For those who were unable to make the broadcast yesterday I did record it, it's in two parts which you can find here. Furthermore for those who were unable to attend you may ask any questions or voice any opinions you have about what was said or not said, here. In advance I apologize for my cutting in and out from time to time, my mic and livestream kept having an argument every now and then. Additionally because I was late posting this up (and because it took forever for the videos to appear on my stream) the poll will be extended for another 48 hours, which can be found here.templatescurrent map

To start off, personally I'm hoping to play a more antagonistic character again. Could I use everything that I earned with Ryuu and just remake him for the new setting or does the soft reset have to be for a currently living character?
This next question goes hand in hand with the previous one but are we allowed to change the personalities at all (and if so then to what extent) or if we want to do a soft reset, does that mean that we need to use the same characters with no changes to the personality?
Next is if there is any sort of time frame for when the reset will occur. I don't remember that being mentioned so I wanted to ask about it.
Finally I have two suggestions. The first is to give people the option of just posting in an item thread instead of RPing out the purchase. I think we should do this just so there is a quick alternative so someone can purchase an item without spending several days (possibly longer if something causes one of the posters to be delayed) in a thread. There wouldn't be an opportunity to get a special item or RP points but in exchange you would get your items much faster.
My second suggestions is to make it a lot harder to kill a character off. Instead of making it so that if a fight breaks out in a thread, anyone could die at any second, why not have it so that a character can only die in a thread if the posters agree to it beforehand (or mid fight) or there is a warning that the thread carries the risk of death. It won't take away much from the RP and it makes it harder for someone to lose all of the work they put into a character.
I could have sworn that there were a few other things that I wanted to ask but I can't think of them right now. I'll post them later on if I remember.

I can answer some things for you, Crazy:
Frox/Mal mentioned a slight change to your character's personality, but if the history is changing slightly, I honestly don't see why you can't have a major event that would, possibly, drastically alter the character's disposition. I really don't see personality changes to be much of an issue, in my opinion, though if the others don't agree then they can obviously oppose.
I believe Mal mentioned in the livestream that it would be same time era, but a more medieval-ish/fantasy location. If that answers your question. Oh, and something about January 15th.
Long ago, in a galaxy/site far away...
There was a label/part of the profile that was called PvP Permission. Basically this allowed people to say Yes, I'm open to PvP when I step into a thread and you have the intention of fighting me; PM for permission, which meant that the opponent had to shoot them a personal message asking if they could; and I believe there was a No. Still, even if they were PM for permission or No, I don't think they had much of a choice if they stepped into a thread that festered into a fight. It's unrealistic to give someone the option to choose not to be able to be fought, especially when you could be casually interacting with someone and, oh! Out pops a dragon/troll/gnome (scary guys)/pack of wolves/etc. You can't say that there's not a risk for injury, death. Simply, it just wouldn't make sense and it's also unfair if someone can't be killed while someone else has the possibility of losing their life. It happens to the best of us. If people would like to warn someone that there's a possible chance of dying if their character is a psychopath then I don't see that as a problem. Also, interaction mid-way through a thread could make the choice to not kill someone deviate, shift. All in all, just doesn't make sense to me. It's like... If you don't want to die, just stay indoors... But you never know if a giant is gonna step on your house. In my opinion, there's always going to be that risk.
Hope that answers some questions.

i will answer what I can before the chaos of a post-holiday work day takes me again.
You can only use the points you have earned with current, living characters. You have the option of starting fresh with the current total of five points to allocate as you see fit --there are many more options to gain RP now so getting up to where you want to be isn't going to be as big of an issue as it was previously.
You can have minor to moderate personality changes, but nothing major or drastic -- this is so all the current relationships and personal plots can resume as normally as possible. You are, in essence, the same character as before the reset, just thrown into a different reality, and you need to respect that. We worked hard on these characters and I don't want all our combined efforts to go to waste /:
PVP is always a concern and if you do happen to die, you'll get some percentage of your RP returned to you for the new character. That number right now is yet to be determined, but I agree that you should at least get something for it -- unless of course you are killing off the character yourself (which is not PVP)
I recall something about item threads being in your post -- I am requiring them for item purchases for several reasons. One, so the cash mod is a viable and worthwhile member of the staff pool. Two, so the items purchased are in your continuum so that a, you know when it was purchased and I know when it's purchased, and b, so there is no more skirting over the current rule that you cannot buy an item while you are in a present thread. It really should take no more than a few posts each (if you need a reference, check out the trick or treat threads from a few years back) and you'd get a few more RP to boost yourself.
As it is now, the goal date to start re-registering is the 15th of January, which happens to be in the middle of the week, so it'll probably pushed to the following weekend/Tuesday (which is my Sunday) before new systems are in place and the board is restructured. Hopefully we can be up and running by the end of the month.
If there's anything else I'll look into it when I get home, but I think that covers it.

