Appearance:[Cullen Rutherford of Dragon Age; Made by llegolas on DeviantArt]Physical - 6'2" | 185 lbsGavin is a tall man, standing at six feet, two inches and has quite the muscular physique, weighing roughly one-hundred and eighty-five pounds. Although he looks 'intimidating,' he takes a very mannered and cordial stance, polite so long as another doesn't offend him in any regard. His stature is usually straight like a soldier, but can adapt to the situation -- he's often prepared to meet a poise and react accordingly with his own. While he gives off the impression he's 'restrained,' it's also likely he could look tense and jittery; depends on the circumstance and if his PTSD and anxiety isn't in uproar.

He's quite handsome overall, even with the scar along his face, which is near his upper lip on the right side of his visage. He has clear, chocolate oculars that shimmer like the sun in light, sandy-blonde hair often well-kept and short, a bit of stubble upon his face, and a generally pale complexion.
Being an orphan, he doesn't possess any formal attire, and he doesn't change much of his usual attire. His standard attire is his battle attire, essentially, consisting of: leather, black knee-high boots with shin, knee and ankle guards of plated metal; cotton-black trousers; a large, brown-leather belt with a buckle and holster for his weapon -- a gold-sash-thing is attached to the belt; a red-brown tunic with a gold pattern and matching vest, which drapes down to nearly his knees -- the vest has fur of black and red fur along the top; a black, long-sleeve shirt underneath the chest plate and vest; black leather gloves; and finally armor of metal-steel at the shoulders, forearms-wrists, the chest, knees, shins and ankles.

Well, mainly one that he doesn't feel comfortable sharing, but alas! Overall, he's seen as religious, devoted to friends, family and those who deserve his loyalty; but he usually won't follow someone blindly, considering what he's been through. He also possesses a strong sense of justice and can decipher right from wrong. Gavin, however, lacks tact, preferring, on most occasions, blunt courses of action and reaction. Still, he'll remain brave and resolute to the best of his abilities -- and he'll extend his help and protection to those who need and deserve it. Reflective of his blunt personality, Gavin prefers force over stealth when in the heat of battle. But, he's not dense: he's smart and tactical, very aware of the threat and serious with the course of action.

Gavin is observant to those he's foreign to. While he may seem nice, he's wary, on-edge, and mistrusting at first. In fact, he's no pushover, he's not one to let someone take his kindness for granted. He won't follow someone blindly, even if he is loyal to someone. He may come across as aggressive when handling someone he's not familiar with -- just a reflection of his rough character, at times. He's blunt, calculative and watchful; he won't let someone get an advantage over him, assuming that they mean him or someone he cares for, harm.
On a professional level, Gavin is respectful, approachable as usual, mindful of his words and resourceful, utilizing whatever means necessary to get the job done. He's still guarded, considering his issues of post traumatic stress disorder, and when he tends to sink into that disorder, he'll try and excuse himself for a moment. He's a tactician at heart, always planning direct courses of action, and he lets his bravery show even in the most dire of situations.
If on a friendly level, or acquaintances, Gavin is pretty kind and tends to make light jokes. He still exudes approachability, even if he remains guarded about his issues and past. He retains the mindful nature and politeness, not wanting to offend in any way.
When one knows him on an intimate level, Gavin is warm, caring, passionate but shy. In a sense, he can be rough with his emotions, since he's not accustomed to people being so close, often considered aggressive if he leans in for a kiss, or something. And, if one knows him on this level, they might be aware of his past -- so his problems come to light, and it's inevitable that they find him to be uneasy, traumatized and in suffering. But he's very soft spoken when dealing with people he cares about, loyal and devoted. He'd never strike or intentionally harm someone he loves -- that would be the last thing he'd wish upon them.
He yearns desperately to overcome his disorder, or at least learn to control his 'urges' and flashbacks. Eventually, when he feels better about his torture-experience, Gavin would like to settle down and have a family. Mainly, he aims for peace and follows his religious code, hoping to find some sort of resolve through the Makers. And, he wants to remain and grow strong so that he can resume protecting people.
Gavin is a fan of most strategy games, but his favorite is chess. He likes quiet places, which helps him achieve peace, especially when his PTSD gets out of hand. He likes most forms of water, finding the sounds of streams or waterfalls soothing, as with the rain. He loves his 'religion', as well as friends and family. And he likes justice and order.
He's wary of magic, even if he might come to possess it. He doesn't like the Order much, even if the deserters were banished, had fled or were exiled. Magic and Eiphyre is a very touchy subject for him, one that he'd rather avoid. He dislikes criminals and the thought of torture.
His fears include magic, the Order (even though it's more of a mistrust), losing his 'sister', Inni, losing a potential or actual lover, and he often is cursed with reliving his traumatic experience.
He tends to embarrass easily around women, and he suffers from PTSD. He'll be fidgety, might become angry, he'll often have nightmares and day-dreams about the experience of his torture; it's almost as if he's withdrawing, but plagued by negative memories and suffering mental and emotional trauma, stressful at its best.
History:TimelineGavin was a child of common wealth, born to two parents who frequently traded in Three-forks. That's eventually where they settled to have their first child, but, unfortunately, it'd be their last. At the mere age of two, Gavin would find himself abandoned and orphaned, not because his parents willed it so, no, but due to a raid against the family business. Bandits took all that his parents were worth, leaving a crying, half-naked toddler in the wake of destruction. However, by the Makers' blessings, Gavin wouldn't starve, wouldn't face death. Several residents of Three-Forks stumbled upon the child and would then bring him to the Orphanage. He'd get a second chance at life.

