If things were different, times and realms, one might see a lone figure astride a horse, galloping through the desert, the two becoming smaller and smaller as they rode toward the distant horizon.
However, this was not to be.
Twas but one, walking further and further toward the horizon, wondering where it would lead, where it would take her. Would it lead her anywhere? Or was it simply the end of the world?
One cannot say, but it was a small miracle that she had gotten this far alone, minorly armed, and unhurt.
Where she would end up was a mystery, if her journey would continue on, or if she would simply die in the forgotten wastelands.
But it was likely that she would never, ever return.
There would be no pomp and circumstance, no dramatics or letters goodbye, no body to mourn over.
She simply disappeared.
End