Are we keeping it so both the main character and the associate are of the same faction? Like, New Chio is a mage, Azoth has to be a mage too? Or will it be different and be different factions with Chio as a mage and Azoth as a soldier?
Just wondering, since Mages seem to be rare and families are lucky if they have one in their brood.

If you don't want to die, just stay indoors... But you never know if a giant is gonna step on your house. In my opinion, there's always going to be that risk. That isn't exactly what I meant with it. My idea was that if two characters fight they agree beforehand whether it's possible for their character to die during the fight or not. If they agree then one of the characters will die when they are injured enough. If they don't then it could instead lead to being maimed or hospitalized or captured instead of dying. Both characters could still be fought and injured. It's just that it won't lead to death unless both people agree to it. I don't think that adding this will really take away from the RP or make it unfair for anyone. All it does is just make it so that a character dying is the result of the player's decision.

You do realize that anyone could do this without making it a rule, right? If you're plotting a Rp with another character, then yeah, I don't see why the two of you can't have a brawl without killing one another. I mean, it would be on your (the two of you) terms. But when a third party not included in this plot decides to join with the intention of killing you, then obviously there's a change of plans. You can't premeditate what could possibly happen, is what I'm saying. But if you'd like to have a fun confrontation with a pal then that's fine, so long as it doesn't turn into a mod-event or if someone else doesn't step in. You can request no death, but you honestly might not get it. If I'm wrong, I'm sure another mod will step in and answer your question, since this is kind of like a discussion and might be subject to changes.

yes, associates are going to be in the same faction as the primary character. Furthermore, it is an immediate transfer and your factions have already been determined by your current ones, so both characters would be in the imperial soldier faction unless you choose to remake them totally, in which case you would forfeit all bonus RP to spend during creation. If that was not made clear before I apologize.
This is a Q&A on the reset, so please keep all suggestions to the appropriate thread or hold onto them until the reset.

I'm going to assume we can still give opinions on the changes in here. If not then I would like to apologize for doing so.
I am opposed to having the new factions determined by the current ones. Why not just let everyone choose their new faction based on what they are doing with their character? I can't really see the benefit in making it so that your current faction determines what the new one is supposed to be.

This is a soft reset with the same characters in the same places coin the same basic things. You are wanting a hard reset which I am not allowing. I put a lot of thought into how to approach this to not stall any current RP and this was the easiest, quickest way to get it back on track and not toss everyone's effort into characters or the points they've earned into the trash.
You are more than welcome to scrap your current characters and forfeit all bonus RP during registration to join a new or different faction.

