whom are 'human' sized are taller than Superman, until you see Big Barba whom is a good head taller than the man of steel himself. And as we all know, Aki-san is a massive black man.

Additionally, she is a master of hurt and killing. Yes, I worded that the way I intended, no error. Master of hurt and killing. We've all come to know how much Aki-san enjoys bringing pain to those and whom better than Big Barda do that? Well perhaps Granny Goodness, but then I'd be calling Aki-san an old fat woman, whom sounds like a man. And we wouldn't want that! Nay nay. So, instead I bring you the former leader of Darksied's champions! The woman whom had gone toe-to-toe with Wonder Woman herself! Big Barda, da biggest, da baddest ass kicking woman in DC. Let's ignore the fact she fell for Mister Miracle


Ki

Oracle

Yes, Ki does not have red hair, but not us not forget she is Aki-san's other half so it's just an oversight. Why Barbara Gordon, the first Batgirl? Simply put as Oracle, Babs is the brains behind so many operations it isn't even funny. She's constantly in Batman's ear and leads the Birds of Prey, and if memory is serving me correctly, has even had ties in with the JL's operations. She's a master hacker, whom has gathered information which has helped a great many hero in the DCU.

Now, why do I feel this is Ki? Even when Ki is down in the dumps or sick she does her very, very best to keep this forum running smoothly, and trust me even when you're feeling chipper that's not an easy thing to do. Additionally, look at the forum. It's pretty. Lots of coding there, and coding is a nightmare, A NIGHTMARE! Between the coding and the antics we Akers pull it's a wonder Ki hasn't gone as loopy as some of her family. Although she did marry Cain..

So to wrap it up, Ki is Oracle because she's/they're awesome. o.ob

Roy Harper/Arsenal

Now, for those who don't know who Roy Harper is. He's Green Arrow's former sidekick, Speedy. Super skilled with ranged weaponry, specializing in the bow. He lost an arm, got a robotic one, went nutty. Got some guns and started killing people. Now if that isn't Katsu, I don't know what is.

Additionally, Roy has struggled with doing the right thing a lot in recent years and is now working along side Jason Todd, another outcast as a member of the Outlaws. In where he continues to 'try to do the right thing' but with his own unique flare. And by meaning absolutely no offense, I find Katsu to be in the same boat as Roy quite a bit.



Koji

The Creeper

I really don't think I need to go into detail here.


My Niecey!/Court

Beatriz Bonilla da Costa. Or, Fire if you prefer.

Now, this for me was an obvious choice. My Niecey is a firebender through and through, and Fire here turns into a living flame which flies, shoots green flames and looks damn good whilst doing it. No, she's not a real heavy hitter and not terribly well known, which is a shame considering how often she's seen in JL, but for me she is the embodiment of what can do with fire in a comic book.

Just stay out of the swimming pool Niecey!



Carb/Dark

The Question

Now, this may be more because he likes the character. Outside of The Watchmen, I think the Question is the only DC character he does actually like. But my core reason for choosing him is due to Carb actually being quite intelligent, even if he seems like an idiot sometimes. Take that how you will.

Starfire (youth)

Now, I don't know the Nabster as well as I would like to, so I did look for a bit of her insight on this and after gaining a bit of understanding of her core personality, decided that Starfire as a kid, aka Teen Titans, was her to a tee. Why, well according to Nabi she's a wee bit random. bubbly and sweet. If that's not the Starfire from Teen Titans I don't know what is.

Cain

Brainiac

Now, I've known Cain a long time, longer than most on AK I think. And throughout the years I've seen him be this mastermind villain whom quite generally gets his way.. Or has everything blow up in his face because of ass hats. My reasoning for picking Brainiac for Cain, our first villain to date, is due to the fact that unless his characters are outright silly, he is always some kind of bad guy. Even when he's on the side of good, he tends to be a very bad person, whom is a diabolical genius.

Brainiac fits that bill rather nicely I think, brain is even in his name. That and if you talk to Cain long enough on box he does one of two things. Piss you off or makes you feel incredibly stupid. Which, again fits the bill for Brainiac. XD


Shigeo

Solomon Grundy

Now, it's fair to say that Shig and I often do not see eye to eye. Heck I'd be willing to say we just don't get along period, which in all honesty is a shame. But in the years that I have known Shig, I've come to understand a few things about him, two of which are his 'love' of things undead and that he likes to pretend to be very old. The third, his Shinigami characters are always self proclaimed big men. Even if they aren't always that much larger than the average population.

Solomon Grundy is all of these things and as such, is my pick for Shigeo.


