[About]These rules are in place to help ensure that AK is running as efficiently as can be expected. There are four categories of rules: OOC rules, which involve general posting on the forum and within the chat box; IC rules, which involve things which you should not be posting or doing in character; activity rules, which are for how often we expect people to be posting to be considered active; and a more expansive set of Cbox rules, which focus on behavior and content specifically within the cbox. These rules are subject to change over time. When changes are made, notices will be sent out. Disciplinary action taken depends on the offense, but it can include bans on site and box or IC repercussions. Repeat offenders are more likely to be punished for minor infractions.Out of Character Rules - [link] In Character Rules and Thread Guidelines - [link] Activity Rules - [link] Cbox Rules - [link] Disclaimers - [link]

[OOC Rules]1. You may only make two accounts on AK, one for each Primary Character. In the event that you have a relative, spouse, or friend that lives with you who wants to join, the admin must be informed of such. The account display names should be that of the character you intend to use.
2. For the time being, each person is only allowed two characters and one Associate Character per each of those characters (totalling four characters-Primary, Associate, Secondary, Associate). Each Associate Character must share the Faction of the attendant Main Character; Imperials may be in a different division as the Main Character, though they must remain as a subordinate officer. Main Characters and Associates may be in the same thread as each other, but Primary and Secondary characters cannot, nor can either Character's Associate partake in a thread with the other. This is to encourage RP with other members of the site.
3. It is against Proboards' ToS to hide ads, so do not put YouTube videos in spoilers; I will remove them if I see it happening.
4. Racism, trolling, flaming, harassment, and disrespect all around are not tolerated on the forum, in personal messages, or in the chatbox. If you feel you are being harassed, please PM the admin so that the situation can be stopped. We want you to be comfortable here on AK!
5. No posting graphic images or writings; this includes pornography of any sort or gory imagery. We prefer to keep things at the level of a PG-13 movie!
6. Keep topics, whether in the chat box or forum, relatively clean. We allow for light humor and innuendo, but many members don't want to see such chats and many of our guests on forum are likely minors. We also don't want to get shut down by Proboards.
7. Do not bring up controversial topics such as religion, politics, abortion, and things like these on the chatbox. IF you feel you must have a discussion about such things, use the spam board and use the spoiler tags with a warning label. This is because, for most people, an RP forum is a place to have fun and relax and they don't want such things staring them in the face. All other rules apply to these threads; such as no disrespectful remarks or graphic content. Under no circumstances are you to bring up the legalizing of any drugs as we really don't want law enforcement patrolling our board or Proboards shutting us down.
8. No invite only threads. RP is about interaction and not just with a set clique of people. All threads are naturally Open threads, meaning that anyone who has reason can join.
9. While you may have closed threads, you cannot be doing anything significant in them, such as setting a trap, destroying a building, or killing a person, even if it is an NPC. Threads that violate this rule will be deleted. Closed threads may only be occupied by a single character, making them Solo threads. Solo threads do not earn points, with the exception being a training thread in the training board.
10. You may be in up to two current threads at once, both as your Primary Character and as the attendant Associated Character (totalling four present threads, excluding any Events to bring the total up to 5 threads) in order to move things along; if you are joining or making a second present thread, there needs to be a two-week (roughly) IC time-difference. You may be in as many past threads as you think you can handle. A past thread is any thread taking place before whatever the current IC year is, and any current thread may take place at any point within the current canon season, provided that it does not counteract any Plot-based thread, which is considered the ultimate canon. It is the duty of the threadmaker to note during what season and time of day the thread occurs, in addition to where in the general timeline the thread takes place. Please use the Thread Description to note whether the thread is past or presents, and include the year in brackets: [2014].
11. Unless otherwise stated in the thread, each one needs to follow the set post order so that things don't get confusing. In the event that a person is skipped due to activity, that person forfeits his post for that turn and may resume the normal posting order on the next round. In the event that there is a Main Character and its attendant Associate Character in the same thread, both need to be posted from within the same post; if you require differentiation between your two characters, it can be done with the horizontal rule [*hr] or some other marker as you see fit.
12. Do not argue with staff when they are dealing with another member; it simply causes more problems. If you have a qualm, PM zoi to get it sorted out.
13. Where filters are in place, namely the chat box, do not try to go around them as they are in place for a reason. Repeated offenses can lead to short or long term bans and if it doesn't stop, it can result in a permanent ban from the privilege of using the chat box.