Note that everything said here will be my own, unbiased, raw and flat opinion. I am in no way expecting anyone to agree to this, or to go ahead with what I'm saying. Just figured I could speak my mind.
Hmm, so how big of a change will it be, exactly? I've been told that the universe will be shifting to a more fantasy/skyrim-like nature so.....what exactly?
We'll have the names and the society be more European custom-wise and sound-wose, call Reiatsu 'Mana' and Kidou 'Magic' and just leave it at that? Because, in all honesty, that doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me. Like, it doesn't even sound worth the effort.
Personally, if we were going to do a more fantasy-esque RP, I figured we might as well abandon a good deal of Bleach elements. The Zanpakuto can still exist as 'Magical Blades', with spirits in them (hey, it's not an idea that hasn't been done before, Bleach didn't invent the concept). The Hollows can still exist, except possibly with a different name.
But why stick to the 'one city with the rukon district around blahblah' thing then? Let's have a kingdom with city-states, maybe? With many different factions. One city can be the city of magic where only practicioners of the magic arts can reside, one city can be Greek/Roman styled, with a Colloseum-like arena? Let's give ourselves some freedom.
Some characters could even make their own local lords! I could easily imagine Shiranui being the king of one of the city-states, and it could even have a Middle-Ages-like Messopotamia feel to it. Or not, dunno (whatever Aki would feel like, really). Or Malik. Or anyone!
I guess this is just me saying 'If we're going to change the universe, we might as well go all the way, or half the way instead of a quarter of the way'. And anyone who wants to pass over their old characters can merely choose were to fit them in, and which relationships they will maintain. If RP points are an issue, if we are to scrap our chars for new ones, why not be allowed to convert the extra stats (the ones bought with RP points) back to points and give them to the new character? I would have no problem with that, really.
Now, I understand that this may not be possible. This is called 'Akatokiyami - Wasteland' after all. But like I said, I am voicing my own opinion and throwing a couple of balls out there. Not expecting that much, however, mostly due to the fact that my idea sounds a lot like a 'hard reset', which is not allowed. I'm gonna go with the flow regardless.
Also, in case anyone asks, the reason why I seem to be leaning more towards the 'hard reset or no reset' set of mind is because, well, my character. I styled Ryo after my general image of samurai as well as the lawful shinigami from the series. This whole reset might be soft, yes, and we might be allowed to make small personality changes but it just won't be the same. I'm not sure that he will feel like he truly belongs, like I am not just forcing him into a place that he doesn't really fit in.
Now, you will say that I can make a new character and...yes, I can. And I do have an idea. Point is, that character sort of fits more in my 'hard-reset...y' idea. If we will just have a 'European fantasy Seireitei and Rukongai', he will not fit in at all. So you see, I'm kind of conflicted.
Oh lord this came out way longer than I had initially intended. Plus I'm pretty sure I'm rambling. __________________________________________________________________________________________
SUMMARISATION
No, Akatokiyami needs no reset. It is fine. But if we are to do a reset, let us do a reset. That is all.

Alright, I think I can address some of this with full confidence, as the majority of it was explained in the broadcast which can be found in two parts in the link in my opening post. Although I do admit like any AK broadcast I do tend to get a little distracted from time to time in it, lol. We'll have the names and the society be more European custom-wise and sound-wise, call Reiatsu 'Mana' and Kidou 'Magic' and just leave it at that? Because, in all honesty, that doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me. Like, it doesn't even sound worth the effort. That is exactly what we're doing. Obviously Kido spells will be a thing of a past, though we are working on a list of more generic spells in which all Mages will be able to learn. We still are having a type of magical weapon, which is being made from a element called Eiphyre which manifests the inner magical properties of the user. As for Hollows still existing, will we be having creatures in which you can find and do battle with of various shapes and sizes, but as a faction no. as of right now all characters whom are to be approved are human. This Hollow bit is better explained in the broadcast, but the long and short of it has to do with our current member base. Or Malik. Or anyone! We aren't sticking with one city, we're actually working on a map which currently has 5 different cities and each City will have it's own High-Born (Noble) family/Governing Lord. One of these 5 cities is the capital city in which the King and the Royal family reside (which is completely npc based) For the time being only one of the five or so starting High-Born families has been given a name, leaving others the chance to pop in with their own and provide a detailed back story for them, so on and so forth. Heck we're even going to have writing contests where members can create histories for each city, towns and rest stations along the way (these are being included into the forum's canon for the overall story fyi, so not that the entire forum contributes to the lore) which can easily be tied into High-Born families and the like. (I hope that covers that question and that I didn't stray away from it XD) I guess this is just me saying 'If we're going to change the universe, we might as well go all the way, or half the way instead of a quarter of the way'. The universe is completely changing, only the characters a bit of government body are staying the same (the government changing much more than the former). The character and rp situation for those who want a more direct change is actually a subject of discussion on the staff board, so for the time being I'm not going to provide any further light on that as it's all up in the air right now. As for the title, being 'Akatokiyami - Wasteland', that won't be staying around. It's in for a change too. So you see, I'm kind of conflicted. The reset is happening, the poll results were so overwhelming for it to happen from out of the gates it's not even funny. As for how you styled Ryo, you can still fit that bill, you don't need to be a Japanese character to be inspired by that of the Samurai, and we do have a faction, position or social standing if you prefer in which would suit him and any other warrior type similar to him quite well to be honest. So you could keep his personality intact and just update his attire for the new setting (along with his name and age) and he'd be a shoe in for a solider. As for Seireitei and the Rukongai.. Well they won't really exist anymore anyways, lol. Hope I cleared up a few things for ya o.ob

Random question: Are we breaking away from the Japanese theme then? No more Japanese character names and no more honorics like "-sama, -chan" etc?