Sei

Captain Atom

Yes, I have picked one of the most powerful DC heroes for Sei, why? He does claim to be a walking armory and Captain Atom can replicate any type of radiation which does make him a walking bomb. Additionally, Captain Atom gets blown up a lot. Seriously, half the time you see him in any DCAU he's just his suit, with no substance cuz he just blew himself up someway or another.

And as we all know, Sei 'implodes' a lot.

Huntress

Now Azzy had be stumped for a little while if truth be told. But while watching Braveheart with the gang last night, it suddenly came to me. Azzy is pretty awesome, she has a great sense of humor an is easy to get along with. However she does have a nasty temper, which I have been on the receiving end of more than once I am ashamed to say, and it is when this temper comes out that she channels her inner Huntress.

For those who don't know, Huntress is a member of the Birds of Prey and one of the Batfamily (a former Batgirl). She's very, very good at what she does (while rocking purple) which is pretty much kicking ass and taking names. However, unlike all but perhaps two of the Batfamily, if push comes to shove she'll shoot you between the eyes with that crossbow. Yes girls and boys, the The Huntress kills people if she needs to, which after speaking with a certain someone (Shirai) we came to agreement that Azzy is defiantly Huntress, the anti-hero with an attitude.

Isao

Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow

I had orignally picked Oli for Isao for the simple reason that whenever I think of Isao, I think of the Quincy for some reason, and as you can tell from the picture, GA is pretty bitching when it comes to anything archery related. Puts that copy cat Hawkeye to shame, yo

Additionally after talking to Isao a little bit and having him send me a semi-lengthy pm I discovered that he actually fits Oli's bill a bit more than I thought. I won't exactly go into length as to why, but those who know anything about GA's lengthy back story will know he hasn't always been saint. (take that as you will)


Froxy

Black Canary

Froxy is another one whom stumped me quite a bit. I was going to go with Catwoman for a few obvious reasons, but I decided against it even if she is one of the most animal loving people in DC. No, I went with Black Canary due to the reason that again, she is most defiantly not a chick you want to piss off, much like Froxy. (and not because she is another member of the Birds of Prey)

For those who don't know, Canary is one of the most skilled hand to hand combatants in the DCU, and while she has a very devastating ability, she doesn't need to use it and more often than not doesn't unless she feels it necessary, she is also very well spoken and lets people know her mind. Froxy, pummels me to a pulp quite a bit, and is not shy about expressing her thoughts on a subject. So, that's why I decided to roll with the Canary rather than the Cat for her. o.ob That and she might have hit me had I picked Catwoman for a few reasons.


Dect

Jason Todd

Now, this might come as a bit of a surprise I'm sure. I'm pretty sure someone would have expected me to put Dect into a powersuit due to his fondness for Iron Man. However, Steel and Lex Luthor Dect is not. No offense, but yer not. So why Jason Todd? Well, (and please take no offense to this) but like Jason I think Dect has made a few mistakes on forum that have compermised some member's opinions on him, I'm not about to go into detail for that isn't for me to go into, just saying in general.

Now for those who don't know, Jason Todd was the second Robin and was so ill-liked that DC actually put it to a vote if the character should be killed off. And the fans voted for just that, by quite the margin too. However due to some crazy events involving Superboy Prime, Jason came back from the dead, crawling out of his grave and began to run a muck Gotham (after a bit of course). Since his return he's nearly killed the man who killed him (Joker), stabbed Tim Drake and went on a mass murdering spree during his second coming as Red Hood. And why? All to seek approval.

To me, this is Dect through and through. He's upset people, more than once and is often prone to violence when it comes to rp (from what I've seen). Jason, is very much the same. And just like Dect, keeps coming back for more. Is this a good thing? Well, that's not for me to say.

Miha

Hawkman/Carter Hall

So, as we all know Miha is the resident immortal on c-box. Hawkman is also immortal, in a way. Unlike Miha whom apparently just heals back from every injury like right away, Carter Hall can be 'killed'. However in time he will be reborn, and the cycle will continue. The reasons behind this is a story in itself, which I'm not about to get into for simply saying that Hawkman is an immortal with a bad attitude the majority of the time fits Miha to a tee, depending on the day. o.ob



Haru

Wildcat

For those who don't know, Wildcat is a normal guy, well not exactly normal but a prized ring fighter (a boxer) who one day had enough with the crime he was seeing, slipped into a cat suit and hit the street pounding people in the face with his fists of justice. Now, for those who have known Haru for any length of time know a few simple things, one he likes to be a teddy bear, and yes this is a dude in a cat suit but he sort've looks like a messed up bear at times. Two, he loves himself some wrestling, and while boxing isn't that, it's still a contact sport (which isn't actually fake) and three, Haru was the former Training mod on forum. Wildcat has trained some of the most skilled fighters in DC how to fight, including the Black Canary, so that made sense to me.