14. Signatures are required for all accounts and must include a link to the character profile(s) used for that account only in order to limit the potential for confusion -- there must only be two character links; any more and your signature will be deleted. Images used for signatures may be no more than 600px wide and 400px tall; images larger than that will be removed, as will any images that are against the rules outlined in this thread. A typical signature generally includes the link to the character profiles tied to that account, the associated Hexadecimal color codes for the characters, and a picture or comment. A link to the member's database profile can be found in the mini-profile.
15. Do not give out links via the site for pirated material. This includes posting it in a thread, through PMs, or in the cbox.
16. No Spoilers - A controversial topic at best given that people love to argue this rule, however this rule doesn't mean you can never state what happened in a series or the like. What it does mean, is if someone legitimately doesn't want to hear information regarding a game, a movie, a TV show, a book, or anything of the sort, for fear of it being ruined before they can experience it, you respect their wishes and don't provide information on it via the box and you don't purposely seek to do so on the site either. If you are concerned information you are posting on site is a spoiler, we do have a spoiler tag you can use.
On the other hand, please don't complain about someone posting a spoiler if you don't truly care about the content of the information. This is annoying and one of the reasons people argue about having a spoiler rule. Also, posting 'Spoiler Alert' or anything of the sort in the box or site before posting something you know is a spoiler to someone, is still violating the rule as most people can read information tidbits before they can actually process it, so they end up reading the spoiler anyways.
Debating the rule or saying sarcastic or rude things in regard to the rule or people who don't want spoilers, such as, "Spoiler alert, Jesus/Whoever, dies," will earn you an automatic ban.
17. Upon the arrival of a thread's ending, once all characters have exited, the last person to exit should change the label of the thread to include the "Ready to Grade" tag so that when the time comes to grade threads, it can be done in a timely manner. If your thread hasn't been attended to in a few days, PM Mhairyn "Aryn" Dirson or zoi.
18. Each player must decide between their two accounts which will be the 'Main' Character; a thread is established where players will post which account/character is their Main, which is their Secondary, and then list their CBox Aliases. This will be done in this thread. This is done so that the memberbase knows who is who and so that the Of the Month awards can be done in a uniform manner.
19. An individual may have up to three names registered in the CBox to reduce both confusion and clutter. These names are required to use the following alpha-numerical characters: A-Z, a-z, 0-9; they do not allow spaces. Names must follow site rules and guidelines.
20. Each character profile is required to have the mini-profile filled out in the following manner using the guidelines posted below. This is to provide a detailed, yet brief, overview of the characters you are interacting with to eliminate the need to be constantly reading everyone's profiles. If they are not filled out, your rewards will not be allocated.

[IC Rules]1. Drug use, drinking, and lewd behaviors, while they can be referenced in character, need to be kept to a minimum as proboards does not approve of such things.
2. Things of a graphic nature must be omitted as the board must essentially be rated PG13 due to Proboards' ToS. This means no sexual content, no excessive gory details in fights, and no excessive violent description. If we are found in violation of this, we will be shut down.
3. No murdering NPCs in threads that are not events or bounties; any characters found to be committing murders in general threads will be persecuted in character.
4. No godmodding. This includes not only the standard definitively saying you hit someone, avoid all attacks, and RPing outside you stats, skills, and abilities, but also ignoring things which are effecting your character, such as fatigue, pain, sickness, and the like.
5. No metagaming. This means taking knowledge you have OOCly and using ICly as if your character had that information as well.
6. No acting OOC. This means obviously doing something that goes against the set personality of the character due to biased feelings in either direction towards another character OOCly or doing over the top illogical things just because you feel like it. [Thread Guidelines]1. All threads are required to have the Time (Present or Past) and the Year in [brackets] in the Thread Description. The date that the thread is taking place will be the date that it is posted, unless otherwise specified in the Thread Description; this allows things to move forward without waiting for a general consensus of the board and to generate a sense of passing time. Continuations of threads require links to the next and previous in the series in addition to the amount of time passed between them (an hour, immediately, several days, etc).
2. You cannot enter a thread and then exit within the same post.
3. You cannot attack in your first post in a thread.
4. In serious threads when you are tracking or hunting a person or anything similar, you cannot simply find them in the first post.
5. You cannot attack someone/destroy something, or anything similar and try to exit in the same post.
6. You can't exit a thread if someone just attacked you in their previous post.
7. You may not join a thread with two separate accounts, or both Main Characters unless it is an staff-run event and the moderator in charge has given permission; posting in the same thread with a Primary Character and its Associate is allowed.
