There would be no redemption for Yumi Konno. Driven by intense madness, she fled to the forest, though somehow managed to grab her own bag before darting into the forest.
Being the first out of the trailer, no-one had noticed her departure. It wasn't until the next day that the alarm of her absence was raised. Efforts to find her were fruitless.
Until the reports started coming in. Animals, including a good amount of livestock, were turning up dead. Eventually some farmers observed the perpetrator, but couldn't decide whether it was a wolf or a person in Shinigami garb. And then there was that couple who went for a walk in the woods....
Eventually a team was set up to capture what they guessed was the missing Konno Yumi. They were unsuccessful. Every time they moved in, she moved out. The first time they made contact, all they got was a stabbed team-mate for their trouble. But finally they got her, after surrounding an area, then moving in after they had predicted she would be weak from hunger, unable to hunt with their presence. And it work.
A creature, almost as disfigured as any Hollow, was dragged back to Seireitei. No amount of enquiries, of talking to all Shinigami there, ever fully explained this situation. And as for Yumi? She would be confined to the mental wing of the Fourth Division, where I and my colleagues continue to watch over my daughter....she never showed any sign of improvement. I believe...if someone...could have done something...right there and then...then maybe this wouldn't have happened.
I'm sorry Yumi.
Document by Konno Hikaru, Fourth Division. 2037nw.
[BAD END]
Lady Kabelja, by good fortune, had managed to avoid the traps, her oblivious partner having charged right on, with the First Divisioner following behind before the attackers had a chance to reset. Dutifully she bowed, thanked her partner for the night (though it was doubtful she had paid any attention to her), picked up her bag and left for home.