Okay, I have a couple of questions before I can do a good deal of work on my character.
1. Are the high nobles going to be based out of the main city or are they each going to have their own city? If it's the latter, should we claim a city now?
2. Is there going to be a deity that represents life/purity/restoration or something similar and if there is, can I base my character's powers on channeling the god's power?
3. I know that characters we roll over have their faction determined by their current faction. However, Gwyn really isn't military material, so I was wondering if instead of being directly enlisted as solider, if she could be a priestess of the aforementioned god (or just a healer if there's no such god) who is in the employ of the military as a priestess/healer/one who handles their dead. Would that be possible?

Also, do mercenaries/sellswords/gladiators have their own 'non-faction' faction? Because that's what I want my character to be, a wanderer more or less. Also he is supposed to be born in a village, not one of the main cities (though we have no villages yet from what I see).

Would that be possible? Alright, I'll answer this as best I can here. 1. Either or, personally I'm having the Dirson's originate from Levenstead, the most North Western of the cities. If you would like your family to come from somewhere else, I can't see claiming a city right now out of the question. It'd actually assist in giving us some background for the city for the descriptions. 2. There is a deity, I know Frox has been working on that and not sure how far she's come in that so I'll just answer what I can in this one. There is a deity, Mages are considered their vassals of power and the Eiphyre a gift from them to help the 'normal man' channel their power. So, yes you could do that. 3. The Second and Third Division members are actually being treated as Mages in this regard, making what you want to do all the more suitable. For Mages are religious leaders, keepers of knowledge and healers. Not to mention magic shooting dudes and dudettes. All that said they're perhaps a lot more disciplined and molded character choices than the other faction choices, just because of how they're trained (more details on that will be revealed as they come along more). In short Ki, yes. You can certainly be a priestess magey person. Also, do mercenaries/sellswords/gladiators have their own 'non-faction' faction? Because that's what I want my character to be, a wanderer more or less. Also he is supposed to be born in a village, not one of the main cities (though we have no villages yet from what I see). They're a sub-faction, a personal profession if you will of what is now the Rukon Citizen. Ex-military so they'd have the training and Eiphyre weapon. We do have towns/villages, just no names for them yet, so you can certainly be from one of those if you prefer. The map is still wip, but there will be villages and towns, along with rest stations and so forth between the cities.

Do they need to be ex-military and have an eiphyre weapon? My character will be young, by the time of the war he would've been a child. He could've gotten training from a wandering mercenary/ex-soldier of the sort, is what I was originally planning. Unless someone were to take that place with their character, and his teacher is not just a name in the backstory.
Also, how common are Eiphyre weapons? Is the metal magical from the start and mined from the earth, or is it normal metal granted magical properties by mages? Or are these weapons not made, but found, essentially making them mysterious artifacts that are considered a gift from the gods or some sort?

1 - The main goal is to have most, if not everyone, posting in the main city at the start so we're not all spread out. This doesn't mean that all noble families have to be from the main city, as some probably got their titles from creating or protecting little farmsteads out in the wilderness and are, in essence, in charge of those new townships. So you can be from any of the named cities, or make one up if you'd like (there's certainly space on the map!).
2 - There is a religious order that, right now, is similar to the Chantry from Dragon Age. I don't have the specifics at the moment, but the mages are going to be extensions of the religious order and are to only use their powers for good, just like the stereotypical cleric. There are six-ish sub-classes of mages, four of which are based off the elements (like Avatar) - but are unavailable from the start - and the other two are for healing or just archivists. Each of the sub-classes has a tiered ability like how the Chiyudo is currently based on their Power levels, but each character would have their different nuances within the skill itself, in addition to their custom powers, which can be used to benefit the class skill or as something entirely.
3 - Since Yuzuki was currently in the 2nd division, she'd be rolled over into the healers already, and since the healers are kind of clerics, she'd also be a priest. I think that's what you were getting at. xP
4 - The way it's set up, there can be sell-swords; if you want to start with an Eiphyre weapon (which functions similar to the zanpakutou), you'd have to be a retired soldier, which is lumped into the Citizen faction. If you choose to not have the custom weapon to start out with, you can come up with your own combat backstory.

