Special thread for the Halloween Apple Bobbing game. Only Dect's character Ubaga may enter. Dect chose number 36 which was a treat apple.
Time - Noon
A small male child no more than eight and covered in dirt teetered up to Mr Yammakoshi's Q'xaeu, wearing the rags of what once was an orange yukata. His two front teeth were missing, evident by the wide grin spread across his grimy face as he climbed into one of the stools. "Food," the child crowed as he brushed dusty black locks away from his deep green eyes, his voice high pitched, typical of a child even of his gender because his age.

Ubaga grabs the handle of a frying pan and slaps it onto a burner. Pooling into the containment of the frying pan was a yellow-ish liquid, presumably cooking oil. Once the oil covered half of the pan, he turns to grab some potatoes. Ubaga turns and kneels down, grabbing a few brown lumps out of a sack under the counter. While fetching the potatoes it seems a visitor wanders up to his establishment and so when the chef arises, he becomes quite startled by the young child's voice. Ubaga doesn't jump but rather just shoots his head toward the source of the voice, eyes mildly widened. Though as his eyes set upon the child's features, Ubaga would relax and release a soft sigh. "Damnit kid, I nearly jumped out of my skin..." he says while shaking his head and laughing light-heartedly. Though as he replies, his work is not interrupted, well, save for the slight startling. Ubaga brings the potatoes and a large knife over to the counter opposing the young child's counter. While briefly examining the child and his clothes, he starts cutting into the potatoes. He cut them half an inch thick in the form of sloppy circles. After doing this to all three potatoes, he begins to slash up the thick circular cuttings. Creating the shape of a french-fry.
Ubaga knew that this kid probably could not pay the bill, judging by his attire and appearance. But that had not wavered him in the slightest. He keeps preparing food, and he even tries to engage the young one in conversation, "So kid.. you live in this district?" Ubaga, at this point, had not even clarified that he was making a meal for the kid. However, he was and this was most likely apparent in the happy-go-lucky tone of voice he was displaying. Ubaga takes his fry-shaped cuttings and tosses them in the heated batch of oil. Taking a spatula in one hand he draws the pepper shaker near in the other. And begins to simultaneously shift the fries around with his spatula while applying pepper into the mix. Loudly the oil frizzes and sizzles, however Ubaga remained with his ears trained upon the kid in case he actually would participate in the conversation.

The child swung his feet back and forth as the stool had elevated him high enough that they were far from touching the ground. His eyes were bright and his face still plastered with a grin as he looked around the stand. Passersby didn't seem to notice the child, even when they looked directly at him. Instead their expressions started off as if contemplating stopping for lunch, then changed to if they had suddenly remembered they had somewhere else very important to be. "Nope," the child replied with a giggle. "I'm not from around here!"

Ubaga grabs a small pot and sets it to the burner aside from the frying potatoes. He puts a quarter of a cube of a butter into the pot and lets it melt before adding in two half inch thick slices of cheese. Ubaga looks down and notices he was left with only a slice of cheese and one stick of butter. And so, he wraps the rest up and walks away momentarily. Once out of view, he was fiddling within the underground storage compartment. He grabs a nice block of cheese and a few more sticks of butter. As well as assorted meats for customers to come.
As he comes back into view, supplies in hand, he notices customers approaching. "Hello!-.. huh?" They suddenly would turn away, not because of his voice but because.. they had changed their mind? That wasn't something that happened every day. Ubaga shrugs it off and tends to the child's meal. After shifting and repositioning the fries a few times to give them a brief look over, he gives them his okay. He strips them from the hot oil with the spatula, putting them in a bowl. Afterward he tends to the cheese sauce in which was on low heat and gives it a brief stir to mash any chunks or bits. With only another minute gone by, the cheese sauce was ready to be poured onto the fries. After applying the smooth yellow sauce to the fries, Ubaga serves the kid his bowl while asking, "Milk, or water?" It was odd though, the kid did not specifically mention where he was from. Just not around here. Ubaga really didn't care though, he wasn't from around here either.
"AND careful, it's hot."