8. If your Primary Character and its Associate are in the same thread, both need to be posted from within the same post; to differentiate, you may use the Horizontal Rule [h*r] (remove the asterisk) or separate colors. Upon exiting the thread with the Primary and Associate characters, please be sure to clearly state which characters have exited.

[Activity Rules]In order to keep AK running efficiently, activity rules are necessary. They keep people from being thread-locked so that no RP occurs and allows us to keep events, and therefore the plot, moving. Without these things, there is no RP forum. The rule for all characters is the same: at least two weeks without any IC posting and you will be moved to limbo. Any character in limbo for two months will be killed off. To get a character removed from Limbo, you must post in and complete a thread.
Being in a thread has its own activity rules. If you have not posted after three FIVE days since the last post in the thread, you will be skipped and will be allowed to post on your next turn; if this becomes a common occurrence, and if any other players so request it, you will be exited and have your RP (roleplay points) earned in the thread docked by half. If no one has posted a skip to keep the thread going, a staff member will do so after 7 DAYS of stagnation.
To have a player exited, the one making the request should PM one of the thread moderators and include a link to the thread and the name of the player to be exited. As the player being exited, you will not receive a warning prior to this, as it is written in the rules. The exception is if you have posted an absence in the absences thread or you contact someone to tell them you can't get on with valid reason, and they in turn must alert the staff. If you are going to be gone longer than a week, you will still be exited, though not docked points. If it appears you are not posting to avoid being hurt or killed in a fight, you will take the hit or other damage prior to being exited. If it becomes a habit, it is possible your character will be killed instead of exited.
Events have their own set of rules that the moderator in charge will issue in the initial event post. Those rules supersede these to some extent.

[Cbox Behaviors]The cbox is a privilege, allowing the memberbase to engage in casual conversation without the need for the continued checking of messages or threads. As such, it is supposed to be a light-hearted, fun-filled environment so that everyone's stay is enjoyable. Naturally, this creates some impositions on what can or cannot be done or said:
Content: This is a public forum, therefore anything said or done in the box reflects on the site as a whole. The same content regulations from the site, as outlined above, are also in place on the box. This means no links to crude, pornographic, or controversial content, sites, images, or videos. This also means to not talk about them in the box. Additionally, while we appreciate your openness with us, we don't need to know all that's going on in your life, so we ask that you keep the personal content to a minimum for your own safety.
Behavior: Ideally, the cbox is a place for light, casual conversation with friends and acquaintances where we can relax in a friendly and inviting atmosphere. That being said, we are aware that there are bad days in life, but that does not mean that everyone has to sink down to that particular level. If you must talk about it, feel free to do so in the Blogger HQ or over PMs/Skype. We encourage all our members to enact the Golden Rule, where you treat others the way you want to be treated. This means to be respectful and polite and to not instigate arguments or trollish behavior, and to not go around the filter to keep the mood light.
As there is often an influx of new and returning members, we ask that you keep the name changes to an absolute minimum; each of you are allowed up to three registered usernames in the cbox, and any more will result in immediate deletion of all names associated with that IP without warning. This is done to reduce clutter in the cbox control panel and to keep the confusion to a minimum.
Relationships:It is not uncommon for people to form relationships in the cbox. These can range from a familial relationship, such as brother/sister or parent/child, to spousal or even extending into real life. There are no rules against forming and maintaining these relationships, but there are stipulations and caveats that must be followed in order to keep the cbox available for use and the site up and running.
As a general rule, things must be kept PG-13 or lower; a good idea is the 8th Grade Formal Dance (or at about 13 years old): Heavy on the chaperones and heavier on the interference. For example, you may enact 'pet' behaviors, such as snuggling and nuzzling, huggling, and smooching (as a form of chaste, gentle kiss), but nothing to the extent of making out, spooning, or overly sappy behavior for prolonged duration. Light innuendo is okay, but if anyone at all is uncomfortable with anything and asks for it to stop, then it must stop; we want everyone to be happy and comfortable!
Infractions and Punishments:The moderators operate on a three-strike system before they resort to muting or banning; after the third and final warning to a member to stop,it is within the moderator's power to ban or mute as the situation dictates. Upon a muting or banning, the moderator will then post in the box to alert the member, and everyone else, that a punishment has taken place, the duration of the punishment, and that the member may PM the moderator or admin to discuss the situation. It should be noted that subsequent mutings may culminate in a ban, and frequent bannings may earn a permanent ban.
Additionally, if a moderator is in the middle of dealing with a situation, please do not intrude, even if you think you are being helpful -- it actually makes things more confusing for every one involved.