All of that said, ignoring the fact he could punch you through a wall... He's just a really good guy, just like our local Harursa.



Blue/Neko/Kazy

Rocket

Now, I kind've call Blue Supergirl from time to time, simply because she tends to say she is, however to me her general attitude leans toward another DC female, Rocket. Yes I realize right away that they don't look alike whatsoever, however! Rocket has a serious inability to keep her thoughts to herself most of the time, and let's face it Blue, you have a history of speaking first and thinking later. And that's pretty much all I have going for this, you were really, really tough to peg. That and you're shorter than me, and look at the picture I posted =o

Kurai

Power Girl

Now boys, don't stare... It's rude. For those who don't know, Power Girl is an alternate form of Supergirl whom came to World 52 during a series of events and has basically stuck around just because. So yes, she's an older, very busty version of Supergirl. Again boys, stop staring. Not nice.

The reason I chose Power Girl for Kurai is due to their similar personality, from what I have seen and been told anyways. Like Power Girl, Kurai has a very friendly demeanor and is quite sweet, will even basically drop what she's doing to do a request for you on box is you ask her nice enough (coughthanksagainforthepicscough). She also has an excellent judge of character and as seen in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, as does Power Girl, for standing around Lex Luthor made the poor super heroine's skin crawl. Understandably so, Lex is a nutter. For all we know he was staring at her bosoms the whole time!

It is these reasons and her overprotective nature of those close to her (on box as I cannot say for rl XD) that I deem her as a suitable Power Girl. So watch out folks, this one packs a wallop.




Jeff

Manchester Black

Were it not to a recent clip I saw of Superman Vs the Elite, I honestly would not have remembered this 1930's DC hitter. Black was first introduced as a ruthless vigilante back in 1939, as I recall, and went toe to toe with Superman along with his team preaching something that Katsu would agree with, heroes ain't heroes unless they put villains down for good. Which is exactly what Black has done throughout his DC career, when he's not getting whipped by Superman for doing it (which happens a lot)

Now, why would I chose Black for Jeff? Honestly, I don't have that great of a reason, I really struggled with Jeff, I did. I really, really did. No, I'm not saying I think Jeff is a bad guy, nor am I saying that Black is (only that Black is a nutter and his methods make him as bad as those he fights, again not saying this about Jeff). My reasons for picking this gent as Jeff are much, much more simple.

He's English.

Now yes, Jeff is in fact from Northern Ireland, but on more than one occasion on box he has said that he is English and for this reason alone, I have picked him.

For those completely unaware of what Black can do... Black was (yes was, he killed himself in 2002, again not to be taken the wrong way Jeff XD) a skilled telekinetic and telepath who was capable of very precise uses of telekinesis. He was, for example, able to give Superman the equivalent of a stroke by telekinetically pinching the blood vessels in Superman's brain. He can also emit offensive blasts and erect shields over himself and others.
He was also able to create very detailed illusions on a vast scale, and could telepathically control thousands of minds at the same time. While controlling Bizarro and Silver Banshee, he was able to temporarily grant them enough sanity to enable them to communicate and to form plans. He was also able to switch Superman's and Bizarro's minds, putting their consciousnesses into each other's bodies.


Now, I think I pretty much got everyone but Von, whom has yet to do anything with his profile, but if I am forgetting anyone, and I mean anyone. Let me know and I'll get back to this as soon as I can put two and two together!

A few members on forum have been dropping me subtle hints to do another round. If anyone has any suggestions for a DC character for a member, shoot me a pm and I'll weigh your opinions in too, for while I have a few ideas for a few members, as a whole I do not. So, any help is grand.

Mr. Mxyzptlk

Now, this was a suggestion for Jeff from one of our members and is actually one of the people who rekindled round two of this. Mr. Mxyzptlk for those who don't know is a being from the 4th Dimension in the DC world and trolls Superman, constantly. Honestly making his life a living hell. Not saying that Jeff trolls that much, but let's face it Jeff, you've been known to troll a bit. Also, according to the member who suggested this character for you, he's a bit like a leprechaun, does strike a bit of a resemblance I have to admit.

And as you say Jeff, you're Irish. (Northern Irish, I know) Which is another reason said member suggested said character. o.ob



Wolf

Zatanna

Now, I don't remember doing a character for Wolf last time around, actually I'm pretty positive I didn't. So, here we go, why Zatanna. Honestly, I don't know. This was another suggestion from a member who knows Wolf quite well. Said member said Wolf likes Magic, a lot. And there isn't really a woman in the DC universe who does magic better than Zatanna. Sure there is Wonder Woman and Raven, but in my opinion and in those of said member, Zatanna can crack out a lot scarier things via magic (while actually having control of'em) than those two. And as such, she was the obvious choice.