The orphanage became his home, became a sanctuary -- while he always questioned what happened, who his parents were, or at least what they were like, he at least was blessed with their names and the stories acquaintances often shared. He received a decent education at the orphanage, but what he really wanted was a family; he desired the notion of it. In that regard, he'd stumble upon a girl younger than he at the orphanage, a girl named Inniúila. He was five at the time, while she was two -- the situation sort of reminded him of himself. Naturally, he made a brotherly effort to take care of her, and the two bonded. He'd consider her a sister, as the two grew and made their own psuedo-family. As he became older, he'd find himself wondering about a higher power, Gods to rule them all; so it wasn't surprising he became religious, praying to them in the name of: "The Makers." Or maybe he heard Them called as such from others, he couldn't quite care or remember -- it was the belief that counted.
At a young but acceptable age, Gavin found himself looking for work. In Three-Forks, a lot of job openings were that of protecting wares of merchants. So, he found himself working as a body-guard for the caravans and goods, though he thankfully saw little action; however, the thought of being unable to defend himself was terrifying. He'd then find himself using what money he could spare to train after a few years of work, to hire a mentor, learning to utilize and carry a weapon. But, he didn't feel a sense of purpose, he didn't feel fulfillment -- he began to wonder if his life's mission wasn't body-guarding caravans; he pondered if his religion would want something greater of him.
At the age of 16, he'd set sail and depart Three-Forks with his 'sister'. As much as he wanted her to stay, she wouldn't listen -- she was stubborn and demanding, so eventually she won her case. He swore to protect her from any harm, if able. So he found himself searching, traveling to many different places, either with caravans or groups until reaching a destination. That way, he'd learn the trick of traveling, as would his sister. He often looked for tasks he could do to help people -- it kind of sparked his 'mission' from the Makers. He would help people, for the good of it, since he was a good person.
As he reached adulthood, his skills having grown, he'd find himself and 'Inni' doing more risky missions, but still all for the good of the people -- even if Inni had a snark-y remark for it. An awful event would occur when he was at the mere age of 20, an event that'd shape his life and character. The culprits they were tasked to deal with were deserters of the mage Order, the Order of the Sun -- or so he believed. They were using their powers for evil, for selfish greed. He found himself caught, while he begged Inni to run, to gather help, for it was too late for himself. And, for a few days, he faced a gruesome torture, afflicted with horrible illusions, nightmares, and pain. It scarred him ultimately, to face something so horrible and draining to the mind. He wasn't the same after that, even when the phony Order bandits (a group of naturals claiming to be of the order) were captured or killed by Inni and any hired hand she could find. He developed a mistrust, a disdain and negative opinion of anything eiphyre related, even if he knew that he, himself, could possibly possess magic. But, with this experience, he knew he'd gain a third chance at life -- and to construct his path and mission to stopping the magic-wielders wanting to do harm instead of good.
That very next year, his objective had people calling him 'The Templar'. He was a knight of the Gods, sworn to help those in need and make the realm better by ridding it of evil-magic -- even though it did alter his perception of all magic-users to a negative light. Not even consolation from his sister could rid his anxiety and traumatic 'disorder'. He was scarred, possibly for life. But, religion would guide the way, no?
He found himself resuming this life's dedication, growing more experienced, even if the anxiety and like tormented him on a daily basis. As long as he prayed, he felt more comfortable with it; or, rather, as comfortable as he could be about it.
He resumed his missions, making a pit-stop in the capital of the world, Vertholt, with his sister still loyally by his side.
