My dear Ki, one feels as if one is receiving a lacklustre education at Uni. Perhaps it's just because my secondary education was so stellar =/ Assignments are often returned late. Lecturers are making obvious errors. We were graded on a piece of paperwork which we were led to believe would not form part of our mark for that module. Last semester I went down from 9-10 taught hours a week to 4. Thankfully this semester I'm back up to six. It's just been a pain >_>

Just look at my papers. They are filled with doodles/sketches.

I didn't say that. That is what we are getting. And lecturers don't seem to know what they are lecturing about.

I enjoy lectures myself as I'm partly an aural learner.
Have you considered a different school, or is that just not an option there? I'm not really familiar with the setting to make an educated guess.

Debt, bills, a competitive job market and lousy housing options.
Also women.

No reason you can't engage in self-study to supplement what the uni does, especially if you aren't spending a lot of time in class. Even if you can't purchase books about the subject matter, there are tons of free online resources for most subjects.

How come?
Is your class small enough that you really take notice of them?

True, but then why am I paying them thousands of pounds a year?

If you're truly worried about the level of education you are receiving, then you should still try to supplement your learning for yourself, whether you're bitter or not. =P Especially if it is too late, as you said, to do anything about the place you are attending.

I think every student who treats university seriously supplements their academic education in some fashion. Our teachers liberally advocate all resources available, including the internet. But I've been over this in flight school, and it doesn't always make up for the incompetence of the institution.
I'd be beyond bitter if I were to lose grades over a mishandled assignment, or because I'd been taught something wrongly. At the end of the day, my employers aren't going to care about the hours I've spent slaving over my keyboard; they're going to be looking at my GPA. I can definitely understand the frustration.

Yes, but the way he address the issue marks that a lack of learning is frustrating as well. Sometimes you just have to take it upon yourself to get what you need, which, not everyone does. I do understand having bad instructors though, because I went through that in high school with both geometry and chemistry.

I'm satisfied with my teachers at the university. They're friendly, understanding. This is offset by the fact that our classes are so small they have no choice but to learn my name anyway. >_>
Flight school is different. We have nine different topics to cover, and nine different instructors. It's too impersonal for me. The only thing they share in common is their desire to conduct the class in German (I'm consistently the only person to oppose this).

My high school was so small that teachers I didn't even have for class knew my name. >_>;
I need to decide whether to take Biology or Ecology for my second semester science. I'd rather take Biology, but I feel Ecology might make a bit more since with a Psychology degree. e,,e Ended up deciding to do Criminal Behavior and Child Development over Anatomy I & II for semester four though.

I do understand having bad instructors though, because I went through that in high school with both geometry and chemistry. My freshman, sophomore, and junior year in high school I was stuck with a teacher didn't teach us anything. I even went in before school started to get help and was ignored the whole time.. It didn't make it any better knowing that my math teacher was my cousin's grandpa.

Well, it wouldnt be hard if not for the fact its the teacher xP I kind of worded that badly. I meant I ended up in class with a profesor I really dislike. But I should be fine as long as I just focus on the subject. Though contrastive grammar dosent sound to like a thriling experinace

Yeah, an instructor can make or break the class. I have a problem if the teacher speaks with a heavy accent. It's hard for me to focus on what she's saying if I can't really understand what's being said. Or if i am being distracted by how it's being said.

It's somewhat true for me. For the two math projects I had last quarter I would say I was the most proactive one in my group. Though aside from setting up the problems (which to be fair was a pretty decent portion of the work) we had the write up and actually solving the problems divided up pretty evenly. [link]
For Crazy. It was part of one of my lesson's additional resources today. I have a meditation technique that i can write up and send to you, too, if you want. It'll help you clear your mind. My ab-psych instructor swears by it. o.o7 Thanks for the link and I would like to hear about the meditation technique. I did notice that when I brought a stress ball to finals it was pretty helpful. Although having four hours on the test instead of one hour was also a factor. Part of the time I do get pretty nervous due to the amount of time that I have on a test. I'm usually able to budget my time pretty well and get some work on all of the problems done at the very least (especially in Calculus) though my coding tests are an exception. On my first and third test I ran out of time and given that a lot of the coding was hit or miss I took some hits on that. But now for some good news. I managed to get a summer internship for a company that is developing an electronic stethoscope that allows you to look at someone's EKG and lung activity on a computer or smartphone. I also got my grades back. I got a C in my coding class and Physiology. Given what my current grades were for those I wasn't too surprised but given how some of my recent tests went with those classes it could have been worse. In Calculus I managed to maintain my B which is always a good thing. Finally for Physics I managed to get a C+. I was honestly expecting a D due to what my grade was so i'm pretty happy with that. Also tells me that I must have done pretty good on it given that the only way I could have gotten a 80% on my total grade was if I scored a perfect on my final. Overall I would have to say that my grades were okay and I want to see them get better but I'm happy with them.