Eiphyre weapons are forged from an element which came from Space (from the gods). It has properties of it's own which unlock the hidden power/s within those said items are sired to. They're crafted by specially trained Blacksmiths whom then present the weapon to it's owner, at which point only those trained Smiths and the owner of that weapon can lift/wield it. Eiphyere is the crown jewel of the Imperial Empire, as they gathered up all of it when it first arrived back in the day, and it is provided to special soldiers (ie our characters). So while it's not incredibly rare, it's basically impossible to have a weapon made from it unless you are or once were a soldier of some sort. So you can have a young character who was never part of the military, but having a weapon like this isn't going to happen (to start with, it's possible you may earn favour at some point with the Royal family and earn one of your own at some point via rp). For even if your teacher were to die and was a veteran of the Imperial Forces, his weapon wouldn't respond to anyone but him and would for the most part be a very, very, very heavy paperweight or gravestone to all those who aren't one of these Blacksmiths (whom for the time being are strictly being npcs).

Making me sad guys, a lot of these questions have answers on the recorded broadcast D:
Now I'm assuming you mean what's becoming what, or what's replacing what, for depending on your character as well as your choice of faction your character may be a sure fit for one or another, to better explain that here's a bit from Froxy. "Current Rukon Citizens will have the option of going into, or being from, one of the military parties, especially if he wants an Eiphyre weapon; conversely, a Shinigami may retire into the citizenship without reprimand or lost points. This will also be extended to current Hollow, though given the nature of a hollow, or it's tendency to be inclined toward evil, the character would most likely be a bad egg and would be chucked out of the military before getting a weapon."
Now, the core the Shinigami (1st, 4nd 5th Divisions) are being absorbed into the Imperial Empire (military body in service to the king). Those who retired would still be considered as such simply due to their time spent, like a veteran in modern day society.
The Remaining Shinigami Divisions (2nd and 3rd) are being absorbed into what we're referring to as The Touched (Mages). Frox has already explained in pretty good detail what those fellows are.
Then we've got our Citizens, these fellows would be your sell swords, gladiators, barbers.. The like. I'm seeing the Rukongai Citizens, for the most part, being these guys.
Then we've got what we're currently calling the Naturals. These gents and ladies are those few who have been able to manifest their power without the Eiphyre to unlock it. They are the bridge between the Touched and the Average man. The majority of Hollow are classified into this group. Heroes and Legends fall into this category as well, as before the discovery of the Eiphyre, they were the only ones to combat the worlds evils...or cause it themselves. Though like the Imperial Empire, members of the Rukongai could fit this bill too.
Hope that clears things up, rather than making it all muddy.

What also has been failed to been observed, as it was probably lost in some sort of chaos over the broadcast, is that every being has this power in themselves naturally -- most of them just need help getting it out. If you have ever read Brent Weeks' 'The Night Angel,' this may be familiar to you, as it's quite similar. Even in Naruto -- every person has a chakra pathway, but some are never activated. These are the premise for this world.
The statement about Citizens and Naturals is misleading -- the citizens are Naturals. They're the ones who are going to have some random intervention that will draw their power outward and make the world their own.

So basically, any non-Touched have the potential to become Naturals? Theoretically speaking.
Also, a thing that popped up in my mind about Eiphyre weapons. An Eiphyre weapon will bond with a single person, and anyone besides that individual and the 'magical blacksmith' who made it will find it too heavy for use. And non-magical.
But, what if the blade is melted down? Is it impossible to melt/destroy an Eiphyre weapon after it has been forged? Or is the blacksmith who made it the only one capable of accomplishing such a feat? If it can be melted down, if the metal is reused to forge a new weapon then will that weapon obey a new master, or will the material retain the 'memory' of its previous wielder? And if the 'recycled' Eiphyre weapons remain loyal to the users of their 'previous lives' then what if you combine the metal of more than one weapon to make several?
Point is, the users of the Eiphyre weapons will eventually die - whether from sword, sickness or age. If it is impossible to re-use the material of the weapon then effectively that means that Eiphyre weapons will have an 'expiration date' - and eventually, all of them will become useless as Eiphyre comes in limited supply. While our RP days won't last long enough for this to come into play, I am curious.

While our RP days won't last long enough for this to come into play, I am curious. It isn't impossible for Eiphyre weapons to be destroyed or reshaped, however once the element binds itself to someone it cannot be reused by another. We're actually working that into the overall history and why it is such a rarity among the populace(why basically no one will have more than one Eiphyre weapon and why npcs outside of our own won't have said weapons) because eventually it will run out, something I was basing on reality. As I explained on the broadcast (which I again implore you all to listen to if you haven't already) your weapons will need maintained, serviced and so on. For they will crack and break, need sharpened, etc.. etc.. And while your point about those weapons eventually becoming useless is a likely hood, that wouldn't stop any army in our real life history or this fictional one from using said weapons. I hope that answers yer questions.
