Name: Daggmask Jaga
Gender: Male
Age: 57
Reiatsu Color: Blood Red
Reiatsu Aura: Aching hunger
Faction: Hollow
Rank: Adjuchas
Appearance:
Daggmask Jaga is an immense worm-like hollow of around thirty feet in length, approximately three feet in height and width, and some twelve hundred pounds in weight. Years of crawling the sands have given him a tough, leathery hide that extends down his entire, limbless length. This hide is colored a dusty yellow to allow him to blend in with the sands, though it would be hard to miss him during movement as his bulk shifts so much sand that dust clouds can be seen for miles. A common sign of Jaga's arrival in the wastelands is this very sign, a thick roiling of sand into the air and a roar across the dunes.
Three ridges line this length, a set of spines along his dorsal region as well as two flowing skirts along either side of his underbelly, not unlike those of the common slug, the primary difference being Jaga's mobility and size. Numerous scars also line his hide, some where the creature has brushed by large rocks within the wasteland sands, but others where he has had run-ins with smaller hollow. Few of these are very deep, partly because Jaga's hide is thick and the few encounters he has had thusfar in his short lifespan simply haven't produced grievous injuries, but mostly because Jaga's method of combat is to strike before the enemy can wound him in a grave manner.
Jaga's skull is plated thick with bone. This is a natural development of the sandworm as many have a tendency to be very poor in sight. It is common for Jaga to use his head as a battering ram, albeit unintentionally, generally speaking. Thus, his forehead is equipped with a bony plate connected to two horns that curl about his face. This serves as his hollow mask and extends forward to the tips of his nostrils. Beneath this mask are two beady eyes set into the sides of his face. The eyes are not forward-set, denoting a limited intellect, and are glazed over with an eyelid that can be closed while underground to keep debris from getting into them.
Finally, Jaga's mouth sits below his maskplate and eyes and is the most prominently large feature on his face. Open wide to more than the height of the average man, the mouth reveals a row of sharp daggers for teeth, made to rend and tear at flesh to feed the insatiable appetite of the worm. Equipped to either side of the mouth are two horns, both of which bulbous and thick from an internal gland.
Personality: Unfortunately, Jaga is both ravenously hungry and dangerously stupid. The immense worm will ingest anything provided it seems like it should be eaten. Many times, he has crawled upon his prey, lurking as subtly as a forty foot sandworm can, spraying sand all over, and opened his jaws to snatch the creature up only to find that he has instead bitten a boulder the size of his head. Howling, he will spit out this inedible substance and continue on his way to finding more food. Food, of course, is his primary drive. He knows or cares little for other things. In most cases, this is because his brain is not developed enough to handle complicated concepts.
He does have a sense of self-preservation, however, and will not necessarily attack those larger or more powerful than him. The former is fairly uncommon, though the latter tends to be a problem, and Jaga has mostly been lucky thusfar. Upon encountering a stronger foe, Jaga's main tendency is to refrain from attacking, lurking instead and following orders as given because he is too dumb to make decisions for himself. In times of extreme hunger, however, he may attack creatures larger or stronger than himself in order to satiate his appetite.
Jaga is, in many ways, like a hungry puppy. The sandworm's low intellect means that he will likely submit to an authoritative will and understands pack mentality to some extent. Sandworm hollow of his kind do not often take to packs, but Jaga's former human personality is that of a child, and like a child, he seeks guidance subconsciously. He has followed some hollow and arrancar for days before, hoping for their approval and often bringing home dead hollow as a "gift" for them and a show of his hard work. Few have acknowledged this, and this commonly is enough to tell Jaga to leave.
History:
June 3rd, 1943 n.w.: Birth among the carcass of deceased mother and father.
1956 n.w.: Now somewhat grown, Jaga has his first run in with a stronger hollow.
1960 n.w.: Jaga returns from hibernation and feeds again, now wary of stronger enemies.
2001 n.w.: Present time.
Jaga remembered only being hungry on the day of his birth and all around him food. The two behemoth worms were torn apart, their flesh strewn across the sands and their innards ripe for Jaga to ingest ravenously. It was from this he first knew the taste of flesh and from this the everpresent hunger in his gut. It gnawed at him, calling for him to rip and to tear and to chew on everything in sight. The truth, of course, was simple. The physiology of the growing hungry worm inside Jaga's mother caused her to fly into a fenzy during birth, attacking the nearest creature, which was Jaga's father. She killed him, for she was larger and stronger, and she fed upon his corpse, however, Jaga's birth was not a peaceful one, and the newborn worm ruptured from his mother's flesh, killing her as well. Jaga knew none of this, only that he was hungry and there was food near.
For many years he had only eaten the smaller of hollows. They were easy prey for the small worm. He was only a few feet long then, but his jaw was swift and his hunger terrible. It was not until one day that he struck above the dunes to eat and encountered the leg of some massive cervine creature whose hoof struck him in the head. His headplate absorbed much of the damage, so still he lashed forwards, intending on feeding. Again the hollow struck outwards to him, and this time, left a gaping hole in his side. Screeching in pain, he writhed on the sands as the hollow turned on him. It opened jaws made to rend as well, though it had been feeding already and so its mouth was wet with blood. It approached, and Jaga, panicked, threw himself into the sands, burying deep and entering a hibernation state to preserve energy.
Beyond that time, Jaga knew to avoid those who might kill him, and instead he chose his prey with care. He had been lucky thusfar, but many hollow died when dealing with those larger and stronger, a fact of which he was a willing proponent. For the next forty or so years, his life was simple. Eat. Avoid predators. Grow. Eat again. This was how his world flowed, and the worm grew and grew. Still a simple mind, however, he hungered for more than food. He hungered for the influence of a parent he had never known, though this desire was unfamiliar to him, and he could not understand what drove him to be so ravenous. He ate and ate but nothing filled the hunger.