That and she looks damn fine in a top hat. And depending on the DCU you're into, her and Nightwing do have a close relationship, hint hint.


Aki-san

Poison Ivy

Now this was actually a request from the woman herself, which you know is the obvious choice for her on several key elements. All that said, the version of Poison Ivy I find that befits Aki-san the best is a short film done by Bat in the Sun studios, called Batman: Seeds of Arkham. Which you can find on youtube if you want to take a look at it, they have some good stuff. But, honestly the moment I saw their take on Poison Ivy, I had to show it to her as to us, it both harnessed Kurisuna. So, that is my justification for the character.

And not just her love of all things plants, tentacles and well more plants.


Von/Shirai

Deathstroke

Now, this is the first of two I'm doing for Von, whom complained and has been complaining to me constantly that I purposely left him out of this. So, I hope yer happy now :/

Why Deathstroke? Well, for those who don't know Deathstroke was first introduced as the Anti-Batman (he even has his own Alfred). Slade is a rich sob, just like Wayne, but instead of suiting up and fighting to save people, he decided to suit up and work as a gun for hire. Because why not? He's good at it, loves doing it, might as well make a buck or two. Von, likes Deathstroke as a character as much, if not more than I do and further more we have a lot in common. So if I'm AK's resident Batman, he's certainly the Deathstroke.

But why Mal? You're surely asking yourself, or me rather. Well, Von has a very nice collection of all things sharp and has a love of fire arms as well. And knows how to use both, to some degree and he's always armed, honestly. More often than not he's got at least one knife on him at all times and if needs to, is prepared to use it to gut someone... Or a bear. Yes, he has a bear fighting knife. And really, that's my reasoning for the choice. That and he's actually threatened to cut me on more than one occasion, though it has been awhile.

Zane and Kurai

The Wonder Twins

Now, while in reality these two are not tiwns, they do call one another brother and sister a lot on forum and as I believe I saw on box today are even going for a twin theme ic when Zane makes a hollow character. I may be incorrect on that last bit, but regardless, they are my choice for these two um.. Well sort've lack luster heroes.

Now, for those who know Zan and Jayna (completely a happy happenstance about the male's name there I swear) were created back in the day for the tv cartoon, The Superfriends, and for the most part were in constant need of being rescued by actual heroes. But they did have some pretty neat abilities, for instance when the two collide their rings together and say Zan "In the form of!" and Jayna"In the shape of!" they can transform. In Janya's case she could become any animal, either alive or dead and fictional I do recall several cases of her turning into a griffin or a dragon. While Zan.. Well he could turn into a shape of an element.. So while Kurai could turn into a wicked ass dragon, Zane could be a puddle.

Now, the reason I chose these two characters for Zane and Kurai is not because I think they're lackluster, because I don't, quite the opposite in fact. The reason I chose these two for them is due to their bond on box. And if anyone has seen these characters in the media they've been shown in, ya know they have a very close bond.

And a pet monkey.

Crazy

Professor Ivo

Now, I've known about one of Professor Ivo's creations, The Amazo for years, but it wasn't until last year when I first saw Young Justice that I actually had really seen anything that interested me about the scientist behind the power stealing robot before. That changed.

Ivo is a mad man, pure and simple. A genius, for sure, but as crazy as a cat full of hats. And Crazy well, he does claim to be just that, crazy and he loves to do things in the name of science. So does Ivo, to a degree and in YJ, he even spent god knows how long thinking of a clever acronym for monkey, for robot monkeys he created. On top of that, he is one of Earth's 13 immortals and when he is taking the serum to keep him one, he's covered in scabrous scales. Otherwise he looks like a plan ole fella.

And since I have never seen a picture of Crazy, due to paranoia of some sort I imagine, this is how I picture him. *nods* Oh and bow ties are cool.


Katsu

Red Volcano

Now, this was an obvious choice for me for Katsu. One, R.V is a human hating robot, who calls humans and well, aliens too. Meat bags. Two, he can control magma, and cause earth quakes. Anyone who knows Kats, knows, KNOWS, he doesn't really like humankind as a whole too much and has been known to go on rants about such things, further more he loves Grimlock and has called a few members on box meatbags to some degree, and as Grimlock, spews fire and rocks a fire sword.

If that isn't Red Volcano, I dunno what is.. Or more to the point, if Red Volcano isn't Katsu, I dunno who is.