"Milk," the child crowed happily before digging into the food. Though he shoveled it into his mouth with nary a care for the heat emanating from it, his green eyes never left Ubaga, as if it was waiting for something more than milk. Still he had the manners to add, "It's good, ol' man!" Granted, he said as much with a mouth full of half chewed potatoes.

Ubaga nods at the choice and briefly wanders off to pour him a glass. As Ubaga is returning with the glass of milk he briefly stops by the small pantry-rack and grabs a piece of bread. The bread resembled a palm-sized baguette. As the chef he returns he sets the milk down with the bread and says, "The bread is a little hard on the outside, but it's got a nice fluff to it on the inside." The reason it's shell was hard was because, well, it was last week's batch of bread. The leftovers. But he knew the kid probably wouldn't care. As he sets down the bread, the kid would lay down a compliment hidden in an insult. It made Ubaga cringe, the thought of being old. But, he was old so he couldn't say anything. Especially since it was just a child. He simply tends to the cooking. Slapping meat down onto hot metal, adding various spices and sauces and juices. While concocting his bbq masterpiece he felt that of the child's eyes on him. They've been glued to him for some time and while he was able to ignore it at first, it no started to grow a bit creepy. With his right hand he scratches the back of his skull and asks, "So.. kid, uhh.. something troubling you?" Ubaga didn't quiet now how to approaching the starring so he decided not to be so blunt. Try and let the kid come to with what he wanted to say rather than put him on the spot rudely.

The sound of slurping answered Ubaga's question at first as the child greedily set about consuming the milk. He finished it off in one go and ended with a large burp, followed bye another cheery, "Nope!" He then picked up the bread, still watching Ubaga. As he went to take a bite of it, the bread slipped from his oil coated fingers. With a grin, the child followed after the fallen food, disappearing out of Ubaga's sight range beneath the outside of the stall's bar where the legs of the stools were.
He never came back up.
If and when Ubaga took the time to look, he'd find no trace the child had ever been there. Unless one counted the vial of a common local healing ointment sitting on the ground next to the stool the child had sat at.
Ubaga's 'treat' is an item off the item list!
Salve Kit - A small vial of gooey salve which can seal a single minor cut no more than six inches in length or soothe small light burns. Enough for two uses. Limit two vials at a time.
You may post your exit to collect your item, then I will allot RP.

Ubaga shrugs lightly at the response before turning the meat onto it's other side. Before the meat's raw side could begin cooking, Ubaga was looking around the area. His eyes scan around for any approaching customers. Still none. This was getting freaky. It was abnormal for him to have not gotten at least one customer. Ubaga glances down at the child before turning eyes back to the meat. At this point Ubaga would remain with his eyes fixated upon the food and his thoughts on where his customers were at. After sufficiently cooking the beef he lathers it in bbq sauce, letting it sit on the grill a little while longer to let the bbq sauce warm up and get a little crunchy on the sides. He takes the food and slabs it into a metal dish, topping the dish with a lid to encase the heat. The metal container sat on the large barbeque rack, though far off and on an unlit side. It was merely the hottened metal of the rack that transferred onto the container that allowed for the meat inside to stay warm. After preparing the first batch of beef, he begins on the chicken and around that time he takes another glance over to the child.
He was gone!
"I hope he didn't run.. the meal was on the house." Ubaga says as he leans over the counter to look down both sides of the street. Upon spotting not a child in sight, he begins to duck his head back into the stand. Well, that is until a small object is caught in the bottom of his eye. He wanders out of his stand and over to the stools in which the child was last seen. It was an odd container of salve, something he's seen the Shaman uses on the injured back home. Though this one had a different color and seemed to have a likeness most similar to that of the salve around Runkongai. So it was easily understood to be a possible item that was lost by some previous customer. Wandering back into his stand, he tosses the kit into a drawer and gets back to work.
